Exactly!!!

Our leaders often take decision without thinking how their decision will affect the masses in general.
Like someone said yesterday in another thread; humanity first before beautification

What will now be the fate of those breadwinners who's source of livelihood either directly or indirectly depends on okada & keke?

Alternatives should be provided, I pray God gives them the wisdom to come out with a solution
Well spoken bro. So unfortunate that our leaders don't think at all. Wat now happens to those that depends on okada and keke riding jst to keep up.

H mmmmm...

The Sanwolu Led Lagos Government should bring out whatever they have to Mitigate this matter . It's gradually becoming a crisis...

Banning okada and keke is not a bad idea, but there should be something workable to take their place..

If nothing is in place, then the okada and keke should be sent back to the roads..

Lagosians should not be put to this! This is Untold Suffering!
good roads and discipline are the only alternatives

Lagos state governor gave out motorcycles in December, Gokada signed a deal with MC Oluomo’s road transport union, in less than 6 months after, this is what they got.

We keep shouting that we want investors in Nigeria, how will an investor cope with unstable policies?

When virgin Atlantic was tapped to come and invest in Nigeria, they only asked who will pay for damages Incase there’s a bridge of contract... They never got a reply.
It’s such a shame that we treat investors this way

Bridge of contract ke?

So so sad to see such sudden change which Sanwo could not say during his campaign days, ironically he got so many votes from these people he sacked without providing immediate solution to mitigate the hardship this policy brought.

In my opinion this doesn't make any sense. Those comparing Lagos with mega cities like Tokyo should also note that they have other means of transportation available to the public. High speed trains, mono rail etc. Population in Lagos is so much, imagine boarding a bus and dragging with over 100 people!

Totally agree. We donot have cogent strategies to tackle any fundamental challenge or achieve any meaningful thing in this country. We need to be cerebral about life, and adopt think tanks that will fashion long term strategies for developing Nigeria. Not ruling off the cuff and knee-jerking at every societal rap around the ankles.

Like I said a few days ago. If you value the entire automobiles, that is bikes and trikes taken off the streets and out of the economy of Lagos state in one fell swoop you will probably get a figure in the order of 100 billion naira. What the government shoukd have said years ago is:

How can get that amount out of the hands of Lagosians and invest it on their behalf on a mass transit system that meets with out development plans and objectives going forward. Come up with a blue print, cook it into a profitable business plan and you will be surprised the average Lagosian will come together to raise half a trillion by way of equity.

There are alternative ways to fund cash heavy investments and like I explained the bond system was used widely in Europe and the United States in the 40's and 50's when those nations were totally broke coming after the world war. As a matter of fact you can trace some of the notable infrastructures today in those countries and some bonds that are being redeemed till today.

We want to upgrade to the standard of united state in Lagos but not ready to sacrifice nor invest in key areas. Sanwo should send his boys to learn how to manage transportation issues in world cities before coming up with the idea of bike elimination. mass rapid transit (MRT) is the solutio. God bless Nigeria.

Seriously a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step....

Lets start from here...

No okada and keke

People will look for sane alternatives themselves (Man must survive)..

But if your choice is to begin robbery (armed & unarmed) bear it in mind that this is the beginning of the end for you?

I have a feeling something good will emanate from this.....

Lagos will be great again..

Imagine that how busstops look like now without the filth of Okada and Keke Napep.

Thats how people complain about Border closure and some wailed to the extent that they wanted to die. But now we are used to it and directly or indirectly, we are ripping the dividends.

Lagosians it only the beginning, we will survive and then from then on better alternatives that people can delve into will be here.

PS: If you tell me that how will they feed their family or people will go into stealing then ask yourselves that what were they doing before they started the okada and keke work or they born them into the world with Keke and Okada

Use your head

A typical Nigerian mentality. That is why we're where we are today. What stops them from providing alternatives first to alleviate the sufferings before outrightly banning the okadas and Kekes like other saner countries would do.

But no, in Nigeria, a government just wakes up in the morning and enforce laws and then begin to think of alternatives later.

Pls sanwo Olu, let the ban be in place biko, you can relax that of Kele for some routes.
Construct and rehabilitate more roads then increase areas for okada ban coverage.
We go survive, Fashola banned dem and heaven no fall.
On keke control, you can introduce colour system per local government or lcda that will make it very easy to identify and monitor for security purposes.
Re: The Struggle To Board A Bus At Iyana Ipaja, Lagos Due To Okada Ban by DownChelsea(f): 3:54pm On Feb 03, 2020
Thanks to God and the government for banning okada and keke.

But this is just the 1st step.

The next step should be to fix all the roads across the state. I mean ALL the roads even to the inner streets.

After that, the next step would be to clean up and sanitize the entire state from all the filth it has accumulated over the last 2 decades.

The final step would be to ensure 100% enforcement of laws against circumventing the above steps..
There would be so much development and sanity in the state therefrom.

In conclusion, what I am saying is this..... Lagos has taken a step in the right direction BUT I have a worry. And my worry is with the state’s pace/ seriousness in following up its actions to justify the step it has taken.

Cos we have known Lagos to be a talkative state where noise is made by the government all the time and nothing is done in reality.
