gregyboy:tell me the name of the 30 kings in Yoruba land that are of Benin heritage cuz apart from ogoga of ikere who claimed his ancestors are from Benin no king is descendants of Benin. Meanwhile in the first place ur king is descendant of oranmiyan a Yoruba so by extension the king of ikere is also yoruba. Dumbass emir title is not even African but Arabs and its Amir and it’s beinv used as an Islamic title in ilorin. The ilorin people still call him oba cuz that’s the Yoruba word for king. Even the market is still called oja oba. If there is no word called oba in Benin and it’s just an appellation what does name like Obaseki and co means. Why is ur king called oba ewuare. 5 Likes |

TAO11:Oba is undisputed Yoruba from Nigeria to Benin to Togo. The word ba in relation to leadership is ever present. Apart from ojo oba, ojude oba. Long term title like otunba has been present in Yoruba for centuries. Yoruba names with oba attaches to them. 2 Likes |

Moneywomen17:yeah sure. I used fulani because that's what they call their kings and they were the one to ever use the title in Ilorin and Nigeria as a whole. |

gregyboy:u talk too much. U said there is nothing like oba it’s just an appellation. It’s called omo noba nedo. So why do u call ur king omo noba nedo uku akpolopo then call him oba ewuare or eweka again. What does name like obaseki translates to. And am still waiting for the 30 kings that came from Benin in Yoruba land. 1 Like |

illicit: If Ilorin never had an Oba, then what was the title of the Yoruba ruler before the fulani conquest of Ilorin? or was Ilorin always Fulani? The reason Ilorin never had an Oba title is because by the time the Yorubas adopted the Benin Oba title Ilorin was already in control of the fulanis who had introduced the emir title.. 1 Like |

Re: Benins Are The Owners Of Ogboni Confraternity and olokun worship by Moneywomen17(m): 3:19pm On May 10, 2020 |
davidnazee:shut up ilorin doesn’t have oba title. It was a military outpost with no king under oyo empire. Ilorin has an emir but the people still refer to their king as oba cuz that’s yoruba word for king. Did the Yoruba also adopt Otunba title from Benin cuz the word has no meaning regarding leadership in Benin language. Ur word for king is ogie. Itsekiri king is ogiamen (king of the water.) while the title is olu of Warri. 2 Likes |

davidnazee: it is linguist. Ooni is short for Oonirisa ( human god or demigod) Alaafin means owner of the palace. these are titles for Obas (those who presides) in Ile Ife and Oyo respectively. 5 Likes |
