Access bank is a very useless bank. They had issues with their merger with Diamond and were just looking for an opportunity to layoff staff. All their outsourced marketing staff were laid off on April 30 and 340 branches were closed yesterday. See the list below. The MD was willing to take a 40% pay cut thinking that we are foolish enough to not know that whatever he is saving from cost will be shared as dividend amongst share holders. He is the 2nd largest shareholder in the bank. Lastanza: Saudi has a population of 33 million and produces about 13 million barrels of oil per day... Another “oil-rich nation” Kuwait produces almost 3 million barrels per day for a population of 1 million citizens. Nigeria, by contrast, has a population of about 200 million and struggles to produce 1.8 million barrels on a good day... Nigeria is accordingly NOT “oil-rich” (nor tbh rich at all), and if we shared every penny from oil, each Nigerian will be lucky to get 25 cents daily. > 1 Like |

9jaRealist:you said the headline is MISLEADING, prompting the question from me. BTW, for your analysis earlier, I think you need to re-read the post journal. It said the bank would retrench 75% of its work force, MOST OF whom are outsourced. It's self explanatory. |
Re: Access Bank To Cut Staff Salaries, Retrench 75% Of Workers by 9jaRealist: 9:42am On May 03, 2020 |
ubcandid: You do understand the difference between a HEADLINE and the body of a story, don’t you? Frankly befuddled that people cannot understand there’s a reason for SPECIFYING the headline. The headline does NOT match the body of the story and is thus “a tad misleading”. Those third-party staff may work at Access Bank branches, but they are NOT Access staff. If British Airways fires its staff working at the airport, it’s not the Airport Authority’s staff. Realize that many Nigerians love to major in the minor, but abegi let’s not belabor any obvious error. > |

9jaRealist:not need for confusion ignited by you. They're are not access bank staffs but they're part of their workforce, which is clearly stated by the bank in the article. And, to further clarify; the article clearly states that the bank is doing away with 75 percent of its workforce, MOST OF whom are outsourced. That settles it. I see not even a TAD in the MISLEADING. |

ubcandid: With all due respect.... You seem to be laboring under a comprehension deficit. If only stated "in the article" but NOT in the headline... Exactly how by definition does the headline match the article? SMH > |

9jaRealist:with your grammer, I'm convinced that you know what a headline is. I just guess from this highlighted comment of yours, that you've come to terms with your goof, but just beating around to save face. If you go through your first response and compare with this quoted, you would agree that you're beating around in confusion. To spare all these, can you suggest an appropriate headline to fit the article? |
Re: Access Bank To Cut Staff Salaries, Retrench 75% Of Workers by 9jaRealist: 3:31am On May 04, 2020 |
ubcandid: "Access Bank To Cut Staff Salaries, Retrench 75% Of Outsource Workers" Just one (or two) words makes all the difference... Without the highlighted, the (misleading) impression is that it's Access Bank employees. Most Nigerians often neglect details.... But the proper use of language is one of those details that matter. > |
Re: Access Bank To Cut Staff Salaries, Retrench 75% Of Workers by ubcandid(m): 9:32am On May 04, 2020 |
9jaRealist:heck. Dude, I don't know if the video said a different thing, but if you're commenting based on the article, no where was '75 % employees stated'. The word used was 'workerforce' and the headline stated workers. In further, the article stated MOST OF WHOM ARE OUTSOURCED. The percentage of contract staffs that make up their workforce to be retrenched is not given, so also their employees as they also would be affected. Take your time and read again. |

JOB LOSS - Access Bank downsizing staff by 75% this is the news that came over the weekend but today the story is different. Anyway there will definitely be some job losses all over the world after the pandemic because of the recession caused by the lockdown. This is the bitter truth which many organizations will be made to swallow. The best thing to do in times like this is not to complain or heap curses on the management of the organization but to pray that God will give you an idea that will make you a boss and an employers of labour. Secondly we should be ready to change our mindset to align with the new ways of money making. For our information real money making has left the office settings it now on the streets and in the air(on the Net.I will use myself as an example. I am a Registered Surveyor of 20years with a blooming private practice in Abuja but at a point i noticed i had over 50million Naira outstanding debt to be paid by clients whom we executed various projects for. Until i reset my mind to the digital wealth creation trend of the 21st century i was always complaining of being broke. So what happened? i met a friend who introduced me to a home based business recently before the lockdown that required only my smartphone and data. I have aligned to the digital world ever since and during this lockdown the business has been amazing as per residual income generation. I now know that my smartphone can be turned into an ATM that be spitting money for me on daily basis without being owed a dime. What business can i do during this lockdown that can give to be economical between 25k to 30k daily. So anyone who is interested in TURNING HIS OR HER SMARTPHONE TO AN ATM can whatsapp me on 09091137627.

ajl: I say they are not innocent because if they were God fearing and SERVE, they would not be expendable because the bank would need their contribution badly... Anyway, it is fake news. I hope they change their ways. When I was in the bank, they did not consider an heavily pregnant woman, we all stood under the sun for one hour (turn by turn). Their attitude was meant to discourage us so we risk our lives and carry the money back home. Anyone that occupying a position but don't want to work or contribute, should lose their jobs or a more competent person in Jesus name, Amen. |
