For those going to other provinces just navigate in the above sites to get your preferred destination and take their own tests. With consistent practice you wont need to study the handbook in-depth but getting 90% on the practice tests over and over has proven to be a good indication you're ready for the real thing. You'll take the basic road test and when you have up to 24 months you'll go back and take the advanced road test. So if you land at 18 months, then after 60 days uou would have 20 months. You exchange it for a Gdl or G2 license and after 4 months go back and take d advanced test and get a full G license. Confirm with the registry on arrival first that you can do this.

I just got off the phone with the serviceontario people and she told me pretty much what you outlined above. I can only exchange a 2+ years licence (with eye test). Under 2 year, they'll exchange it for a G2 licence and upon successful completion of a G2 test I get a full licence. Sucks to be me right now.

The cost of Acces programmes are heavily subsidized by the Federal and Provincial governments to assist newcomers. I learnt they actually cost about $2,500 but you pay only $500.00. We were told this is to ensure you have a stake in the process and make you committed since you spent some money for it and that makes sense. During the program, everyone fills a form to get a refund from the government through OBAP- Ontario Bridging Assistance Program. Some people get partial refund of the $500, some get full refund. They have a way of calculating it based on need, family size, amount of funds available in their budget. I got full refund of the $500 after the programme so it ended up being free for me. It was. He is saying you can land and then return when you have completed the number of required months so that your medical doesn't expire and you would have the required number of months for the driver's license.

My question is with regards to schooling for kids in Canada. I understand that their elementary school calendar starts from 1st Sept to 30th June every year (based on Ontario education website), and Grade 1 is for 6year olds, but my son will only clock 6years a month plus after the resumption of the school session, that is Oct 22nd. Would they consider him for Grade 1 by that school session? or he will lose a year just because of a difference of one month.

I'll appreciate your valid contribitions.

It probably means that the one that I was using before was fake, hence why the Date of 1st issue is 02/2016.

If I get to Canada now and wait till February to request for the letter, is it still going to work out?

What they are saying is that you can come in before your medicals are past due. Stay for a month or so to get your PR card then return to Switzerland for a few months to ensure you have a full 2+ years before you return to Canada permanently and then swap your license for a local license.

I understand your plight but I think it all depends on you.

At least, you will get a G2 license and that still puts you in close proximity in terms of wait period in getting the full license.

I really do not see any reason in doing a short landing and then go back just because you want to your Swiss license to clock 24 months. If you have other things beside the license reason, then a short landing will be good. Else, it is better to land and face the wait squarely.

I stand corrected, if a child will not be exactly 6 years or over by the first day of the school year, he will actually be allowed to start in grade 1 provided he's 6 by December 31 that year.. Apparently the September cut off is not so strict in Ontario. I appreciate the experiences shared below.

Pls I know this is not the most appropriate thread, but I haven't gotten a response that answers my question on the express entry thread. Those who did their ECA with WES, pls, were you guys requested to submit your degree certificate or was a statement of result adequate for the process (I only have statement of result available). Also, is IQAS ECA accepted by employers in Ontario? Or better still, do employers request ECA before u can be offered a job

Just received my PP and COPR..FSW.
I know it has been said here that for FSW one can land anywhere except Quebec, but on the COPR, there is "Province of destination" and "City of destination" already filled out.

Please confirm this wont be an issue as we have already started researching other areas to land.

I have not heard that WES accepts Statement of Result. The certificate remains your best bet. Make effort to obtain it if you can. Good luck.
