I have this friend of mine who was denied because he applied to community college, but has degree from Nigeria, which he filled on the form. How can he go about it as he wants to reapply.....
This has been my thought too as the VO would see this as a means to escape? How will u have a degree from Nigeria and go to a community college again?

Hello house
Can I enter the US a day or two after the start date on my I-20?

Two days is fine but communicate with the International Student Program Coordinator in your school telling him/her that you will be coming in 2 days late after school starts. Make sure the person gives you the go ahead or maybe does a covering letter for you. Also have the person's contact on standby just incase the Customs and Border Protection officer decide to call your school.

After one year of this yankee hustle, Jah has finally done it. It has not been easy- from going to the library and jacking the whole day for GRE (ETS still knack me 308 sha) to preparing for visa interview, it has been God all the way. I want to use this opportunity to thank my brothers from another mother, fredoricko and toomuchsauce, my e-mummy lagosismyhome and TWOODS (although I had to filter your posts sha). God’s favour was clearly discerned immediately I arrived Lagos as my co-passenger in the bus I fared followed me round obalande to ensure I book a hotel since everywhere was strange to me. On getting to the embassy the next day, it was as if I entered a crusade ground. I didn’t know that people can be this obedient and calm. When one woman talk sey she need 7500 for her dad, na so people begin dash her money- everybody wan do good to tey gain God favour for visa. Na so we do biometrics and some other stuffs before main interview con reach. Omo, it was blue paper day. The VOs especially that black American woman was giving out blue papers with great ecstasy. Na so I begin beg God make CGI nor send me to her. Fortunately for me, I was sent to the guy in window 1. The VO was truly a nice person. The following ensued in our conversation.
VO: where do you work? (Has any interview ever started like this?)
Me: Told him about my work
VO: so why Sacramento state?
Me: A lot of reasons made me choose CSUS but for the purpose of this interview I’ll enumerate just 3. Firstly, Prof X IEEE research paper about the miniaturizing of planar baluns for wireless applications gave me a positive impression about the dept. so I didn’t hesitate in contacting him and telling him about my plans. He told me to go ahead and apply. Secondly, although I will be focusing on telecommunications, I needed a department that offers other courses that are relevant to Nigerian situation, courses like power system reliability and planning, CSUS not only has these courses but offers me the opportunity to simultaneously take these courses with telecommunications, moreover, the climate condition in the Sacramento valley is similar to a reasonable degree to the one we have here in Nigeria, so my body can easily adapt while my brain focuses on academic course work.
VO; what is the weather in Sacramento like? (See question )
Me: it has a mild climate unlike the weather in the east coast
VO: what is the current temperature?
Me: 14 degree Celsius
VO: in Fahrenheit?
Me: I don’t know, in Nigeria we use Celsius ( abeg leave weather make you gimme visa jare)
VO: what will you do after you graduate?
Me: upon graduation, I intend to return to my alma mata and take up a lecturing job and after teaching for like 6 years, I believe I will be qualified enough to provide consultancy services to telecommunication giants like MTN, GLO, ETISALAT and the rest.
VO: is it still called etisalat?
Me: oh, no, It’s actually called 9mobile but I believe the name will still change since the banks that etisalat was indebted to are the ones currently controlling it.
VO: who’s paying?
Me: my dad
VO: can I see your financial docs?
Me: sure, passed it
VO: what is your highest degree?
Me: Bsc electrical and electronic engineering
VO: any tests?
Me: I took TOEFL and GRE
VO: what did you score?
Me: I got 308 in GRE and 104 in TOEFL
VO: pass me your score sheets
Me: I passed it
VO: how many months is this program?
Me: I said 20 something months( I can’t really remember)
VO: I will be placing you on administrative processing
Me: OK
VO: Is there anything you would like to retract? (VO facial expression was like “If I see anything oluwole here angry angry, just forget about entering the US for the rest of your life)
Me: no (I had nothing to be afraid of).
I jeje waka comot with white AP paper. Then after just 3 days, AP changed to issued. Na to find cheap flight ticket remain now.

No No No.. at best, this GPA will get him a PhD admission at low tier schools where frustration will eat very deep into his soul, considering that he has no publications In high rated journals. He should remedy the GPA with an MSc, and then proceed for a doctorate.
PS: I speak from the STEM perspective where PhD's are mostly funded , Non-funded Humanities can accept that GPA (But paying for a PhD na correct Gbese) cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Hello everyone,

Thanks again for all the insight. I have a female friend who is traveling on 11th January 2018 to study in (Texas state university) San Marcos. Please is there anyone that is willing to help with accommodating for some time before she finds her feet ther. She is also willing to pay. I appreciate your response. Many thanks

Your friend should contact the school and request assistance with accommodation. She can also go online and find affordable housing.

