What Poverty?
This is pure greed.

Where would they have stored the commodity if they had succeeded?

Man, this is awful. Only God knows if some families did not take all the people along.

May those they left behind find it easy to bear the lost.
Re: Twenty Die In Abia Scooping Fuel From Fallen Tanker by chucky234(m): 10:33am On Nov 05, 2012
slap1: I lost a friend the same day, in similar circumstance. The fuel tanker he was driving had an accident in Calabar, around 6.am. The tanker ran into the bush in flames. Nonso died. His wife has a 3 weeks old girl, the first child. . .
RIP.
Oh that's a colossal loss,my condolence to the family and I pray God gives them the fortitude to bear the loss,be strong bro.

Hunger and hardship have obviously denied some people of their thinking faculty, its a pity.
Re: Twenty Die In Abia Scooping Fuel From Fallen Tanker by bbfever(f): 10:41am On Nov 05, 2012
Did nobody read about the terrible road conditions being the cause of all these deaths? if the roads were good would the tanker get stuck and then request for the services of a tow truck? Also would the other bus have sparked the fire? Nigerian authorities need to be proactive and stop blaming their deliberately impoverished citizens.

I want to bet anybody that even after such magnitude of deaths on that road absolutely nothing would still be done to fix that road to forestall a future re-occurence.

I WEEP FOR THIS NATION.

I feel sorry for the lost souls, but let's do a little maths together:
1Litre = #200@ black market.
You are lucky and you scoop 200Litres
=200 x #200 = #40,000.00
God forbid, so this is the reason why people rush to scoop fuel and loose their lives?
A rethink is necessary. undecided

Re: Twenty Die In Abia Scooping Fuel From Fallen Tanker by Abagworo(m): 3:58pm On Nov 05, 2012
Nigerians are unbelievable. Each of these tanker fires occur exactly the same way. The tanker driver will try as much to warn the villagers and they'll keep mum. The elders and Chiefs will scream and they won't listen. I don't even know if death from these infernos should be mourned.

On the other hand, each State government should establish a task force to cordon off any area of reported tanker accident. The task force should include armed Policemen for villagers to listen to them..
