maybe the island part of Lagos and it's a scam because the cost of living, feeding, occupation and so may amount up to 700k monthly while he's left with 200k, mind u I no even include transport sef
700k basic monthly expense in lagos? For what?
I live what I speak. Unless you're extravagant, why shd you expend 700k per month when your income is 900k? On what basic need exactly?
You can live within or even less than 200k monthly in lagos. Many income earners in lagos earn less than 200k per month so why are they not dead by now if we go by 700k standard per month?

worse!

You want her to outsource her capacity to reason? Why don't she herself commit it to prayer. You want her to open avenue for "tithes" and "seed-offerings" in 3 multiple locations?
Don't be myopic and full of yourself.

na lies oga don't believe this nonsense.
or maybe it's 850k annually

you are doing your moniker justice with your posts.

One has to have an EmptyCoconutHead to not know there are companies paying that much in Nigeria. Someone with 7 years of banking experience (not contract staff) should be earning at least 400k. and that's banking. A sales manager of about 5 years experience in top FMCG companies would earn 500k plus. In oilc ompanies, 400-1million are ENTRY level salaries.

we have not even talked about Tobacco companies (BAT, Habanera, Philip Morris), Engineering (GE, Huawei, Ericcson) or Investment banking (RMB, FBN Quest, etc). Go and find out what experienced hires in those companies earn.

Better believe. I earn 720k a month now aside allowances. I am not satisfied because I am worth more. I have a colleague earning 1.8 million a month. In this Nigeria, people are silent earners.

This is very simple. If she likes her current job, she should absolutely stay with the increased salary. But If she doesn't like her current job, she should leave to the new employer. Her current employer may try to frustrate her or overwhelm her with work now they've increased her pay. But if she feels like her current boss is reasonable and wouldn't try to sabotage her, then let her stay put.

what he said.

Stay with the company. This happens every time, when you newly join a company, you are inexperienced or not as much experienced so your pay may be lower, over time, your salary should be reviewed. However, except there is a general salary standard for that position, your salary may not be reviewed on time, for obvious reasons.

She should stay with her company because for them to increase her salary, it means they know her value and they are willing to match her new offer to keep her based on her current performance, it will show that she is committed to the company and the company will be indebted to her, they will also understand that she is valuable and can easily get a new offer elsewhere.

This new company will not value her as much, they believe they are offering her better than what she’s earning before and as such there’s no where better for her to go. That if her previous place was better, she wouldn’t have left, for offering her better than what she’s currently earning, they will expect her to perform wonders, putting her under serious pressure.

And by the way, she will soon find out that N850k is not so much.

The last line got me

People who actually earn that much are often too skilled and knowledgeable to be seeking career advice on Nairaland.

Its a 50-50 thing.

i will rather advise in two ways.

for me, i will leave.
What if you stay and they decide to mess you up first by relieving you of your job?
Go to a new job where they have nothing against you and where u have nothing against them.

Besides she was applying to leave the company.
why didnt they match her pay before?

Nah boss, staying back will backfire. I can guarantee you it won't take up to 1 year before she is fired. She needs to move now

Lol.
What is the strength of the new coy? Have they been in the business for considerable period of time? If they are not new , then you can leave for the new coy, else, stick with the old coy.

A similar incident happened to my hubby many years back. The new coy was new and has offshore contracts with better pay while the old coy had onshore contracts and he knew the rank and file of the Mgt. They begged him , increased his salary cos they saw him as a key man to the project and sent him on several trainings but he still left regardless.
Less than 2 years down the line, the new coy folded. He tried to go back to the old coy but all the doors were locked cos he left when they needed him most.

Rank the two coys! If the new coy is stable , you should go there cos by confirmation or latest 2 years you should be due for another raise. But if it is a fairly new coy, then you better stay with the old coy and send the new coy a regret letter telling them you would have loved to work with them but your old coy bla bla bla .
End of story

Remove the last digits from each amount stated

N450K = N45K
N850K = N85K

This is the true situation of things. If you truly earn the figure you stated you won't be asking.