Hello People. I got denied today by the guy in Window 6,really felt bad because I couldn't pinpoint what really went wrong because I felt I was lecturing (I really prepared and prayed well too) the guy all the minutes in his front and he kept on nodding like an agama lizard as we were both smiling.

I'm going to Tamuk for masters in Electrical and electronics engineering, been working in a power engineering firm in Lagos. I got home and read my denial under section 214(b)( Bottom line, I'm not able to show proof I'm coming back after my studies) so I suspected where the problem came.

VO- so where do you work and your responsibilities.
Me- Told him where I work and all what i wrote on my DS-160.
The next question was
VO- Are you on a study leave.
Me- Yes. The management of organization are fully aware of my desire to pursue a masters degree as it would help me to attain the post of the head of operations in my dept when i come back and I have my study leave here.
VO- oh Good. Is your study leave with pay or without pay.
Me- My study leave is without pay as my dad will be responsible for my study throughout my programme.

Few questions after that and he was typing for like a minute and I was thinking I killed it and I should get an approval.

Then he issued me a blue paper. Asked him what went wrong, he said 'I'm really sorry, I don't coach bla bla' and I left.

So please any advise? I'm reapplying for sure but I can't get a study leave with pay at my organization and how else can I change my situation to stand a chance of getting a positive outcome.

Thanks. Please I need kind and frank response.

Ridiculous. The devil isn’t the one refusing people visas.
Pls Mr twoods, am going for undergraduate course in sonography in Lincoln University after I did zoology and majored in genetics... Have been thinking of something to say as my answer might be too lame for the VO maybe to consider...
VO: why do you still want to go for an undergraduate course after you had one?
Ans: I was fascinated by the work while I was doing my industrial training in part and that has really changed my thought and moreso, the need for sonographers is on the rise in Nigeria to 26% and that's why I really wanna go for the course...
Pls help my life people...
Everybody's suggestions is wekcomed pls.. My interview January 10..thank you

Hello guys. I'm back from my 2.5 weeks vacation to Nigeria. I don't know internet is crazily slow in Nigeria like this shocked I can count the number of times I was able to open few webpages successfully.... most times it's "Error: page cannot be found". It's discouraging to keep refreshing webpage except when it's school related.

Men, I see the reasons people thank God after getting the visa...... most people walking on the streets of Lagos are really angry..... they are not smiling because the country is not smiling at anyone anymore. Lots of gas stations with no gas. Uncountable hotels in every corner you go with lots of hustlers - girls of different shape wink Heavy traffic, smell of burning soot mixed with noises..... men, environmental pollution everywhere. Heat wave o! shocked .... my first full day in Nigeria, I showered 5 times but with time I started getting use to it and my showering cuts down to 2 per day, sometimes I do 3. I experienced excessive sweating throughout my staying. But I'm glad that I was able to make enough visits to old places and friends.

The intriguing story: so we took our traditional and white wedding to Nigeria after 3.5 years of marriage in U.S. The event was colorful and fantastic....... Lagosismyhome, it seems you know..... how? Well, three days later, I met Ojap on WhatsApp. He asked for my full name, date and place where the wedding was held. Then he said he thinks his dad attended. He sent me a photo proof and in the photo is my mom, his dad and my aunty........ his dad is my mom's younger brother (extended family).... my uncle cheesy It's so funny that Ojap and I are family. Ojap is my good friend which I met here in 2011 and our friendship offline has been great. I see the reason it's good to be good to everyone. We don't know where or how we will meet tomorrow.

Oh! Before I forget the combined shayo for these guys:

You guys were told that going for another BS or MS after you already got same degree is no good..... a bad deal.

VO now nodding harder and harder..

Me: (now feeling like a don jazzy singing ogbeni feli feli continues)...and there is the need to..... (I went blank. Mind you, i never crammed this o. I was flowing and VO was nodding his head and all of a sudden I forgot what I was saying entirely and where i was drivinf at.)

VO was still nodding his head and looking at me ooooo and with the expression in his face, was like, hey? Whatsup nah? Continue, am enjoying the gist...

Me: (I opened my mouth to talk, but nothing came out. Hey? I was doomed....)

VO: angry

Me: (stammering....) Am sorry sir....

VO: Just calm down. Take your time.

You have the potential but you came off as an ingenuine applicant because you started stuttering at the crucial time.

Work on your composure. I think I told you something like this after the first interview.
