Thanks for your reply. I actually want to upgrade my ticket from a one way ticket to a roundtrip ticket. Currently the roundtrip cost 165k on their app while I paid 255k for a one way ticket. I'm wondering if i'll be refunded the balance of cash paid when I upgrade to roundtrip. However I'll try sending a mail as you have advised. Cheers.

are you talking about the Ethiopian airline app ?
If yes,
It splits the round trip fare in two, outgoing and incoming rate, I am pretty sure the fare you have seen is for outgoing alone, you will later see the incoming fare, and it will be summed up to nothing less than 400k

You are right, the price I was seeing was the outgoing fare. However the total price for a round trip is 320k on the app and i think its still a fantastic deal for those that are yet to book. I tried booking for February though.

If the total cost of the round trip is 320k, I'll suggest you add $300 to it and compare with the cost of booking a return ticket (255k + return ticket) before cancellation/upgrade.

The cost of upgrade is $200 and the quotation they'll give you from their system will definitely be higher than what you'll find online.

Yeah, I've ruled out that option. Will just stick with my one way ticket. Lesson learnt, next time I'll carefully consider all my options before making reservation.

Moreover is it not here we learnt Nigerians are not qualified for work permit? Anyone that raises work permit issue here is always told that he is about to be defrauded or has it changed now? The much i know is that Nigerians are only qualified for work permit after graduating from school here.

This is my belief too. I've been discouraging someone from paying an agent 1.5m for work permit. Told him to apply for EE but he's just stubborn.

Pls can someone confirm Nigerians can get work permit? The 1.5m is paining me even if it's not my money.

Hey I live in Montreal and also have a few number of friends that study at Concordia. I could connect you with my friend in terms of your admission chances, but then, Concordia is a great university to study journalism. Quebec pronvince is an adorable place to settle in, especially if you are willing to learn french. Why are you interested in Journalism? haven't come across any African folk into that specialty. Feel free to connect with me via Nairaland's email.

Bonne chance!

I am looking at changing field on landing, being doing a lot of python self learnt programming, writing scripts to do simple tasks and do other things.
What application of the python language has the highest prospects for jobs...web?automation? Apps? ML?

I have Google about jobs over there, but may I learn from your experience?

Good day,
Anyone, please?

TITILOLA88:
Happy new year guys!

I hope to get my PR soon and I would love to switch careers...to the HR industry. I do not have any background knowledge or experience and I know in order to start, I will definitely go back to school, for a diploma. Is there anything that I should be doing while getting ready for school? Courses and certifications maybe, or better still, online courses? Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by joo2018: 6:52pm On Jan 03, 2019
It is a complex something. Canada issues 2 types of work permits: Open work permits and Employer-specific work permits. Nigerians are eligible for either if they meet the criteria.

For Open work permit, you may be eligible if:
are an international student who graduated from a designated learning institution and are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program
are a student who’s no longer able to meet the costs of your studies (destitute student)
applied for permanent residence in Canada
are a dependent family member of someone who applied for permanent residence
are the spouse or common-law partner of a skilled worker or international student
are the spouse or common-law partner of an applicant of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
are a refugee, refugee claimant, protected person or their family member
are under an unenforceable removal order
are a temporary resident permit holder
are a young worker participating in special programs
see here

As you can see, all these require you to have some sort of Canadian connection. No agent can get that for you unless he/she lies in your application.

Employer-specific work permits is where it gets messy. These permits are issued under 2 programs:
Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and International Mobility Program (IMP).

For TFWP, your employer must raise a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before you can be given the work permit. Basically, your employer must prove that no Canadian or permanent resident is available to take the job (see here).

The conditions for IMP are:
i. generally the same as for open work permits, only this time the permits are employer-backed (a Nigerian can get such if he/she also qualifies for open permit)
ii. Intra-company transfer (if you company has a branch in Canada and transfers you)
iii. based on international agreements. Certain ctitizens of US, Mexico, EU, Australia , NZ etc (Nigeria is not there).
iv. others
see here, here, here

So basically for employer-specific, the agent must guarantee you a job with a LMIA.

Please landed Seniors in Calgary.

I need your advice regarding booking an Airbnb in advance?

On the average, how long is it advisable to book? How long is it likely to take us to get accommodation after landing in calgary?

I am landing in April. ( Family of 4). I want to book our Airbnb on time so I need an idea of how many days to book?

Python is used for a lot of things and which ever path you follow, you would see opportunities. That being said, to have a long career in software development, you have understand that programming languages are a means to an end. Being able to speak English and being an effective communicator are two different things. The same also applies to knowing a programming language and being a good developer.

I do not intend to bother you. But what "means" are the most common in the canadian job field from your experience?
