i've been a member of the Uber partner thread for some years now, i started from reading for fun then fell in love with the hustle.... so i ventured into the business 3 years ago, all strategies that kick-started the business were derived from here. i hate to fail, hence i always do my DD very well before embarking on any business so i abandoned my personal car at home then bought a big daddy to test the waters, i registered on Uber/Bolt platforms and drove for like 6 months in my free time.



Having gathered enough experience i supposed, i bought four cars (very sound Local used) to start the business, things were going normal then i bought additional 4 to complement my quest for financial freedom via e-hailing. Within the space of seven months i already bought 15 cars all from my savings literally because i couldn't account for where the previous gains were going per se but i was hoping for better days but my hopes kept dashing away.

My goal was to use the cars for a year period then resell all of them before they start falling apart, for example buy a car for 3m, make 1.2m profit in a year, use 200k for revamping, then sell back for 3m

To shorten the story, i was really overwhelmed by the severe headache in the business, ranging from bad drivers, unfaithful mechanic, traffic law enforcement, police and so on. i became a frequent visitor to the police stations and lastma, this was taken toll on my mental & general health, i'm this easy going person but the business changed my personality to a trouble maker kind of, you know that agbero lifestyle, wether someone is looking for my trouble or not i was always on the edge to spill fire, always feeling so edgy, wether they (drivers) are communicating with me in a cool or harsh manners,my words are always fire and full of anger. i became so paranoid, so bitter because those devourers just don't wish me well.

NB: i handled this business all alone, visitation to the guarantors, verification, inspections are all done by me alone, i believe that was the reason i was having a constant breakdown. Then my mechanic started selling my own vehicles parts to me, like removing my coils (even if i put marks on them to differentiate mine) and whenever i'm not on ground selling same coils to my driver's, sabotaging the cars to constantly extort me and the drivers.

i feel worried whenever i see calls from the drivers because they never called for any good reasons, either to have me send money to them for repairs that occurred through sabotaging far away from my location intentionally or to visit the lastma/ police that seized the car. most of the repairs they call for are fakes and it's just to extort me so they can use same foe weekly remittance.

Two cars were totalled while in operation, both are due to drunk drivers. i got a call from a drunk driver around past 12am, he could hardly express himself well on the phone, he mumbled : trailer hit me, i left the car on the road, i shouted Jesus my heart skipped so fast. i asked him to get the car off the road at least, he said he can't because he was afraid of vandalizer not to attack him, then he said: my mummy will buy you another car.. mogbe.. i couldn't sleep well all through the night. By 5am i rushed to the accident scene, car has been removed off the road by the police to the station causing multiple accidents because the drunkard didn't put a c caution or at least put on the hazard lights. i was detained at the police station because two of the cars involved are luxurious ones, drunk driver had bolted and a visit to his house and that of his guarantors wasn't fruitful. It was a messy one for me.

My method of operation: you are to pay 50k for caution fee before giving you the car then subsequent 30k weekly for rental fee, 50/50 repair fee between drivers and owner, any damage incurred by the driver will be fixed by him. Unfortunately some of the damages incurred by my drivers saw to the end of some of the cars, like engine damage caused by driving in the flood, damaged gear box because the driver didn't bother to gauge the oil or due to oil leakage etc.

Only four of the drivers were so responsible,you don't need to call them before payment, the rest you will have to call, threatening them continually before they pay, it was so draining.. One morning, i woke up with irregular heart beat and i said to my self, enough is enough. i accepted that i've failed and i decided to move on, i decided to sell the remaining 13 cars of which almost all of them were in a bad condition due to a constant use or badly used even though we service them monthly. Having decided that i was going to stop the business, i started using the remittance received from the business to repair two cars at a time then sell off, i continued that way until i sold 11, remaining two with a damaged engine parked in my compound. By this way, i incurred little or no loss capital wise but imagine what i would have gained if i had invested the money in bonds or treasury bills.

Insurance (compherensive) was very helpful but they were also overwhelmed by the constant accidents reports and one (mutual benefits) decided not to partner with me any further while other increase their fee.

i won't advise anyone against this business but make sure you are ready physically, mentally before embarking on it. Set out your rules. One of the challenges i faced was to get a car ready n fit for another driver after a failed partnership with a bad driver who would have damaged the car very badly and his caution fee can't afford the repair.

