Personally I think the system favours women with children as the Home Office will never separate a child from its mother. A lot of people of different nationalities have had to remain in the UK illegally for various reasons. It is not advisable to do so but in your condition I do understand as you have young children. However, you will not be able work, open a bank account or rent a house and so many other things.

I do know of someone who came to the UK with a visiting visa, had children here and was able to legalise his stay when his kids turned 6 and 4. The application was initially refused by the Home Office but he won the appeal as the Home Office lawyer didn't turn up. Usually kids born in the UK qualify for citizenship after 10 years regardless of their parents status.

Thanks I appreciate

Well, all this visa thing wey man dey invent, shey when oyinbo people invaded Africa in colonial era, did they come with visa...Now that things are reversed, they are restricting. When Christopher Columbus discovered America, did he go with Visit visa...all na brain washing things

I always wonder why even today we Africans and probably some South Americans and Asians are the only ones with visa restrictions. Most other nationalities can travel anywhere with little or no restriction.

If our politicians replicated the lifestyles abroad, in their respective local environments. Mass migration would not be the only means to fulfil life offerings.....

And because our politicians have failed in providing the very basics, for its entire citizenry. Our cousins in the abroad know that when you go visiting our richer cousins, we would never want to return home........ Hence the visa restrictions (and we also have General Gowon to thank). During his rule, he mandated the British government impose visa restrictions on Nigerians........

Simply put as we won't want to live, case in point all around and dose countries with no restriction are basically the same in providing amenities nd way of life

Memory foam is very good, it moulds your body structure, with bed, as you turn when mosquitoes are chopping you....

Try buying a memory foam topper to test.......

And memory foam pillows are equally good...........

What you said is true but it is based on something else. White peoples don’t really care about flashy cars, however some of them spend on clothes and shoes. My hubby is the most simple man I know and still the cos of his outfit breaks my heart, especially as I’m a loyal primark customer! Also during my work training, the trainer asked a question “what would you do if you had 10k now?”, i shouted save or invest, everyone looked at me like I was drunk then started discussing how they would travel and all (I’ve never felt more embarrassed before, they looked at me like I’m an ijebu man- or woman in this case).

I believe in making use of the financing system because it’s one of the things that differs this country from Nigeria, however ensure you pay back. My credit card is not even on the “pay the minimum option”, even though it’s interest free for some months, I pay the whole thing back. So financing isn’t bad unless you have a knack for buying what you can’t afford.

You hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately some people get carried away forgetting that at the end of the day there is nothing like a free meal. There is always a sting somewhere.

After 4months of consistent search, numerous applications, several interviews and plenty rejection mail and calls, calling several recruiters day in day out, editing CV and cover letter up and down, prayers and all. Almighty Allah has favoured with a good job relating to my profession (Quantity surveying) at the least time I expected it.

I wi'll post more epistle and processes later to encourage so many spouses of intending and present migrant on Tier 2 or other visas

Part 1 of the search

Immediately we settled in I applied to job boards, contacted some people for directions and how to go about it, I was so hungry and determined to be successful but mehn, I did not even get any call or anything, it was disappointing but soon after I get dejected I carry laptop again and browse for different information, look through old contact to see who can help then contacted duppyshoo (God bless you mama) who helped review my CV and tweaked it a bit and also sent some more options which led me to more job boards.

After then somethings changed some recruiters started contacting me but still was not enough, then one day I just decided to start visiting the recruiters website individually on all post I was interested in, apply through there website and then go ahead and contact the person in charge of the role and follow up with emails and all, infact I started stalking some recruiters on LinkedIn, and still that did not yield much result.

In between I applied for tesco store assistant job oo, went for the interview after passing the online interview and of course was not giving the job but it exposed me to competency based interview and group interview which really helped me afterwards. Also did a lot of online test for Morrisons, Lidl and co

Continued

I started applying for graduate jobs due to my recent UK masters (did it via DL before I even knew we would come here at all) and does ones were filled with more online SHL testing and complex application. I kept applying and hoping. Infact i became obsessed, more because I have a family member who told me outrightly I won't get a job in my profession most likely will become an housewife for few years cos of cost of childcare and how UK isn't favourable and so many scary things.

Then I decided to do support worker job because of desperation of I sha want to work, hubby was not happy but sha supported whatever i decided. Luckily after applying, doing some online tests and assessment centre I got 2 offer for support work and I settled for one, it looked easy because I was to work with just one individual and it will be 2 staffs to 1 patient.

So I started d verification process which could take couple of weeks and all and I decided to use the opportunity to intensify my effort, amidst all my frantic calls was one recruiter that seems open enough to my Nigerian experience and just asked me a few questions and told me the company's name and sent me the personal company questionnaire to fill and how they should call me for interview shortly and suddenly she stopped contacting me just like the many hopes and promises of others.

Some told me outrightly they couldn't help me because of my foreign experience so I gave up on recruiters.

Then suddenly I got a call from a big company (Arup) And in my mind I said WOW this is it, prepared for the interview like anything and dazzled them oo grin grin

P.S no one should be discouraged about the bolded especially when you are here on a legal basis

Then the wait began after the interview, as per daily work is to apply for a job na smileyna so I applied for another trainee Qty surveying role oo, meant for apprentice and fresh graduate sometimes (any way na way), wrote an epistle on why I want the job, then moved to phone interview where I said I was keen and eager to learn new things all over again and won't mind the role at all and then I was invited for the last stage (assessment centre) And I had 3weeks to prepare for presentation and all, so i focused on dt.

Suddenly the call came from Arup oo, only for them to tell me I did so well but my experience doesn't match bla bla bla. Chai all.hopes and dreams dashed. I was saddened.

Then the recruiter of my previous application of over a month just called me that the company is interested in meeting me for an interview and gave me 2 days notice, in my mind I was like another time waster and just told her there was no where I could put my kid on such a short notice that if they can arrange it for a more convenient time I don't mind and voila she was able to reschedule for a week after insisting they wanted to meet all candidate that same day.

Another preparation of defending stories and I went for the interview as scheduled, talked and talked and after 20 to 30mins it ended. In my mind I was like they already had there candidate and just wasted my time because I was used to 1hr or more interview and the interviewer did not even stress me.

Na so I receive a call like the next morning to be offered the job oo and the lady was like we were so impressed by you and your qualifications and will even increase my salary expectation because of my Msc degree.

It all felt soooooo unbelievable till I saw the contract and all welcome emails like ......God is good. Infact I am still waiting to be pinched back to reality

Morale of my epistle

1. Never give up because when you do that's when all hope will be lost.

2. Put God in all you do.

3. Follow up as much as you can, your job is in that plenty lot of impossibilities

4. Also make sure ur CV and cover letters are up to standard and constantly edit and review

5. Always focus your past experience on the expected job role and responsibilities

If anyone needs interview etiquette and questions, I have got some good ones I did not see on google
