If Zlatan takes his chances often, he can still be a sole striker. He is that type of striker that is difficult to mark out.
He knows how to create space for himself without pace, plus chances from aerial balls.

The ~3~ back thing was the only way. Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young stayed wide and their forwards became powerless because their centre midfielders actually suck when in possession.

The surprise for me was Ander Herrera playing almost as a right centre back at the start; and policing £100m John Cena wherever he went. Bravo!

How can you not see Mourinho's tactical genius for the first time today?

1. He started with two attackers instead of one exploiting Shekpe defence the more. Those two chased and added pace to our blunt attack.

2. HE Benched Zlatan and left Shekpe defence confused by not marking a single CF, but rather splitting their back 3 into marking 2 pacy strikers.

3. He disciplined the players to man mark each player. Not only Herrera was man-marking Hazard, Fellani was on Kante's case. Rojo and Bally stayed close to Costa. Darmian was right on Pedro, etc.

4 and the best of them, bringing in Carrick immediately Fabregas came in to choke the midfield and make sure Fab's Passes doesn't arrive to their targets.

Mourinho shocked me today. I never saw it coming.

Well, if it wasn't tactical, it's still a nice thing to do. On this thread we've been complaining of how the sole striker style was killing our game. Double attack helped us greatly.

Mourinho hardly thrives with 2 strikers upfront (Drogba-Crespo), (Ibrahim-Adriano), (Drogba-Shevy)..., except one is deployed as winger e.g Eto at Inter.

Well times have changed. Even Mourinho has changed. Rashford plays too far from the goal when Ibra is on the pitch. Same with Martial. They should play alongside Ibra at the front.

The commentator said something about Pogba based on chances seen should be the second highest goal scorer after Ibra. When we have Rashford and Martial? They should find a way to play closer to the goal jare.
