Once again. An ignorant citizenry cannot expect a better life experience and a progressive society. It just cannot happen.

Reading most posts before you come to the conclusion that those on strike are grade school teachers because 'schools' are closed down...or just civil servants who are asked to work from home.

But in other countries you speak of these people as the sum of the intellectual capacity of the nation, a group of diverse expertise that is sorely and badly needed at a time when such a nation is faced with grave danger of scientific origins.

Ignorant citizens I hail thee. But those at the forefront of the battle against this pandemic are not the airforce, army or navy, but virologists, community health experts, statisticians, economists, ent surgeons.... at least those are the folks who I see in America, the UK, Italy and China.

None of those countries have the pool of their egg heads in an administrative brawl with goverment with the citizens cheering from the stands and then being led into life or death germ warfare by goverment officials who are largely illiterate as seen by their antecedents and actions so far.

As some will say indeed, 'who did this to us'. What is just the matter with this country. Please everyone above just sit back for a minute and reason this matter carefully. There are no foreign experts to save us from this one.

Every country is stretched. Every country will sink or swim by its own intelligence. If the pool of ours is at war with their own country then collectively Nigeria is fighting this pandemic with one hand tied behind its back.

I appeal to ASUU to get back to work on a humanitarian basis and place a moratorium on its industrial action till this pandemic is resolved one way or the other.

Please.

It's a shame really

A laughing stock in the comity of nations. When your Presido is busy talking of covick 1-9; other nations are spending trillions of naira on research, competing to get patency rights and to save their citizens by paying social benefits; your leaders are planning to spend 500 million dollars on nta, with no kits for tests in a time of a pandemic, and nothing on education: and you laugh over these coming perils; then there is no basis for you to be called humans. It was by swimming in foolishness that you elected a dumbass by killing hundreds of people to rig him in and, probably, you will loose millions of people pursuing Malthusian economic principles. At the end, your persons, family, friends and society will dance, or cry from far away, very far, from your graves while you hail a man of integrity that the children use presidential jets for picnics. From most of your comments it becomes clearer and clearer why they say that a people deserve the leaders they get. In Fela's voice 'oya oooooo integrity, oya. Oya ooo burn burn oya. Nothing good dey to talk about. Para para para'. We are finished as our future has been stollen, like Lagos by tiefnubu and MC Oluomo. Yeye dey smell, really, no be small.

Stop rambling, your incoherent epistle means nothing to most Nigerians, in a country where we have more market sellers/traders than college graduates, you think people give a shit what you write on Nairaland? You want to make real change, join a worthy cause, start a grassroot campaign, make a serious effort to educate those who truly vote, those who don't even know what Nairaland is, you know those people that would gladly take a bag of rice for their votes.

ASUU indefinite strike has become a yearly event. I think 'no work no pay' should be enforced to discourage unnecessary strike actions.

Walahi! e no easy to be president o. I'm not a fan of Buhari but I really pity him in this case. The president is busy battling corona virus (wey some people fit wan use chop money wey dem Don dey look for) while these ones are busy shouting "strike". Very insensitive people who would rather demand money than support their nation in a time like this
Has tiefnubu, the lizard of ubima, or any of the APC thieves slashed pensions and salaries that are above the salaries of all the workers in their state universities? Has the President, without a waec certificate slashed overseas tour allowances nor salaries. Have senators and generals who run when they hear boko before haram slashed theirs? Why is it ASUU that you would be happy to see reduced to cobblers?

ASUU does not know what is happening in the world?
Instead of them to be praying against coronavirus and how what happened in Wuhan does not happen in Nigeria, they are busy talking about strike, when the whole world is shutting down because of coronavirus.

I don't believe these body is made up of adults, they have behaved like children, coronavirus is in Nigeria, they should go inside there various houses and lock them selves.

This is very insensitive at this trying time when the whole world is on lockdown and global economy on standstill. This further proves how our leaders thinks, only about themselves. ASUU should be ashamed.

Thanks, but desperate situations can only be solved by desperate actions. See, they don't allow your votes count. They won't allow reasoning to count. These are marauding beasts of no nation, after your oppression. You can't lie down to expect Mercy or pity from the wicked. There is a time in the affairs of men that you only speak to people in the language they understand. It is on record that by 1980 when we had less than twenty universities our scholars had international weight. Those great heads have all left the nation because illiterates who don't believe in merit have decided to ignore education. The worst is that they continue year in year out to devalue it from primary to the tertiary. The devaluation is so intense that even affidavit has been ruled to be an equivalent of a certificate. And now dropouts are difficult to differentiate from the educated. Thus, all areas of the nation's institutions are being led by lame ducks. It is now only ASUU and nma that speak to power. From the 1980s till now only these do stand for the people. But, ignorance of the populace, arrogance and ill will of this same group that started the bastardization of professions since 1980s have turned a full cycle again. So, if there is a anyway out, it must be from the trench. It is the ariya now, oya ooo, oya.

Again, how do you expect the market traders/sellers to understand what you're trying to convey?

This is the most useless ASUU strikes in history. Of what importance are they when schools are already closed?

Good riddance!

The primary aim of ASUU strikes is never to close down schools. We have no issues with 'schools' or 'students'.

Our struggle is against Nigerian government. Government is not on holiday neither is it closed down.
