VARIANTS

The Lenovo Z5 is available in two variants: 6gb ram with 64gb memory, and 6gb ram with 128gb memory.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is available in three variants: 3gb ram with 32gb memory, 4gb ram with 64gb memory and 6gb ram with 64gb memory.

To perfectly compare both, you'll need to look at their 6gb ram with 64gb memory variants.

PRICE

The 3gb ram variant of the Note 5 is
cheaper than the z5 but the 6gb ram variant is more expensive or around the same price as the z5. I think it's more expensive though.

CAMERA

The note 5 has 12+5 mp rear cameras while the z5 has 16+8 mp rear cameras. The z5 has better picture quality and takes better pictures in low light conditions than the note 5.

The note 5 has a 13 mp (not 20 mp as is often said) front camera while the z5 has a 8 mp front camera. I read somewhere that the z5 does not have front flash. I don't need it anyway so I don't mind

The z5 has Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its front and rear cameras while the note 5 only has AI in its rear camera.

FEEL

The z5 has a more premium feel. It has a notch and is covered in gorilla glass 3 in its front and back.

The note 5 looks like your regular Android phone. While it has small bezels, it's not as small as the z5.

The note 5 only has gorilla glass in its front but not its rear. The gorilla glass model is unnamed and there are speculations that it's not even gorilla glass.

COLOURS

The z5 is available in three colors: one is black and the other two are shades of blue. The blue colors are very dope and cost about $10 more than the black.

The note 5 is only available in the regular black, blue and gold colors.

USB

Z5 has USB 3.0 while note 5 has USB 2.0.

FAST CHARGING

Both support fast charging but only the z5 comes with a fast charger. You'll need to buy a Qualcomm certified fast charger for the note 5.

RELEASE

The z5 is newer than the note 5. It was released earlier this month while the note 5 was released in February. The note 6 will even be released anytime soon -- probably around September. This means the note 5 is about to become "outdated".

BATTERY

The note 5 is the winner here. It has a bigger 4000 mAh battery compared to the z5's 3300 mAh battery.

SIMILARITIES

SCREEN

The z5 has a 6.2" screen while the note 5 has a 5.99" screen. Both are curved around the edges though the note 5 seems to have a steeper curve.

The z5 has a higher screen resolution than the note 5. But that doesn't make much difference since the z5's larger screen made it end up with a pixel per inch (PPI) of 403, just like the note 5.

OTHER SIMILARITIES

Both support dual SIM and memory cards but you'll need to sacrifice the second sim slot to use a memory card.

They both have the earphone jacks but none comes with an earphone. They also have the same processors and come with free pouches.

They also have their own user interfaces, ZUI for the z5 and MIUI for note 5. I don't know which is better but I don't mind. They're both Android anyway.

The note 5 has a higher ppi, according to gsmarena. Tbh miui is better than zui, man pass man and its not just all is android matter. Notch is ugly to be fair, it's will be curbed with further iterations of phones. The camera department is still debateable, cus obviously the selfie is better on the note 5. The colors is 5 for the redmi note 5, red, blue, rose gold(pink) , gold, black. The time of release doesn't make a phone outdated. It's the configuration that makes a phone outdated. According to gsmarena gorilla glass not specified in the z5.

Lenovo Z5 is a new phone and no one has managed to create an in-depth review yet. It has only been released in China with India and possibly, the rest of the world to follow soon.

There's conflicting information regarding z5's ppi. All the sources I've read and watched agreed it's between 402 and 405 but I settled for 403. All the sources I've read and watched agreed that Note 5 is 403.

Whichever, there will be no difference between the displays of both phones, even if the z5 is at 405.

I agree with your colors. Note 5 is available in black, red, gold, pink and blue. The red variant was launched about two ago. But the Z5 still wins in feel. It's glossy and the colors, especially the two blue variants, are mad and unique.

On the release date: I know the time of a phone's release doesn't make it outdated. This is even the reason I put the outdated in quotation marks. What I was trying to point out is the fact that the Note 6 pro is just around the corner and will quickly overshadow the Note 5.

I've never used MIUI or ZUI but I agree that MIUI is likelier to have the upper hand.

Lastly, Corning stated that the Z5 uses Gorilla Glass 3 here: https://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/worldwide/en/products-with-gorilla/lenovo/z5.html

I've realized long ago that GSMarena is not a very reliable source for phone details.
The source you posted even mentions that the Note 5 uses gorilla glass even though neither Xiaomi nor Corning have confirmed it.

I couldn't even find any mention of the Note 5 on Corning's website. Xiaomi itself doesn't claim using gorilla glass on the Note 5. It says it uses "durable" glass.

GSMarena also states that the z5 does not support memory card even though it does.

So now it is Lenovo Z5, formerly it was Asus ZenFone max pro M1. Then Oppo F7, Vivo V9. At the centre of it all is always Redmi Note 5.

Why always Redmi Note 5 undecided wink

It's always Redmi Note 5 because:

1. The Note 5 is Xiaomi's closest competitor to those phones you mentioned.

2. This is a Xiaomi thread. Here, people analyze Xiaomi phones and compare them to their closest rivals.

Ok as much I like getting into untested waters, I can't use a phone that am not sure would get at most 2yrs support as a daily driver. Would be interesting if the z5 is launched outside china cos dealing with these phones without global support is meh.

You didn't get the sarcasm...

1. It's the closest and we are using it to compare. They can't use above rival/phones and be comparing. We like it like that. No more comparison argument.
2. Comparing to feel sad? Few of us don't want comparison. Xiaomi is already good in its niche. What we want is a further price crash...

China ROM
1. China specific applications installed
2. Quick updates and release
3. Stable and official ROM for all Redmi device
4. Lacking Google tools

Global ROM
1. Pre-installed Google tools
2. No China related applications installed e.g typical example, change region to India, immediately some apps will appear. From this, you will know what I mean
3. All languages available
4. Stable and international ROM for Xiaomi. Updates only come to Global ROM after China ROM has been updated

Based on my research. Asides these two, we have additional two.

Modified: Just added these pictures

Thank you very much. I think I will stick to Global Rom

So I am gonna buy Redmi Note 5 AI 4+64 Global version.
