Dang! I have no idea. It sounds like a children's book though
Re: Guess The Author Or The Book by dominique(f): 10:41am On Oct 02, 2012
@Tpia
could it be The Borrowers by Mary Norton. You didn't give any clues about the author, Not fair.

tpia@:
nobody will ever guess this:

subject matter is about little people like lilliputians

main character is a girl, living with her family

in the two books i've read in the series, she consistently breaks a cardinal rule which inevitably means the family has to move

in this particular book, they escape via balloon

The borrowers!!!
Re: Guess The Author Or The Book by tpia5: 9:23pm On Oct 02, 2012
Wow, i'm surprised.

Thought i could keep this series to myself for those rainy days when i need some me time.

Smart folks roam these here parts, mi dear. Smart folks, I tells ya. Lemme try one since we've proven to be resourceful:

I heard the author wrote this book while he was sick in the hospital.
The book was made into a movie
The author is bespectacled
He writes a lot about Maine, which I suspect is his hometown but I'm not sure.

Guess the book AND the author.
Re: Guess The Author Or The Book by dominique(f): 1:13pm On Oct 03, 2012
^^^ Has to be Stephen King.
About the book, no idea. I'm not a fan of his books.

Re: Guess The Author Or The Book by Amari(f): 5:43pm On Oct 04, 2012
Ok,guess and try this one; the book was written in rotten english;
the author albeit late was a renowned human right activist of the ogoni people;
the book was set in a war era.

vescucci: ^^^ You ehn. How can you not be a fan of his books? Which ones have you read?

i've read a couple though i cant remember the titles cos i didnt enjoy them. One was about polluted water that was making the people in the small town act funny. The other was a collection of short stories which i didn't bother to complete (help me out with the titles if you know them). The author is thoroughly overrated imo.

tipa@
J.R.R Tolkien. Authour of Lord or the rings. Abeg make us rack our brains a bit naa.

I think he's over rated too. From a 9/10 to 10/10, lol. He writes too much, I think. He doesn't wanna calm the eff down and put something really mindblowing together. That's why he doesn't have any books that really stand out like most authors do. He's over rated cuz his books end up as movies.

Lemme try one:

- This was the third book where the main character features
- The name of the book's main character is the name of a real life person
- The writer makes everything in his books happen within 24 hours

What's the name of the book and author?

Well, it's not so easy if one does not use google. Only God knows more stuff than google.

Is that guy still writing? I've outgrown his writings a long time ago but I'm curious now
Re: Guess The Author Or The Book by dominique(f): 2:10pm On Oct 06, 2012
@vescucci
dean koontz's books were at their best in the 80s and90s (phantoms, dragon tears, watchers etc). The Books he writes these days are not as compelling. The one i read last (The Face) was total hogwash

Santino1: This is simple na

Dean Ray Koontz

darn! I wanted to set a dean koontz riddle.
Lets see if you guys can get this one. Una go google tire cheesy
this author lived between 19th and 20th century in England.
has once been accused of plagiarism
his/her most popular novel was about 3 kids and their mother coming to terms with poverty (set in early 20th century England).
Re: Guess The Author Or The Book by vescucci(m): 3:17pm On Oct 06, 2012
Sounds like Charles Dickens. This is up his alley, but he's too talented to be accused of plagiarism. Well, being accused doesn't make him guilty. My guess is Charles Dickens. But then his most popular book is Oliver Twist, I think. Oh snap. I'll think harder
