On Imo Public Service, Our government shall maintain Strict observance of Public Service rules and regulations.

Under my watch, prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities arrears of workers and retired Public Servants shall not be considered an achievement but a necessary thing to do.

We shall Re-introduce meritocracy in appointments and promotions in a transparent and accountable manner and fast-track take-off of the contributory pension scheme for Public Servants.

In addition, Our government shall pursue Full computerization of Imo Public Service, pursue reforms of the Criminal/Civil Administration of justice system for quicker dispensation of justice, and also restore a functional and democratic system in Local Government administration in the State.

The way some of you talk sometimes is quite disgusting. Will you tell a private investor how to invest their money? If the investors choose to build hotels because it's more lucrative or convenient for them, will you stop them?? Come to think of it, how many industries have you built yourself in Imo state?? An industrialist will prefer to build a factory in Aba or Onitsha because of economies of scale. No good businessman will invest based on sentiment because they all want to maximize profits. Areas such as oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical plant, drugs, ICT etc are where investors can still in Owerri and get good ROI. However, instead of blaming those who are building hotels in Owerri, you should rather channel your anger towards those who choose to build outside Imo state. Someone like captain Iheanacho went to build his refinery in Lagos yet he wanted to rule Imo state. This is where Rochas is better than all of them, he invested heavily in Owerri and Imo state and it is only someone who loves his state will do that. You may say it is looted money but others all looted as well yet they either took their investment to Abuja and Lagos, took them abroad or simply stored them in hard currency. When you loot and take your investment outside the state (which his predecessors all did), Imo looses twice, but when you invest it back in Imo state, the state only loose once and gain back through IGR, bigger economy, employment provision and other multiplier effects.
Finally, how many industries are there in Abuja? Are they up to a quarter of industries in places like Aba and Onitsha but are the IGR of Aba and Onitsha in anyway comparable to that of Abuja?? My point is that it is not only mortar and brick factories that can make a city prosperous. Does Imo need factories? YES! Are the hotels being built good for the economy of the city? YES!!

Why wouldn't investors invest only in Owerri,, as Okorocha govt builds only in Owerri: builds a new Imo Specialist Hospital in Owerri after suffocating the state's university teaching hospital in Orlu, builds Owerri boulevards but scraps roads in Orlu, uses Imo state government funds to build Police and Prison Headquarters in Owerri, builds bye pass roads in Owerri after demolishing inner Owerri and built ten lanes, (wonder what Okorocha's many Owerri bye pass roads are meant for as he also made inner streets of Owerri become ten lanes).
In Orlu, Okorocha scrapped roads, flood from small rain carry buildings as Okorocha and Uche Nwosu refused to complete Orlu drainage gutter.

Nothing other than malice and deep seated grudge against Orlu influenced Okorocha choice to lavish the funds of IMSG on Owerri, and which makes for investors choice for Owerri.

Don't think you are sophisticated in thought and teaching of investors choice of Owerri.

Ihedioha2019, u don't have to mess this thread up to promote your candidate. This thread is no home for mad men.

It's just because of the Nigerian factor that someone will have the guts to campaign for brazenly corrupt Imo PDP, the worst state chapter of the PDP in south east. The same people who kept the state in bondage for 12 years. If they had done what they were supposed to do, Imo would have been better today. Nonsense!

I agree with you, that it cannot be completed overnight but it can be done in a reasonable time frame and with standard quality and specifications, you will agree with me also that the contracts when they were awarded, included the sidewalks because I believe if it was not they will not construct it. I hate making excuses for mediocrity and I want you to call a spade a spade I don't see the reason why finishing touches needed to complete all these projects before handing it over should be done later. Why would a contractor handover projects without doing the needful? I give you an example, how many years now did the road in the picture below was constructed and handed over to the government? This manholes are dead traps why will it be so why build it at all if it cannot be done well?

You still miss the point. Okorocha doesn't award contracts like typical Nigerian politicians where they inflate cost in the name of handover and commissioning. Each of these roads are in phases like I wrote earlier and after one phase comes the next. Gradually they will all be completed either now or in near future if things go according to plan.

Thank you for enlightening the ignorant ones but majority of those who make the hotel comments do it out of envy or fault finding. Imo State IGR is on geometric rise and if the pace is sustained in 2 years time might surpass that of Enugu which is presently the highest in Southeast.

Seems the erstwhile Douglas city centre mall have been converted to Imo specialist hospital.

Credit rytegate.

Owerri wants every thing in Imo state, including IMSUTH, still asks for zoning of governorship position.

To still diminish the growth of Imo state University teaching hospital (IMSUTH) Orlu, Okorocha may have further been ill-advised to name the Shopping Mall at Eke Owerri for another Imo specialist hospital, Owerri, Those who have undermined Okorocha's political career are still not stopping. They earlier advised Okorocha to build them first a befitting state capital to look like Dubai of Africa, another governor shall look into development of Orlu and Okigwe in future. Okorocha agreed to the fraudulent advise.
Rest of Imo state got infuriated after years of Imo state becoming Owerri state. They decided to end with Okorocha and anybody connected to Okorocha.
Okorocha must not let the billions of Naira spent on IMSUTH be wasted, because of the desire of a most lazy and greedy people who want everything in Imo state to be at their door steps.
With FMC and other General hospitals built and equipped in and around Owerri, IMSG MUST NOT WASTE PUBLIC FUNDS EQUIPPING ANOTHER SPECIALIST HOSPITAL IN OWERRI, WHILE IMSUTH ORLU REMAINS ILL-EQUIPPED, UNCOMPLETED

I don't agree with this, Sir.

When you say road construction are in phases, do you mean he'll award for the road first, then award for walkway, then award for streetlight, then award for planting trees along the road, then award for drainage system?

How does that sound to you, Sir. Or better still explain what you meant by that statement.

Not all the new roads and why are they still constructing open drainage, why plastic palm tree when we are in a tropical rainforest climate zones. The money they are using in constructing the ugly metal arches can buy 2000 pine trees.

When Afam4eva and asha10 came here to open up, you branded them as Chino.

You hate the truth so much that you can even call your poor old mother Chino if she start telling you the bitter truth.

Chino doesn't know that useless Imo state is existing except when you cross the 'line'. Focus on your propaganda here and stop calling Chino everytime someone opens up.

Below was the post that earned Afam4eva the title of Chino. I spit on you abagworo.

Wetheral Road has always been a fine road

The only difference now is that it has been expanded

What will impress people is a fully completed Douglas Road with a median, streetlight and flowers. Yes, that's how Fashola transformed many places in Lagos, including the criminals' den, 0shodi.

The before and after pictures of Douglas Road will be captivating

Abagworo, while the school bag distribution is commendable, the gathering of this crowd is completely unnecessary.

The IMSG should have simply shipped the bags to their various schools for onward distribution. Perhaps this is one of the reasons they call Rochas a showman. grin However, this gesture is commendable.

That said, you have done so much to redeem Rochas' reputation on nairaland. If not for your active participation on this forum, a lot of us would believe that Rochas has done nothing in 8 years. Well, I just hope u are getting some form of rewards for your effort.

As his administration slides into its twilight, I hope his successor will have someone who will be as active as you are to keep bringing us development in our state as it happens. Beyond criticism, Abagworo has done an amazing job on this thread. I appreciate u.
