Greetings fellow nairalanders.

My dream as a child then was to become a vetinary doc. But after my O' level, and been frustrated by lack of admission, I ventured into teaching in one of the primary schools around. In the process I fell in love with teaching and had a change of dream.
In the most recent jamb, I applied for an education course but people are making me feel like I just made a big mistake. If I should tell anybody I applied for biology education, the way they look at me alone is enough for me to commit suicide.
I know teachers are underrated in Nigeria but is education really as useless as they are making me see it?

Lolz... I can relate to the above.... you should understand that it's about what drives you(passion) and not about what people thinks... and moreover, you can't please everyone.. don't let anyone belittle you..... Teachers are great...Go make a difference.

Forget about those people, am studying an education course though mine is bsc.ed(double honors) but still I don't give a flying fuccck about them, call me a teacher, I love it.

Oga op if u can change ur biology education ,you had better do so immediately ...I won't lie to you education courses makes you limited. Will you teach all your life.. Get a professional course

follow ur passion.i left engineering to study agriculture.it's wasn't because my grade where bad.i wasn't feeling the course at all.my heart was elsewhere.when i told peeps i was leaving engineering for agric,i recieve insults,i was criticide.but i didn't give a fu*k about their insult, about their critics because i had no future wit engineering,i never even imagined myselff an engineer.
people look down on faculty of agric and education a lot.they thing we are dull,becos thats where most peeps who did not meet cutoff mark of other course are thrown.it's the university's fault that decide to turn these faculties to dump site.
my dear,close ur ears to their critics and follow ur heart cos u will be happy and fulfilled.i am very happy and fulfilled.each morning i wake up and i'm like"jeez,i can't bliv i'm studying this amasing course".each day i just keep falling for my course.we are starting farm praticals this semester,i just cant wait to put on my coverall and boot wit my cutlass on ma hands and martch to d farm.

Professional course? i hope you are aware that not everyone will be a doctor, pharmacist and others. If he really want to pursure educational course, wish him well.

You can try Medlab science or radiography .. I have made a big mistake in the past and won't like people to make the same mistake .. Education courses are DEAD .. Cause even related courses like microbiology and biochemistry will still compete with you.. Medlab or radiography .. You can even try public health they are far better that biology education .. And you fail to forget that some people study biology under faculty of biological sciences.. Which has more opportunities than education.. Education you will only end up being a teacher,which is other courses last resort .. Op think twice

You gained admission 2016 .as of 2015 I have backed my MSc already .. You and op are almost in the same shoes.. So listen to my advice..it also goes to you..Op don't make this mistake this man made. ..this human being quoting me is looking for a way out of physical and health education which is a bit more lucrative than biology education .I just saw his post . run from any education course.. Biology under faculty of biological sciences is far better than education .. Education is better for females than males
