These roads are some of the roads Rochas constructed as governor

Few months away, they are now in a terrible state

Sincerely, I don't think that Imo people who said that Rochas was doing a 'China road' did that out of hate

His road quality was some of the worst in the country. I just hope that his successor does not follow in his footsteps

None of Okorocha's road really went bad on their own. So this your statement is wrong. Most of these roads were built by his predecessors and he was maintaining them annually which is why they remained motorable till he left. Okorocha didn't build Poly Nekede road and it has been in a bad state for more than 30 years with yearly rehabilitations amidst several claims of contract litigations. Ihedioha came and flagged off work just 2 months before he was ousted and the ongoing work stopped. Let's see if Uzodinma will complete the road

do you take into cognisance, our IGR and other stuffs like allocation and cash to execute these projects?

Yeah, I did brother. Some parts of the road are already tarred, might just require a little expansion. So, it's not as if it's ALL the roads will be started from scratch.

For those parts that will fall under federal roads, the state can always collect the money spent back from the federal government, same way other states are doing.

I'm sorry I have to use Lagos state as an example now. Lagos built the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge as a PPP and collect tolls on it. People love to use the bridge even with the toll because it is less stressful and it cuts your journey by half.

If we have such roads, we can toll it over a period of time and collect make the money back. Even if it takes years, but I'm sure people will prefer paying toll on a smooth neat expressway that gets you to your destination in time and in sound health, than a toll-free expressway that is bad and makes you get to your destination with aches all over your body.

Building a standard through the 27 local governments will open up other areas aside Owerri

Side note: It would really be nice if our present Government can start a campaign against open drainage and hashtag all such operations #NoToOpenDrainage...

Which would have made more economic sense, maintaining them annually for the 8years he stayed there or awarding them to a reputable company to construct just once?

Please don't share it here, information here that is not safe.

You are right though, the north and the east are both landlocked, but the west is offering them a better of offer. Tinubu has aligned with the North already,

As a matter of fact the north doesn't need the east anymore, they would soon complete the railway from Lagos to Kano. Some sections have been completed.

So I actually believe it's tougher to align with the North, or would I say too ambitious.

The best bet is to align with SS. Afterall we have a long history together. If IPOB can stop abusing SW calling them slaves and also stop abusing SS calling them Saboteurs , it would be easier.

To help with IPOB and Kanu. They can keep talking like mad men. Let us just disassociate ourselves from them

You maintain until it is reconstructed. Even newly built roads also need yearly maintenance or they go extremely bad.

What happened to all the useless structures your boss scattered across the 27 LGAs in Imo State in the name of world-class hospitals?

They started with Katsina and now to Imo. Why is the NNPC taking up the task of building hospitals across the country?

What are the responsibilities of the federal ministry works or health? Those should be more concerned about building hospitals.

Why is the NNPC not more worried that we import virtually all the PMS and other petroleum products we consume in the country?

NNPC should use the money to fix our moribund refineries or build modular refineries. Pretty soon, the entire country will depend on Dangote refinery and the monopoly continues.

If this country cannot fix its oil and gas industry, which is her biggest revenue earner, then Nigeria doesn't deserve to be called a country.

At the end of the day what Atiku suggested is the best move.. Privatize NNPC, the government is not even handling it well at all. How else can they explain Kaduna refinery making a loss of 64 billion in a year, or fruitkeless oil exploration in the Northern Nigeria worth about 3 billion dollars.

If it is in private hands, it would be driven by profit, therefore they would rather repair the refineries or build new ones close to the oil wells or else it won't be profitable enough for the owners.

From what we heard, Rochas constructed those roads or are you telling us he was just patching them every year for 8 years?

A well constructed road doesn't need to be "maintained" by tarring every year. If such happens, that means the construction company did a bad job in the first place.

The truth is, if Hope Uzodinma is still constructing road all over Owerri after all the roads Rochas constructed, then let's agree to disagree that the construction companies that did the job for Rochas did a very bad job.

As for those currently rooting for Uzodinma, hope you won't also come back years later to tell us all these roads we are seeing are just "maintenance" and not road construction

y.

I don't really have anything to say about NNPC, but as for the hospitals, I won't call them useless.

They are "GENERAL HOSPITALS", situated in the 27 local governments. They are supposed to treat minor cases while major cases will be taken to specialist hospitals or IMSUTH.

Rochas started a good thing, what happens to Hope completing the work. Imo on a normal day does not even have much hospitals, so why can't the present government catch in on this.

One hospital should be able to employ atleast 30 health personnels, multiply that by 27, add the number of IMSUTH medical students that'll be posted to each of them for their practical studies or whatever they call it.

Government is a continuum, Rochas started a good thing constructing the general hospitals, let Uzodinma finish the good work. (E go pain us if him begin build him own hospital again)

My friend be cultured. You don't know me at all to warrant this unnecessary insult. Okorocha isn't much wealthier than I am so he cannot be my boss even in the next world. I respect him as my former Governor and appreciate the fact that he had a dream which I understood including those 27 Hospitals you call useless. I am very much aware that some were functional whereas others have chances of being activated if we understand continuity as development.

Sincerely, I have seen comfortable people run away from this country because of Nigerians' mindsets. It beats my imagination how things that work in other countries fail in Nigeria.

Personally, I would not recommend outright privatization of these key revenue-generating corporations.

The best bet is to make it a public-private partnership with a leading, reputable IOC. For instance, NNPC Retail, a subsidiary of the NNPC, is a PPP. Today, it's working relatively well. The same goes for NLNG.

Notice that every state is entitled to one major mega filling station, which is based on PPP. From time to time, their books and operations are audited to ensure that the parties work according to the MOU.

The truth is, I don't even trust the so-called private sector. In the past, Nigeria has privatized its key revenue-generating agencies, including the Nigerian Airways. Today, they have closed shop.

You call those bunch of structures hospitals?

Take it or leave it, Rochas knows zilch about leadership. He lacks planning and administrative skills. The fact is, he's just one loquacious clown.

He just wakes up and starts executing projects without carrying out a proper feasibility study.

You are more interested in the number of staffers they will employ, but you didn't consider if they are viable in the first place - given that they are sited in rural communities.

Can people who live in those communities afford their services?

Can the funds they generate be enough to maintain those huge structures, pay bills and pay staff salaries?

These are questions I am certain Rochas could not answer before embarking on the wild goose chase.

Notice that cottage hospitals are often built for rural communities while general hospitals are sited in the heart of town for a reason.

@Abagworo, first of fall, I didn't insult you. You should read what I wrote earlier. This time, do it slowly. Second of all, Rochas is your boss!

It would have been better if Rochas did only a couple of standard roads that would last instead of wasting Imo state resources.

I feel sad each time I go to the former old market to fix my car. The so called hospital has been overgrown with weeds and structure now harbours miscreants who hide inside it to smoke weed. The same thing is happening at the former old market where another so called hospital is rotting away and to think that these things cost billions of naira can make one want to go crazy.

It's not about the size, they can employ nurses and some junior doctors in each of the hospitals. The major services should be treating emergencies before refering to the main hospital. Also things like maternity services, family planning should be provided.

Guy I don't know where that governor is getting funds .. over the past few years.
Numerous concrete roads,
4 flyovers,
international market,
Mall,
ecumenical center,
manufacturing of electric cars (tricycles for now) ,
now he has started airport ,
and I read somewhere that he said he must build a stadium and teaching hospital before he completes his tenure

I now wonder, where is he getting allocation, I thought Ebonyi is around the lowest three states in state allocation..
