Tier 2. All agents ask me where I like to reside. Now I think of where to reside in terms of affordability of housing compared to London, availability of jobs and friendliness of the people. Now the best u have been able to do is to give me no answers.

I sincerely hope u can assist with answers as u used to in the past.

Much regards.

Old age is catching up very fast with me ........ grin

Plenty jobs for you ........ Some employers/agents would provide you an initial settling apartment ......... Any options on the table presently ? Ask the agents to recommend places for you, based on availability of work and post options... They we might be able to guide you....

Plss I would love to relocate to the UK really soon. Can someone tell me the most affordable and friendly cities to reside in the UK. With very affordable housing, friendly indigenes, and fair weather. Not the extremely cold zones.

Thanks

Your question is a bit difficult to answer as people will generally have information about places they've lived.

I only have experiences of Scotland and South East England so far.

Cheap is relative, you have to factor in ease of transport, what sort of area you want to live in,what sort of environment ,schools, availability of work.

Scotland is cheaper but it's not as diverse.

The rail links aren't as widespread as England so driving is usually a good idea except on days when you are snowed in.

People are usually very nice, you may find racism here and there but it's not rampant in my experience and mostly depends on where you reside whether it's blatant to your face racism or the one that pretends and keeps it inside.

Standard of living is cheaper, the more expensive parts of Scotland and still cheaper by a bit in comparison to England.

There are no agency fees to pay for rent but you will pay a deposit eg if rent is £700 you'll pay £1400 or 1500 on the first month.

You do not pay bills for water like in England as it is factored into your council tax.

Weather isn't exactly stable, its sunny and rainy at the same time.

I have lived in the West of Scotland:

Glasgow is okay. You'll also see a number of African faces, some workers, many students due to the Universities there.

It has a Nigerian restaurant with expensive food owned by a man who never looks happy.

There are a few shops available where you can get Naija food.

The town centre is bustling with activities, lovely restaurants, friendly people, you could spend all day listening to music, watching buskers and just walking round all the shops

Restaurants plenty: I recommend

Viva Brazil( it's a place where you are served different cuts of beef from the menu..you will almost faint from the amount of meat you are served.)

Wagamamas

Bibi's for Brazilian food

Butchershop- Amazing for good service and wonderful steak

Miller and Carter

For schools and a nicer environment I would recommend:

East Renfrewshire- Newton Mearns,Eaglesham

Jordanhill
Bearsden
Milngavie
Kenzie
Bishopbriggs
Helensburgh
Anniesland

Jobs: Depends on your area of specialty

Money: Pay could be less than that of England but is matched by the cheaper standard of living.

I will write more when I remember.

South East of England:

Nice,costly,diverse, hotter than Scotland.

I hope people chip in about other parts.

Helloooo my people,

Now i got an email from a different Property Manager (I'm guessing she is now the new Manager in charge of our property) on another complaint, see below the mail:

Good afternoon,
I do hope that this email finds you well.
We have had another noise complaint regarding this property.
Please ensure that you keep the excessive noise such as banging down to a minimum.
If we receive another complaint we will have to take this further.

I have got a lot of things against her but then again, i need to add more points to ground her, hence my coming here and also to share.

The said tenancy agreement was for 6 months and expires next month, we have indicated our interest in renewing to avoid the stress of moving house, and she even went ahead to send us a new contract the same time she sent this mail.

I will reply her as soon as i get enough points and will ensure i copy their general office email and see what comes out of it.

As you're not in a very flexible position moving etc. Just send another standard apology and explain you have fitted very thick rug/carpet to reduce the noise and also you're constantly monitoring the baby. I dont think the agent themselves want to deal with an empty property

you have grievienance against the same tenant making the complaint or the manager?
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Yinkzy03: 6:38pm On Jan 18, 2019
The Manager, i don't think she approached it well.

But she has only sent just this one email, no?

And it seems bog standard to me, seems like an email someone will send if they just want to act like they are responding to the complaint- she even sent you the next contract.
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Yinkzy03: 8:54pm On Jan 18, 2019
No, it was a second complaint after they had told us it wasn't a problem...

Unfortunately they have to act. Since the neighbour complained again.

How would you prefer her to handle it? Call a meeting with the neighbour...?
Apart from the noise are you guys in good standing?

Yeah, we are in good standing and that's why they are willing to renew the tenancy for another 6months.

A lot of grammar with very little help I must say.

We all know that cost of living in North Ireland, or Northingam or even scotland would be far less than London, and presumably, there might still be jobs with considerable pay there. It is in these terms I speak.

No problem at all if u have no answers. UK is a must by any chance.

The Max rent I can pay for my family is 700. I am coming to UK to upgrade my economics, as much as my standard of living.

A productive weekend

Hi,Have you tried Google? sites like zoopla, rightmove can show you how much rent is.When i was moving, i googled ''most temperate part of the uk'' and specifically asked tolive in cornwall and environs. I got a twofer because i now live in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Even when it gets cold here,i console myself with how great i have it compared to manchester(hahaha) and edinburgh (bigger hahaha).

I do wish you luck in your search.

In other news,I m looking for akanwu(potash) in exeter. Homemade nkwobi would really hit the spot nowsmiley

Thanks. Great response. I will search those sites now and rigorously at that.

It's really difficult advising a particular city to settle in as so many factors needs to be considered as earlier stated, but I can understand your dilemma as I was recently in your position.

If You have families in the UK, I may advise choosing there as it helps settling in for the first few months and sometimes with childcare as well. Note that, when you choose a place, d recruitment agency may not necessarily have openings available for you and thus extending your move.

However, to make things sort of easy for you I will suggest option 1 if affordable housing and cost of living, multicultural balanced environment, accessible african foods that are not too pricey, fair access to jobs in different backgrounds, fair weather, Nigerian churches (think they are everywhere)

1. West midlands (most places in this region is close to Birmingham which is like the 2nd biggest city in the UK after London and houses are quite affordable. You can use the picture attached to search for house prices on rightmove and zoopla)

2. Anywhere outside London but within England (Because of fair weather and probably more blacks)- you will save good money on housing and maybe cost of living, but note that is like the happening city just putting it mildly...

If you choose London, your wife stands a higher chance of getting a job in her field than anywhere else I believe, if that matters to you.

All the above is just from my little experience of being here and also deciding to choose between scotland and england for a start and I haven't obviously explored other parts of the country.

Lastly, pray for guidance in choosing the right place that will favour your family.

The most important is your budget and job opportunity, if you have young kids , then access to cheap childcare and good schools have to be considered.
