Good afternoon Doc.
I need your professional advice.
My first son is 4years and we started planning for a second child January. In January saw my period 3rd and according to my app was to ovulate 15th. I was suppose to see my period 29th of January (beforw then had some pregnancy symptoms i think)but it didn't and we thought we had conceived. Fell ill that same day and was treated for malaria and typhoid (after a negative pregnancy test). 20th of February it finally came. I bought ovulation kit and used every other day but got negative result. Just thought maybe cos the product is not a known brand and might not be effective. I had cream/ milky discharge, pelvic pain around the expected fertility week on my app. We baby dance every other day and woala!!! Saw my period today which is not due till 18th. My question is is it possible i didn't ovulate?. What can be wrong and what can i do?

Good evening doctor.

I am worried, scared and confused.
My period normally lasts for 4days but for sometime now, it doesn't get up to anymore.. That of this month didn't even complete 2days.
Although I've had an ectopic pregnancy before and I don't know if that could be a factor.
I've done tests to confirm if I have any infection but it came out negative.

I have also done a scan to show if my reproductive organs are ok and it turned out everything is okay. I've been advised to go for an hsg and hormonal imbalance test which I'm yet to do because I'm so confused.. I'm thinking if it's necessary to do the test immediately since I'm not ready for kids yet or would there be a more negative effect in waiting longer than this.

I assure you that a problem kept today is a war tomorrow. When there is time to attend to anything, don't hesitate to do justice once and forever to it.

Bleeding interval can change at any point,it is usually the interplay between the hormones of the gonad. And how much you bleed sometimes rest upon how seriously they are secreted in both phases making a cycle. Since you aren't going to get married soon, this may give you room to have time to watch through some cycles to see if there could be any promising. Yes! I do hope there is going to be positive changes.

If after a certain period of watch(let's say 3 cycles gone) and things are yet to go your way. Do as once advised. Make an appointment with a Medical Lab scientist, to have your reproductive hormones profiled and a Hysterosalpingography done too. Bleeding is just a result of something deeply seated within, it could be something that may affect your reproductive chances in the long run. While we advice a watch,it is only a period.

Anything is possible. It could be you actually pass a cycle not observing an ovulation. A creamy vaginal discharge is no sign for ovulation though the rest were in place. An ovulation discharge is less creamy, free to touch, less tacky, less sticky and stringy. This is because it is a bit less acidic. Another room for error could be your counting, are you counting right? Also,we may have a possibility no sensitivity coming from the kit.

Just have a good watch next time provided all things are alright. You may actually be in need of a medical doctor should you think any wrong somewhere.

Hello Doctor, Thank you for the help you have been rendering, God bless you. please I need your advice..... I got married 6 months ago and we have been trying to conceive for 5 months. I am 28 and hubby just clocked 33 last week. I have not been worried much I just felt it's too early for such but hubby is super worried and 2 months ago we consulted with a Doctor Who said we are quite young and advised us on how to watch out for ovulation day and the best time to meet but my hubby said he doesn't mind doing a semen analysis to clear that area. We were referred to a lab, we got the result and hubby is perfect. The doctor said we should get ovulation kit so we can track my most fertile day. I started last month but I didn't know I was not supposed to use early morning urine. The first 3 day I used early morning urine and it was negative I later read the leaflet again and googled and discovered that LH can't be discovered in early morning urine. So the fourth day I tried in the afternoon and there was a faint test line with thick control line and I read that this is still negative that both test and control line must have same colour and even the test can be deeper to indicate positive result. I exhausted all the 5 sticks and we got another ovulation kit and it was negative through out the use of 10 sticks. Meanwhile hubby and I didn't meet during this period we were waiting for the positive day so as to have quality sperm because the doc also advised he shouldn't ejaculate for like a week so as to have quality semen. By the time we finished the 10 sticks we knew we have missed the ovulation day. So we prepared for this month, I started taking the test 3 days earlier to the scheduled day as advised by the kit leaflet, so as not to miss it incase it comes earlier. By the third day I got a faint test line and continued. I tested for 8 days and it was that third day alone that I got the faint test line. And during this period we didn't meet, we were waiting for the positive day. We realized this and started meeting may be it might still work but my period showed up today. I am so worried now. We have made so much research above ovulation and still confused about how I can menstruate without ovulating. or is it that the level of LH in me is low? I have gone through the thread (In fact hubby introduced me to the thread) and I am so lost with the terms and several abbreviations. We are planning to go back to the doctor, He is a general doctor but I advised hubby to let us see a specialist (Fertility doc) but he feels it's early for that, that the general doc might be able to help too Please I am sorry for the long story, please what do you advise I am starting to get worried too. Thank you so much

The problem here is one getting to know when she is first going to ovulate. A case where you observe an irregulation the ovulation kit may prove difficult to use. One thing also to mention is the fail ratio that comes with most ovulation kit.

Provided the aforementioned stands not as a limitation. One therefore may necessary seize other adventure to know what might be wrong.
This may require you to make an appointment with medical laboratory scientist to have your reproductive hormones profile. An HSG should be able to tell if there are any structural changes that could cause the delay in getting pregnant too.

I have no cause to say you are not fertile until certain procedures have been followed. You need give up on watching so easily, try a fix on your ovulation and use a good ovulation kit to detect when you are ovulation. When this has failed, see your doctor.

Happy Sunday Madam.

Yes! the pain could result from doing sex or may not too. If it is not then it could have resulted from some factors not yet known. Or simply, idiopathic. Did you take anything before doing sex? It could bsomething you regularly do before this pregnancy or something advised to. Notwithstanding, it was best on how you prevailed on the situation.

You may necessarily as human suffer the mood to have sex,and it is okay to have sex at this week. Peradventure this same situation comes up again, you need discuss this with your Obstetrician. He may advise on your putting sex aside for the now or do it in a more favourable behaviour.

Seek medical aid for your pregnancy any period within your first trimesters until you register for an ANC. So don't wait!

Alright. Yoghurt is good,a good probiotic. But I think the abdominal pains result from it,not the very act of intercourse making. Just stay a bit away from it,your body is somehow I think is acting strange to it.

Hi Doctor , I'm 25 years old. My menstruation stopped coming for 4 months (August to Dec) in 2016, I saw a doctor and after the test results for infection and pregnancy came out negative he prescribed premolut N for me. I took the drugs and I started seeing my period again. It came well and stopped coming Oct 2017. And I have not seen it since then, I went back to the doctor again and he suggested I start taking premolut N again. Pls whats the way out.

Good morning Ma.
I would have advised that a profiling of your reproductive hormones be done to know how much deviated these hormone could have been from their normal range. I would have loved the idea that a HSG also done to know what is happening right inside the pelvis. I would have love also a profiling be done for your thyroid hormones and prolactin. We would have planned on stimulating your ovaries if at all it were coming from poor hormone stimulation,or we would have a choice of helping it further in putting you on gonadal hormones such as estrogen and progesterone to cause you to menstruate . I am afraid that we can actually start a profiling on any of your ovarian stimulating hormone except a period starts or forced to. This assertion does not collect the thyroid stimulating hormone and thyroid hormone as well as the prolactin.

Stay on the Primolut N as directed by the doctor. Soon as bleeding start put up for screening your reproductive hormones for the 3rd day and lastly the 21day . This guidance also covers a condition where your period comes without the use of any medication. When you have done this, let me know.
