OAU Post-UTME: Day-One Candidates Allege Irregularities

Following the release of the 2017 Obafemi Awolowo University Post-UTME results, some candidates, especially those who had their exams on the first day are complaining that their results are not a true reflection of their input, thus alleging irregularities.

Complaining to the agency correspondents who seek to have a handful of reactions from the aspirants, some candidates who wrote their exams on Saturday, September 23 – the first day of the screening exercise said what they got were “surprised results” after checking their page on the portal. Another candidates who pleaded anonymity complained of scoring zero in three of the four subject areas he was tested and getting 3 in the last subject, thereby having an overall of 3/40 in the Post UTME.

OAU Peeps News Agency was able to project the complaints to the Management; upon putting a call to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitayo Ogunmodede, he told our correspondent that the news is just reaching him for the first time since the release of the results and promised to get back on the matter shortly. Just few minutes later, the VC called us to inform that he has instructed the appropriate quarters to look into the issue as fast as possible.

This year witnessed the maiden computer based Post-UTME screening in OAU. Candidates will be considered for admission by their aggregated performances in the UTME, Post-UTME and their O’level results.

Here is the breakdown of the model employed to arrive at aspirants’ aggregate scores:

For O’level: A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5, Others = O

So, Aggregate Score:
A.UTME Score/8 (maximum 50)
B. O'Level Score/5 (maximum 10)
C. POST-UTME Score (maximum 40)

Total - 100%

Candidates must score a minimum of 25 out of 50 in the O'Level Score/5 + POST-UTME Score in order to be considered for admission.

bro it not just Saturday it general I can't still believe I had 17/40 in the supposed post utme. The worst is I had 3/10 in government even though I believed I answered 7 questions correctly, 4/10 aptitude despite very sure of 9 answers since majority of the question instucted us to pick the correct word of the spelt words A-D.

Eeyah... when I saw 10 in putme, I was like didn't I click anything. Imagine having 2 in Biology and Aptitude, biology for that matter. Am still speechless

Lemme cite an example
If the question is 40 and you score 10 but miss 30, that 30 will be subtracted from your initial score i.e 10-30= -20 ....so your final score is -20��‍♂��‍♂��‍♂

Please explain to me how the points are calculated i thought putme score is 40

i am one of the candidate that took part in this exercise. i did on Saturday. and out of the 40 questions asked at least 6 questions were not in order. . why why oau. it appaling and nothing good to talk about .those that did on Saturday are mostly affected by incomplete questions. the most funny thing about it was that they said we should lodge,our complain during the exam and we candidates did but was not looked into why why oau pls review this and let this great institution continuing going higher

Jamb score divided by 8, o level divided by 5. Add up everything including putme score.

I also did on Saturday 23rd

or even 15 because let's assume someone had all As in her O'level which is the maximum points anyone could get, that would be 50/5 which is 10. If OAU demands 25 points from your O'level points divided by 5 + your putme scores, that means all you need to get 25 is 15.



So 10 from jamb + 15 from putme can get you above the requirements

where A1=10 B2=9 B3=8.....as so on

as you know that the minimum UTME requirements before you can sit for the post
UTME is 200 which is 25[when divided by 8]

so also your post UTME score (out of possible 40) + O level point must be 25 before you can be considered for admission..

That's what we call negative marking

It is obvious you can't digest previous posts, since you are sure it negative marking then analyse how possible it is to be negatively marked 17/40.
