In the synoptic gospels Jesus uses the word Gehenna 11 times to describe the opposite to life in the Kingdom (Mark 9:43-48).[18] It is a place where both soul and body could be destroyed (Matthew 10:28) in "unquenchable fire" (Mark 9:43). |

Matthew 5:22: "....whoever shall say, "You fool," shall be guilty enough to go into the, 'Gehenna.'" Matthew 5:29: "....it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to be thrown into, 'Gehenna.'" Matthew 5:30: "....better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into, 'Gehenna.'" Matthew 10:28: "....rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in, 'Gehenna.'" Matthew 18:9: "It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than with two eyes to be thrown into the, 'Gehenna.'" Matthew 23:15: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you... make one proselyte...twice as much a child of 'Gehenna' as yourselves." Matthew 23:33, to the Pharisees: "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how shall you to escape the sentence of, 'Gehenna'?" Mark 9:43: "It is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into, 'Gehenna,' into the unquenchable fire." Mark 9:45: "It is better for you to enter life lame, than having your two feet, to be cast into, 'Gehenna.'" Mark 9:47: "It is better for you to enter the Kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into, 'Gehenna.'" Luke 12:5: "....fear the One who, after He has killed has authority to cast into, 'Gehenna;' yes, I tell you, fear Him." James 3:6: "And the tongue is a fire,...and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by, 'Gehenna.'" |

I believe in the existence of God but Clarence darrow said this I am an Agnostic because I am not afraid to think. I am not afraid of any god in the universe who would send me or any other man or woman to hell. If there were such a being, he would not be a god; he would be a devil. |

slimyem: this has got to be the biggest religious nonsense i've ever heard! Lmao@GOd speaking to him gangster style. @sexkillz, I believe I understand your thinking. You believe in a deity but don't believe in the concept of torture after death. That is fine, but don't associate that with christianity or the bible. At the end of the day, we don't know anything. There is no evidence that someone died and came to tell us about what happens after death. Live your life and do good with a clean heart, if indeed it is what religion says but never ever change the context of the bible to what you see fit. That's the problem nowadays. People using religious books to hide behind whilst doing evil. |
Re: Discussion Continues. by Nobody: 12:43am On Aug 28, 2012 |
kandiikane:Yes i have read my Bible. . . A loving God does not torture anyone eternally. In Romans 6:23 the bible says that the wages or consequences of sin, is death. Romans 6:7 also says that he who has died has been acquitted from his sin. Now, if a man dies, gets acquitted for his sin, has paid the wages of his sin, does it make sense to punish him again? In whatever fire? Does it sound reasonable for me to be punished for a debt i already paid? John 5:28 and 29 says that in the last day, they would hear his voice and come out from their graves. . . Resurrected. Now ask your self. Where was Lazarus before Jesus Christ resurrected him? Was he in heaven? Was he in hell for that 4 days? If Jesus called out to Lazarus and he was resurrected, that is the same way he would accomplish what is said in John 5:28 and 29. For a person to die forever means he is not resurrected. I have shown all these from the Bible, pls prove them wrong or forever hold your peace. . . Lol think people, think. |

sexkillz: The heavens where the most high resides is spiritual. The other 2 are physical. When Jesus was on earth, he said no one has been to that spiritual heaven except the one that came from there. . . Him. Erm, who was the guy who ascended to heaven in a chariot of fire wasn't that before jesus' time? Where did jesus quote that? Never came across it. If it's indeed in the bible, do you remember when I wrote, "says the one who will probably use contradictory arguments to make his point" or something similar to that? |

Re: Discussion Continues. by Nobody: 12:47am On Aug 28, 2012 |
All google mehn can't crack my brain The Bible doesn't promise "heaven"... speaking of the "third heaven," where the Father's throne is [where many religions think their dead loved ones are]. Jesus tells us that no man has ever ascended there, except for Himself, who came from there in the first place [John 3:13]. The Bible speaks of "death" as "sleeping" [John 11:11-14] -- dormant, dreamless sleep. "...the dead know not any thing..." (Eccle.9:5). No one goes to the "third heaven" where Jesus is... He says so. We all go to the "grave" [sometimes translated "hell"]. "...there is no knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." (Eccle.9:10) The Bible prophesys of two future "resurrections" in which all who have ever lived and died shall "live again." |

sexkillz: Yes i have read my Bible. . . Sexkillz, stop loling. You are questioning your faith, therefore showing you are not the 'christian' I thought you are when you told me there is a difference between following and practicing. If you read the bible you will also read where it mentions judgement day. |

Re: Discussion Continues. by Nobody: 12:49am On Aug 28, 2012 |
The Bible does speak of the "spirits" of men "returning to God" when they die. "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it ." (Eccle.12:7) This is quite a different revelation from what modern professing Christianity [and other religions in the world] teach. It doesn't say that "good spirits go to heaven"... and "bad spirits go to hell." |

Re: Discussion Continues. by Nobody: 12:52am On Aug 28, 2012 |
It says that "all of the spirits of men" [as yet, unjudged] return to God. Dormant, sleeping, unconscious spirits... awaiting the time of their resurrection... whichever one it will be. No dead people are in heaven "seeing" loved ones, talking to loved ones, visiting loved ones, rejoicing with loved ones, laughing, crying, or anything else in heaven, according to the Bible. The dead are asleep... and awaiting their turn to be resurrected from the dead as prophesied in the Bible. "...even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the Firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at His coming." (I Cor.15:22-23) Even Job knew about the dead and the resurrection -- something about which modern religions are ignorant: "O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! "If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come [see I Cor.15:51]. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thy hands. "For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity." (Job 14:13-17) Job isn't in heaven visiting loved ones. He's dead... and awaiting "his order to be resurrected" from the dead... for his "appointed time." We will see our loved ones again... in the resurrection. |

sexkillz: I am questioning YOU and asking you to READ for yourself. If you cannot read that from your bible, then i cannot help you. LOL! Sexkillz, you don't have to help you, I am trying to help you sort your confusion. ...And I quote what the bible says. See, what I mean by CONTRADICTION. You said there is no hell but the bible does say there is hell. Yet, you found a quote which says that God does not torture eternally(will go look into that passage) ...But he could torture small, nau but not eternal? Again, "says the one who will probably use contradictory arguments to make his point." |
