NSCDC recruits foreign language-speaking personnel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Thursday said the corps recruited personnel with foreign language skills to enhance national security.

Mr Emmanuel Okeh, the Public Relations Officer of the corps, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

Okeh explained that the recruitment was a cardinal policy of the NSCDC.

He explained that the corps had already employing personnel with French, Spanish and German language skills.

“As a matter of fact, in our various academies in Abuja, Abeokuta and Katsina, the organisation always ensures that people with these various foreign language skills are being recruited into the service.

“Having individuals who understand the languages of other countries is important to the success of our operations in security, defence and intelligence gathering.

“So, one cannot overemphasise the centrality of foreign language skills to the core mission of the corps,” he said.

The spokesman said that NSCDC has a pool of foreign language speaking personnel who are being deployed from time to time for various assignments as the need arises.

“We use some for translation purposes during our international security programmes, conferences and workshops for the purpose of participants from other countries not vast in English language.

“Others are used to gather, process and transmit useful information that border on security of lives and properties, especially in parts of the country where people from other nations like Chad, Niger, Republic of Benin and Cameroun reside,” he said.

He, therefore, advised other security agencies to emulate the corps in ensuring that more personnel with foreign language skills were being recruited into their service.

“This will go a long way in helping security agencies interdict drug trafficking, monitor terrorist activities and conduct joint military operations,” he said.

I saw it too on newswatch paper of 24/July/2015. The victims of 2014 stampede are yet to be issued their Appointment Letters, the families of the dead ones who were issued Appointment Letters during Jonathan's Administration are still at home and aren't even included in the ongoing Induction. Probably after the Induction which I think would end by August, 2015. Summarily, I look forward to SEPTEMBER, but never say never cause miracle could still happen before this coming Friday. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE.......... NSCDC, FFS.........85% Loading

they are still waiting for the appointment of the minister, without a substantive minister nothing will happen in the ministry of interior.
Let's hope and pray that the president appoints his minister on or before September he promised.

The said recruitment of foreign language personnel was a coax to fix what they did as Moro and the top stake holders in the nscdc used that to flush in their people and backdated their appointment to feb 26. Some people collected last month before the then CG left office. If u're not involved, then u're left outta the detail. For NSCDC hopeful, keep the faith alive for their's light at the end of the tunnel for replacement/recruitment when the Ministers get appointed as the interior man will be in charge of signature appendix. I just smiled at those that said nothing happened. One love.

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde, has turned in his resignation letter to President Muhammad Buhari indicating he wishes to leave the job on August 18, according to sources in the presidency. Mr. Dikko has two years to the expiration of his tenure, and it is unclear why he has decided to go in one week’s time. Our sources however note that several Customs leaders are currently being investigated for corruption and some may be fired or arrested. President Buhari is reportedly looking to fill Dikko’sposition with a Customs officer from the South- South. It is understood that President Buhari had earlier turned down the resignation letter, asking Mr. Dikko to give him time to study the Customs and its operations, but that he has now accepted the resignation. SaharaReporters learnt that the President, whose tenure has seen officials of several government agencies turning in similar resignation letters, has resisted such attempts. Our sources say Buhari prefers to watch and then fire them the way he did with former NSA Sambo Dasuki and military Service chiefs recently. It would be recalled that in 2009, one Olajide Oyewoleaccused Alhaji Inde Dikko of having forged his academic credentials with his help. In a video testimony obtained by SaharaReporters, Oyewole said the Customs boss illegally obtained Certificates No 10912 and 10993) belonging to the Nigerian Institute of Management, and also forged the West African Examinations Council Certificate No. NGSG 37836, documents that enabled him to eventually become Comptroller-General of Customs.
