#OLIC4: Low Turnout Dampens Expectation Of A Sold Out Show The fourth edition of Olamide’s annual concert OLIC4 is underway at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. For the first time since the rap artiste started the series, it’s taking place outside of Eko Hotel at the 24,000 capacity arena. The logic was that as his fans continue to grow in number, he needed a bigger venue to host his thousands of fans. Vheektor Okpala, our correspondent on ground reports that although the concert started much later than the advertised time of 12pm, the stadium is far from being filled up. Some of the reasons may include the fear of insecurity expressed by a number of fans. Others have declared that the roster of artistes includes a certain Yomi Sars, a member of the much criticised Special Anti-Robbery Squad- which they teemed as Olamide’s insensitive to the conversation around the dreaded squad- that people have denounced in recent times. kingfhaddo:Tell this to Phyno. His Enugu show at the stadium was sold out. Nigerians are on edge and Olamide just gave them a reason to make him an upcoming act. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Sanchez01:Naaah, the reason the show wasnt sold out is because it didn't get much publicity as it should have. 2 Likes |

kingfhaddo: It seems the meaning of the words 'sold out' is missing in your dictionary. For the record, a venue cannot be said to be sold out if it is not filled to the brim, and all tickets meant to be sold are sold completely. Enugu is saner and more peaceful than Lagos. Below are pictures of Phyno's sold out Phynofest just last month. www.nairaland.com/attachments/6284957_p_jpeg8fa53345052cf60d6b5438e4dbe9a709 www.nairaland.com/attachments/6284958_p2_jpeg2968aac941362234adf072828ec880c6 www.nairaland.com/attachments/6284959_p3_jpeg5be7932de55916dd84ecfe1c19a1993d 1 Like 1 Share |

Sanchez01:i dont know why you are so concerned about the word sold-out.i am sure olamide and his team are smiling to their bank account right now |

kingfhaddo:So in your own life, you pray to secure a 25,000 capacity venue (rented, of course), with the hope filling the place up, only to have just 12,000 people in attendance. Note that Lil Keshi, Native/Small doctor, Yomi Sars, et al, would all be settled/balanced from the proceeds of ticket sales. We are yet to talk about logistics. Hiring a generating set, contracting a sound/technical company to see to the output of the speakers, hotel and accommodation of the other artistes even though the show is within Lagos. We should not rule out the DJ's fee as well before talking about his take home for the night. Also note that the tickets are as cheap as free and it would take 50k upwards to make sense out of ticket sales knowing that others must be duly settled. Now tell me, do you really think Olamide and his team would really be happy /smiling to the bank that the show was a success when it was clearly half full? How about we talk about why he would get a capacity ad that when he knew he could have gotten something else which would have cost lesser than what he paid for the stadium. Do the maths. |