If i have to do this again in year 2024(rental), these are the things to consider:


1. Insure the car ( compherensive)
2. 150k/200kk for caution fee
When caution fee is exhausted, retrieve your car
3. 50k for weekly fee
4. Only have small numbers of fleet you can manage, because you will be vulnerable and easily overwhelmed, one car, one headache
5 don't depend or expect much responsibility from the guarantors, most of them are poor.
6. Select your drivers carefully, some of them are drug addicts, gamblers and womaniser. i've had to retrieve a car from a hotel where the driver lodge with an olosho but refused to pay rent for three weeks.
7. Inspect your car weekly or bi weekly
8. Avoid familiarity with your mechanic, be ready to change him at any time and avoid him buying parts for you to prevent sabotaging, buy your own parts your self.
9. Install tracker to enforce shutdown of the car
10 avoid amateurs/novice drivers, some of them only know how to move the car forward, they don't listen to the car functionality or know the warning signs on the dashboard. A driver knocked my engine because he doesn't know the oil spillage logo on the dashboard

When the Japanese Navy Air Service bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941, their goal was to knock out America's air power in the Pacific and prevent Uncle Sam from joining the Second World War.

They achieved precisely the opposite. Roused to indignant fury, the American public were instantly committed to the Allied cause – and Japan found itself facing a new and mighty enemy.

In yesterday's devastating attack on thousands of pagers operated by Hezbollah terrorists across Lebanon, i fear we have witnessed the Pearl Harbor of the 21st century.

The operation was of course spectacular on its own merits – with at least nine dead and more than 3,000 injured, reportedly including Iran's ambassador to Lebanon.

Yet its wider significance is certain to resonate in the months and years to come.

If Israel, like Imperial Japan before it, thought this massive attack would serve to dissuade Hezbollah's fighters from entering a full-scale war with the Jewish state, i fear they will be disappointed.

Already the Islamists will be plotting their revenge – and last night, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu was said to be locked in talks at his defence ministry's HQ in Tel Aviv over how to respond to a potential escalation.

So how did Israel actually achieve this?

There are several competing theories. One security expert suggested that the Israelis could have planted 'old-fashioned explosive booby traps' in the thousands of pagers – which are said to have been delivered to Hezbollah fighters only in recent days.

Another theory, more convincing to me, was that the pagers were pre-loaded with a sophisticated computer virus that caused them to overheat, resulting in their lithium batteries catching fire.

this is a known risk of the batteries used in many electronic devices – and is part of the reason why airlines refuse to let passengers carry laptops in their checked luggage.

However Israel carried out the operation, it's ironic that Hezbollah's militants only recently swapped mobile phones for pagers in the belief that they were more secure.

Famously, mobiles carry GPS software that allows the devices – and therefore their users – to be tracked anywhere in the world.

Six weeks ago, Hamas's political chief Ismail Haniyeh was hunted to a guesthouse in the Iranian capital of Tehran – and eliminated. Experts believe his assassination was possible only because his phone was being tracked.

The truth is that Israel excels at precisely this kind of warfare. Decades of facing down hostile neighbours that vastly outnumber its own citizens has led the embattled Middle Eastern democracy to develop a fearsome array of sophisticated military tools, from nuclear missiles and tanks to cyber-weapons.

Combined with this is the ruthlessness of its famed secret intelligence agency, Mossad, in tracking down and eliminating its enemies, from the perpetrators of the Munich Olympics massacre onwards. As we have seen, Mossad always gets its man – or men – in the end.

So what next? If reports are right, and one in 30 of Hezbollah's 60,000 fighters have indeed been put out of action thanks to the pager attack, that will present a severe impediment to the group's operations. The leadership will also be asking searching questions about how to communicate securely with its fighters in future.

With Hezbollah's military organisation disrupted, the Israelis might decide to invade a portion of southern Lebanon to create a 'buffer zone' that could protect civilians in northern Israel from rocket attacks.

i have my concerns about this 'contained' approach. For all the brutal ingeniousness of the pager attack, the consequences for regional security could be dire.

