It is fast becoming an everyday norm to see uniformed men engage in the uncivilised brutality of innocent citizens of the country for no reason whatsoever. While police are helping armed robbers by exchanging weapons for money, the Army officers on the other hand are busy fighting every helpless Civilian that comes their way.

This is barbaric in this stage of democracy and civilisation.

The security agents that are supposed to be custodians of the law and protect the lives and property of the citizens are dancing in the opposite direction. Yesterday I truck driver was brutalize by the security details of Maj. Gen Keneth Minimah.

The government should not sleep over the security of lives and property of its citizens, as this will count positively or negatively to the rating of the country in the international community.

The truth is that our soldiers have become an urban nuisance, a group of wild and mad dogs whose bosses can no longer control them. They have become private contractors who are employed to collect debts, escort transporters of contraband goods, protect prostitutes and take revenge on enemies. When they are not in terror mode, they run private businesses even though they are on the state's payroll.

The Nigerian state is partly to blame for this. They rig recruiting just like elections, qualified and sane applicants are not recruited, “na who know man them go collect”. For most of them, joining the military is just to bully fellow citizens.

As far as I know, none of these people take showers with their guns and uniforms on. That being the case, the prudent man would remember that he is only wearing a uniform which he gets to take-off at the close of work.

Who do we run to if the uniform men are now the ones to be afraid of?
