Germi9: No, Pakistan does not depend 100% on China for fighter jets. 1. Pakistan Air Force operates over 70 American F-16 Fighting Falcons and around 190 French Mirage IIIs and Mirage 5s. 2. The jf-17 thunder is a $500 million joint venture between China and Pakistan, agreed in 1999. China builds 42% of the aircraft and Pakistan builds 52% while the engine is imported from Russia. 3. Yes, the 3 jets that Nigeria has bought for $184 million are brand new. |

fashrola: Nigerian pilots and engineers have been training in Pakistan to familiarise themselves with the jf-17 thunder aircraft. Further, Pakistani support staff will be in Nigeria for a one-year contract for help with the maintenance of the aircraft. After that, it'll be Nigeria's responsibility to look after their aircraft. In the real world, nations don't spend billions buying military equipment that have kill switches. |

Fulmigati: Not according to Global Firepower Index Ranking. We are 4th in Africa, they are 5th. We have 200,000 Armed personnel. They have 62,000, They have a stronger Navy with 2 Subnarines. We have a stronger Airforce with more combat aircraft, 22 Alpha Jets, 3 jf-17 thunder multi role fighters, 20 L-39 trainers, 22 Mi-34/24 attack helicopters, 7 Mi-17sh 7sh helicopters, 5 Hercules C-130 TRANSPORT aircrafts, 5 satellites and other utility aircrafts. South Africa has a far more advanced military but less capable. They have Gripens but only 6 qualified pilots. They have 12 Roovial helicopters and a dozen or so Cheetah aircraft. Advanced yes but too small to make an impact. When we got out ass whooped by Boko Haram we swallowed our pride and learned from the Chadians the art of Counter Insurgency, which most armies are not trauned and doctrined to fight. We learnt fast and even hired SA mercenaries to train our Special Forces. Today the Americans and British want to learn how we whooped Boko Haram in 6 months. South Africa got their ass whooped in Central Africa and fled, leaving 16 of their fallen comrade behind. What they were doing in CAR till this day I dont know. But Instead is them to come to us and learn about peace keeping combat operations what did they do? They with Obama sought to cripple out war effort , they ceased funds meant for weapons procurement just to embarrass our government to cover up their failed assets. They see everything as competition for geopolitical supremacy with Nigeria. |
