In truth, you don't need Nigeria's scholarship. mathematics is a hot cake in US institutions. Most mathematics dept fully fund their master and PhD students. You need to check institutions in US and probably write GRE
Assist in any way. I have searched Google more than a thousand times but I have not been able to make a headway

I think you should start by taking the GRE. A score of at least 164 in the quant, plus a good SOP & CGPA , you are good to go. Mayflowa can shed more light on it. It is a bit easy for mathematics graduates compared to engineering graduates. I really don't know why that's so.

A scholar told me 1200 as at then. Based on your attachment, it seems they have increased monthly stipend to 1550
I don't think so. I'm also last year beneficiary,I haven't been paid.

The reason is not far-fetched. Most science students, engineering up to agriculture and some social science undergraduates take classes with Mathematics dept. So the dept is always in need of Graduate Assistant to cater for the need of the students

Does that mean getting a good score in GRE the schools would automatically get across to me?

Some schools do at times. You have to apply to many with your documents and test scores.

If you are interested in schools in texas. Type the list of schools in Texas on google. Start checking their mathematics departments, then check their sites for financial aid and admission requirement. You would then know if funding is given to all admitted students.

My school, University of Missouri does give scholarship to all math graduate students.

The current scholars received £6,600 on two occasions. That's about £1,100/month. The money was paid in bulk. No special allocation for laptops. Return ticket is fully paid for as well. My nigga is a current scholar.

Why the return ticket?
Are scholars required to return to the country after studies? mystikal

Yeah bro, scholars are supposed to return after studies. In the UK, that decision is already made for you cos of their visa policy. Yankee is more flexible about theirs so you can work around it...Maybe.

That's the reason why I avoided UK like a bubonic plague. You are to return after 4 months if you can't get a job that pays over GBP20,000 p.a., circa cos the PSW was cancelled during Theresa May's tenure as Inland Secretary.

I mean as a policy by PTDF, are scholars agreed upon to return to the country after studies?
Hope you get the question

Just an observation sir, I think the whole essence of the PTDF OSS is to train and develop manpower in areas lacking and needing in the O&G sector of Nigeria, so if PTDF scholars do not want to return back to Nigeria on completion of their MSc or PhD, that purpose is defeated. Please when you eventually get the scholarship make efforts to return back to Nigeria, she needs you. smiley

It depends on what duration is stated in your I-20 supplied by the school. But I know that after your studies, as long as you did STEM, you can stay back for up to 3 years for OPT. And that period should be sufficient to gain practical experience and then you can return home.

Yes I agree with you. I don't intend to stay put there cos I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt, wore a hole in it, and now use it as a duster. Nevertheless, it is to the advantage of a scholar to get at least a year of OPT so that upon returning with a foreign experience, he/she would have a competitive edge here where jobs are hard to get.

The truth is, PTDF never serious in their policy. The scholar certificate will not be issued directly to him/her but would be sent to PTDF. Its PTDF that would organise a colourful ceremony in honouring your achievement. Thereafter fix you up to your primary assignment. That's how it should have been but regrettably, you are getting from the national cake. So it is your luck to escape wherever you want.

Kai! Rocorleone my guy, You don reach here again?!! Anyway its good. We need to quickly know how far with PTDF shey!!!! grin......coded guy!!

Baba you don't need to come back o if the immigration policy of the country you're going to favours you. I think PTDF also understands that a good number of decent oil and gas jobs are scarce in the country, hence its relaxation of its policies on coming back to the country.

Though being a scholar may possibly give an edge, it shouldn't be banked upon in a country where nepotism and connections are the order of the day. This also does not mean that all PTDF returnee scholars would not be able to secure good jobs in Nigeria but all i'm trying to say is that we shouldn't loose touch with the realities of Nigeria's job market.

On the other hand, How parole naaa!!! Make we see for the other room abeg!!! cheesy

#badt guy....Don't worry PTDF go select us!!

Our case is different!!
