Talking about cows, some Black Angus cows checking us out while at work just now. Very curious animals... . Not so cold out here yet, it's just -6 at the moment close to the US border in Sask. 18 Likes 2 Shares

harrrry: Hi, you dont have to have anybody here to come as a visitor/tourist. Just apply for your visitor`s visa, research about where you`re landing and make adequate preparations for your visit and stay if your application is successful. Check this link for more visit visa info, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/tourist.asp 2 Likes |

salford1: Hi Salford - looking through the pics, I assume you work in remote locations. I was just wondering if your company has any means of monitoring lone workers in remote locations such as these? Reason is - I'm currently working on a "remote biometric monitoring" project for my company and this is an area we're looking to explore / pilot. This is totally from a safety point of view and has nothing to do with performance monitoring of lone workers Any thoughts....? is there already a market for this is Canada... Is this something your company may be interested in...? We can talk offline if that's okay. Thanks 5 Likes |

Ehrnie:I wont say we work in remote locations. Nowhere is really remote in alot of places in Canada as they have roads linking almost every cities, towns and villages. There is always a ramada/home inn/day inn hotel or rcmp station/clinic some 50km away max. The roads might not be standard roads grid roads though. We do have monitoring but not biometrics. I am aware most of our fleet vehicles are installed with gps trackers devices that sends signals to a main station e.g they can tell if you are driving above speed limits on roads. The stations have cctv connected to internet on sites, and we have to call in control centre every two hours to check in. I am not sure about our crew up north as those ones sometimes take helicopters or planes to sites. You can always contact offline. 8 Likes |

salford1: Oh yeah - I get the picture now. Good to know there's some form of monitoring for lone workers - I've heard about the GPS monitoring. Very interesting I must admit. With the project I'm working on, the guys will not have to check in every two hours. The solution is designed to monitor vital signs and communicate this back in real time to the control room. Any anomalies will be picked up in real time and help will be sent out when needed. Okay - I'll take this offline so I don't get thrown off this thread. Thanks for reaching out - will drop you an email after work. Cheers, 5 Likes |