Instead, the pager operation is far more likely to be the prelude to another all-out Israel-Lebanon War – with grim consequences for world peace.

Hezbollah's allies, Iran and Syria, will inevitably be worrying that Israeli intelligence could do the same to them. But even those Arab countries with diplomatic relations with Israel, such as Egypt and Jordan, must now be asking themselves how safe they really are – and whether or not their communication networks are secure. this will weaken Israel's ability to build friendships in the region.

And there could be consequences for us, too. Western democracies will already be assessing what this novel form of warfare means for them – and how they might be able to copy Israel's methods.

i am a driver and i hold my badge with pride. A successful one at that and i don’t even drive much again. The hustle is behind me, the days of driving outweigh the days left behind wheel as ehailling champ. God spare my soul, could careless about yours (i don’t play pretense around animals).

i have siblings, non is into ehailling. Same you have a brother on ehailling and a friend. What have you done to elevate them? Several shops have been gutted by fire at the Mgbuka Obosi Old Motor Spare Parts Market in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the inferno occurred on Saturday night, mostly affecting three shops, including a provision store.

The cause of the incident was attributed to a power surge as a result of a poor electrical connection in one of the burnt structures.

The chairman of the market, Samuel Ifurunwa, who spoke when our correspondent visited the scene on Sunday, said he was alerted to the incident at about 3 am on Saturday, while the market security operatives had quickly swung into rescue operations.

Ifurunwa said, “i was called around 3 am (Saturday) that Mgbuka Obosi Market was on fire. They said one person did some electrical connection in his shop on Friday evening.

“When the electricity was restored around 3 am, the connection sparked fire, which prompted the security operatives to rush to the scene and found out that it was from one of the makeshift structures which was electrified on Friday.

“According to them, the power surge assisted the weak wires in sparking fire, and the wires fell on top of the zinc and escalated to two other shops, despite efforts of the security operatives to put off the raging inferno.

“The security operatives said there was fuel inside the shop. That was what helped the fire to escalate, and because it had gone out of control, the security operatives called fire servicemen of Asaba and the main market but to no avail, they had to call Okpoko fire service personnel, and they came to our rescue and quenched the fire, but not without touching three makeshift structures.

“The man that did the illegal connection has been arrested because we have only one person handling the electricity project in our market.

“We have announced and warned everybody not to bring in any electrician inside our market except the one recognised by the market authority because if found, we will hand the person over to the police.

“One of the affected victims, a woman, said she had warned the man not to make the connection.”

Also speaking, the owner of the shop which made the connection, Sunday Ezekwe, said, “i was called around 3 am that Mgbuka Obosi market is on fire, i don’t know if it was the connection i did that caused it or not, because i was not there.

“i was using electricity before someone disconnected me. When i approached him to know his reason, he said he did not do it intentionally and that i should procure N3,000 cable and reconnect it.

“i called the man in charge of electricity in our market, and he directed me to the man who did the connection. i did not store fuel in my shop; rather, there was fuel in my generator. Due to the nature of my business, i am using a generator also.”

In his reaction, President General of the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, Humphrey Anuna, said he rushed to the scene to see the extent of destruction, lamenting that most of the fire incidents were caused by illegal connections.

Anuna also advised that structures should not be put under high-tension cables, citing the Nnobi market fire incident as a case study.

He, however, expressed concern as to the loss and urged the victims to take heart.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State fire Service said firefighters, led by the fire Chief, Chukwudi Chiketa, were deployed immediately to the scene of the incident and they battled to contain the fire.

Chiketa said the firefighters extinguished the inferno after several hours and returned to the station at 05:30 hours of the same day.

“The Anambra State fire Service on Saturday received a distress call at 2:00 am of a fire outbreak at Mainline of Mgbuka Obosi market, in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

“The gallant firefighters and equipment were deployed immediately to the scene. They fought and contained the fire.

“The fire affected two stores and a provision shop while many other stores and shops in the market were saved. No life was lost. The cause of the fire was attributed to a power surge.

“The general public is advised to always be safety conscious in whatever you are doing, as fire is destructive when it is out of control,” he stated.
