Another batch of 131 Nigerians would be deported into the country on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, from the North African country – Libya.

The impending returnees, consisting of males, females, and toddlers are expected to land in the country at 9pm on Wednesday through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

A source close to one of the security agencies at the Lagos Airport confided in our correspondent that a chartered aircraft, a Boeing 787-800, belonging to Buraq Airlines with the registration number 5ADMG would return the deportees to Nigeria.

The Nigerians are being deported from the war-torn North African country for illegally entering and residing in Libya.

The stranded Nigerians would be assisted back to the country through the humanitarian efforts of International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and special funding from European Union (EU) for reintegration process for the voluntary returnees after their futile attempts cross over to Europe through Libya.

The source told our correspondent that all the security agencies at the Lagos Airport had been notified of the impending return of the Nigerians.

Some of the security agencies included – the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Aviation Security (AVSEC), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Police, Department of Security Service (DSS) and several others.

Besides, it is expected that officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) would receive the deportees on arrival in Nigeria.

It would be recalled that the exercise has been ongoing since 2017 with the 66th flights performed late last month.

As at the last time, over 13, 000 Nigerians have been returned to the country through the exercise.

Most of the returnees had planned to use Libya as a departing point to Europe but were later stranded in the North African country.

iHope they are able to bring more back home.
No one deserves to suffer regardless of whatever decision they took.

And a lesson to be learnt to those who still think it’s bravery and courage to travel illegally by foot.

Very wrong statement. How will you say no one deserves to suffer regardless of whatever decision they took? Thats totally absurd. If u take a wrong decision that goes against common sense and sound judgment, you deserve to bear the brunt of your wrong decision and be prepared to suffer the consequences.

Its just like saying someone who decided to jump in front of a moving bus doesn't deserve d pains he will get when his bones get crushed.

How will you see a country that has being at war for years with no central govt in control of many of the cities and u are saying that's where you want to pass through to Europe and you expect not to suffer.

How do they even think passing thru the desert and the sea to get to Europe without passport and visa will not make them suffer?

As much as i pity them and their igorance, lets put emotional sentiments aside and say it as it is.They deserve whatever they get for their ill-informed decisions. The money many of these peeps spend on this risky journey is enuf to start something profitable in Nigeria !

Bro you are so heartless and unreasonable in mentality. How easy is it for you to judge people's action even with the way this country is going? I have a brother that got to Europe with this same route. He is living fine now. Nigeria can never be better. If I had the I wouldn't hesitated

One major problem with Nigeria is issue of nationality. Nigeria should stop accepting people deported to Nigeria that have no Nigeria passport. No amount of European Union money Nigeria accepts on a nod-nod-wink-wink base will make up for the cost to Nigeria further down the line that illegal aliens will create. Right now, for instance Ebola is out of control in Congo.

Come on people get some grip on reality!!

Start limiting individuals’ entry to Nigeria unless they have papers and see how quickly Nigerians stop taking Nigeria for granted as exemplified by their continual doing the country down with badmouth when they go abroad.

No border control, no checks on individuals, no one pays tax, people talk anyhow, no births and deaths registration, no one knows who is who in the greater scheme of things and yet people expect jobs and western standards of living. Well no amount of well-intentioned government, fiscal budgetary control, investment in jobs will yield improved living unless the basics are sorted... angry
