A very welcome developement. other Airlines will suit once the upgrade is completed. My bookings will then be the other round. Direct to Enugu and then, later, travel to Lagos.

Please understand that these ratings keep changing yearly based on customer reviews, satisfaction etc.

Ethiopian airlines is the fastest growing in Africa. They are good.
EK are best in cargo.
But SA took the crown 2nd year in row.

SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS wins the Best Airline in Africa award at the 2012 World Airline Awards held at Farnborough Air Show
In order

1.South African Airways

2.Kulula

3.Air Mauritius

4.Kenya Airways

5.Egyptair

6.Mango

7.Ethiopian Airlines

8.1time

9.Air Austral

10.Air Seychelles

Next year Ethiopia may win the crown if they up their service kabisa. But I know they are way up there in service.

For crying out loud, Ethiopia was never colonize.

Ignorance is bliss really!

Some of we Nigerians like denigrating other people/country's achievements. At least before saying things you probably don't know, why not google it out to know before you type nonsense on a public forum.

Like some one aptly said, "we are being deceived by all that Nigeria is the Giant of Africa rhetoric"

FYI, Ethiopia has become the second country after Japan to take delivery of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Ethiopian Airlines has bought 10 of Boeing's flagship aircraft, Ethiopian Airlines is one of Africa's biggest airlines. The state-owned company serves 69 international destinations.

Blighted by drought and famine, ongoing border conflicts and claims of political oppression, that is the side of Ethiopia we hear most about.

However, you might be surprised to know it is one of the world's fastest growing economies.

Little wonder that it is fast attracting the attention of foreign investors, long nervous about putting their money in Africa.

High annual growth since 2004 was sustained in 2011, though predicted to be at a slower rate in 2012 and 2013. Ethiopia will still be among the fastest growing non-oil producing economies in Africa.

sandee575: What we should be thinking is that if foreign airlines designate their routes across the country, local airlines will wind up because they won't have any passengers left to carry. Its already bad enough as it is because Kano, PortHarcourt, Abuja and Lagos are already being serviced by a number of foreign airlines. The same countries concerned shall not condone such a thing in their boudaries.

You should tell your local airlines to run their airlines "FIRST" with customers in mind and NOT profit in mind. Foreign airlines may not be the best, but when locals try to double up on profit, and service is POOR (keyword - poor service), then don't HATE on those exploiting it. Airline is not that easy to operate, it take expertise and patience to run an airline, Nigerian investors want quick turnaround, IT WILL NOT WORK. Until a healthy Nigerian competitors comes into the market, complaining will not solve the problem, besides, I thought Arik Air was a Nigerian airline? The airlines services almost ALL major routes or don't it ?

this is a very ignorant post. Ethiopia is the only african country to have never been colonized. It has had independence for almost 4000 years.Read the history. [/quote] Not really, Ethiopia was temporarily colonised by Italy before they fought the Italians and defeated them, i think it was in the 1920's and have been independent since then

85 destinations to 38 ,andthey just took delivery of their dreamairliner nd more are still been expected.google it up my guy u will see tht the number one airline in africa is ethopian airlline.

Look Ethiopia uses Boeing planes, South Africa uses Airbus.. The big differences here is that Airbus makes bigger planes, boeing has better engines An Airbus 340 carries more than 300 people compared to a Dreamliner that carries between 210-290 people

Wrong!! Italy defeated Ethiopia in 1935 as part of the run up to WW2 and occupied the country till it was chased out 6yrs later. That's not colonization sir. Or else would you say Germany colonised France just because Hitler occupied that most exotic country for 4yrs?!?

That's very good. Nigeria should learn from Ethiopia. While Ethiopia airlines is rapidly expanding, Nigerian airways left her passengers stranded in England and then suddenly stopped operation until further notice. Nigeria we hail!

Nigeria is a by-word for failure. Nigeria cannot learn from Ethiopia because Nigerian leaders prefer stolen money to money made from legitimate work.

I like Ethiopian cargo Airline. The only problem i have with them is recent time is the delay they cause to some cargoes coming in from china and or USA. I still find it hard to comprehend reasons for long transit, some time a week or more before bringing in cargoes to Lagos.. I think they have to find solution to this... This is becoming too much to bear. customers puts all delay questions to freight agent...They should rescue us from frequent embarrassment. we continue to loose customers because of delay caused by their Airline....In fact i don't know,,,Very Frustrating
