The unending crises between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in central Nigeria may soon witness another round of explosion if news of an impending 'full scale' war between fulanis and Tiv in parts of Doma LGA, Nassarawa state, turns out to be true.

Eyewitness account has it that during the last round of crises early this year between the two groups, in which the Tivs suffered heavy casualty, surviving Tiv villages deserted their homes and farms, only for the fulanis to settle on them with their herds of cattle; looting, destroying and grazing at will.

Several meetings initiated by the Benue and Nassarawa state governors have so far yielded no fruitful results as fulanis continue to migrate to the crisis areas with thousands of animals.

The latest rumours of war are coming on the heels of suspected moves by the fulanis to convert abandoned Tiv villages into their permanent homes. To confirm that suspicion, some fulanis erected tenets on the ruins of the more than 200 years old Tiv village called 'Ajimaka' before some angry Tiv youths destroyed them. It will be recalled that early this year more than 100 hundred fleeing Tiv women and children were massacred by armed fulani militia and their mercenaries near this same Ajimaka village. Some Tiv youths had to plead to the Soldiers who were then stationed in the nearby Rukubi town before they provided security for the burial of the victims in shallow mass-graves.

One hopes the federal govt intervenes before we witness yet again another round of needless bloodletting.

Haba BlackPikin, no kill us all, but let the culprits be broguht to book, and let the Federal Government takes drastic actions against lawless groups of people to find final resolution to this Farmers/nomads dichotomy. Tivs and Fulanis are cousins though, but i wander how comes they never come into agreement, at least they should go back to the drawing table to iron the unachieved agreement when they departed in history (Late Akiga's book on the relationship between the Tiv and the Fulani can be a starting point). Abeg, no kill them all, but let us give the Federal Govt fault for not drafting a final peace resolution in the country.
