This here be my take on the issue...for full evolvement (sic)and realization,there has to be a mixture of both categories. The question is in knowing how much time of your life you devote to either of the options.
What makes you see life for what it is is in relating with your environment; that encompasses other people,situations and the like. Living a shielded and illusory life is not the key to full development ,neither is living life on the fast lane and riding it (life) till the wheels fall off. The key is in modesty...the fine line separating evolvement (sic) from pure disaster must be known and threaded with care. A life of the first category (so called real people) would be very drab and unfulfilling (to me anyways) while that solely of the second category (so called fake people) would be calamitous to say the least.
So,IMO,seek the balance..know when to let go,know when to stop,look,and know the direction in which the wind now blows...a lot could be said on this but suffice it to say that I'd hold my peace here.
