What annoyed me most was a yoruba movie where a medical doctor advised a patient's relative to go and seek spiritual solution to a medical issue.

In as much as we guys are criticizing, Nollywood it’s the second highest movie producers after Indias Bollywood . Couple with our epileptic electricity supply they built a million dollar industry from nothing but pure dedication and a lot of people are benefiting and are employed by this industry.

Don’t forget the highly acclaimed movies like Lionsheart and the likes of others .

They sure have their share of challenges but great success is achieved through practice and experiments . Nobody got it right overnight.

We should appreciate ours too.

D fact that nollywood is second after Bollywood in terms of volume, doesn't mean that d films are good. Volume or quantity isn't d same as quality. Its our women who are d greatest consumers of nollywood movies. U can't understand d mystery same way u can't understand y they so much love zeeworld and telemundo

I stopped watching Nigerian films:
- When I saw electric poles inside evil forest! Sh!t, are the spirits charging their phones?
- When I saw empty Viju milk can in Heaven
- When a man was shot in the leg but has bandage on his head and arms in the hospital angry

-Of course, the spirits need to charge their phones now....
-Didn't you know that Viju milk is the official drink of the heavenly ones...
-ok...the bullet magically transmigorfied through the leg...into the head and hands and wounded the hands...ok I give up grin!

LOL good ones.

pls stop Condeming then joo, ofcos Hollywood also have many flaws, I was watching "strike back" few days ago, I had to stop at season 3,even when I had the rest of the season with me,
imagine a single soldier, going for several missions in various African countries, to spy, sneaking and beating heavy securities on ground.

What Hangers me most was, him shooting many shooters but the opponent bullet will never hit him, and his always hit the target.
Dropping his gun, just to fight another that is heavyly armed with bear hand combat.

We. All have flaws but that nollywood is worst though, especially their subtitles
Bro that's what we love about Hollywood movies. Their ability to entertain. These ain't flaws, they are just tricks to give the hero a feel good vibe among his viewers.

You're right bro.

All Hollywood action/ British films portray them as super humans and smarter against us Africans.. They'd be dodging bullets, walking through bombs! Indian films worse pass. And Chinese films flying in the air

Abeg make we free our Nollywood hare

USA that just one movie they spend up to 100million dollars. Is what they are using to compare.

That's the yearly budget of some States in Nigeria.

Paranormal activity used roughly 6 million naira to make a damn good movie and they raked in over 1000% in box office and this is a Hollywood movie for that matter and they didn't use up to 100 million dollars ooo, just 15,000 dollars (6-7 million naira).

So now tell me what I'm missing then...

I stopped watching Nigerian movies when you already can predict what will happen at the end while you just started watching the movie.
I hope you know this is not the criterion of what determines if a movie is good or bad. A good movie should be more interested in how we arrive at that end (which is what makes it unique), instead of whether it's predictable or not. This is what Hollywood has mastered.

I've also noticed most Nigerians have very poor taste in movies. We are plot-reliant and you hear lines of 'so what are we supposed to learn from the movie' to films whose end are open-ended and rather want you to think. I can bet many Nigerians have not seen these great movies (because all they focus on is Avengers End Game and Black Panther):

* Parasite (Korean film)
* The Handmaiden (Korean film)
* Shoplifters
* The Favourite
* Two Days, One Night
* Silver Linings Playbook
* Inglorious Basterds
* Birdman
* Midnight in Paris

Ok all movie industry has the good and the bad aspect.....

At a time Nollywood was improving and they were making it but greed seems to be making them regress..

Be proud of your work....take your time to tell the story... Stop shouting into MICROPHONE.....use new and fresh actors......use a fresh perspective ( a story has many sides).....train and use good talent.... Post production is almost non existent and they overhype the things that they can do.

But Nollywood stories are more realistic than others and you can easily connect to the story been told.

I was expecting people like Femi Adebayo to use their newly found connection to improve the industry.... there are so many scenes that I have not seen ( e.g surgery, - white coat and stethoscope does not make a doctor)
