A while back got invited for an interview, I had applied for a particular language skill profeciency, when called upon the interviewer asked me where I was from, he now asked me to tell him about myself in my Dialect (unfortunately I'm not fluent in it), just smiled all through, I however, got the Job.

i think you lost that job cos you were not cool, calm and convincing. Probably shaking and swearing by the bible that you're born again and that you regularly speak in tongues. Shows you'll loose it if you face really challenging times.
I was shocked and cool. Even his colleagues was surprised when he said that. He probably was pissed up before he entered the room and I think it was more of God's will cos the bank was in crise not long after that.

what a crappy recruitment method! undecided

the HR peeps must have lots of spare time on their hands.

Yea they do have time and lots of money to go along. Was once invited for an interview @ their Ikoyi office and it was a lady who interviewed me(won't mention the name).the koko be say  was informed about 2wks after that  didn'meet the qualification.

 noticed the staff generally size you up from the front-desk officers to secretaries and the interviewer. just felt their prying eyes beneath their smiles.

Pls i dont understand what u mean by using a cover letter, i'l appreciate if u explain. Thanks.

1. During my interview 4 d post of Customer Care officer @ my CURRENT COMPANY (yeah, i got d job), i was asked why i didnt wear a jacket and tie 2 d interview (my bad). Lied dat they were @ d drycleaners! Frm den on, interview changed direction. 90% of d remaining interview focused on my dressing habbits! (d naughty hr woman was wearing jeans and t shirt, flaunting a big tatoo and VERY pregnant). Got a success sms 3 mnths later.

2. 12days ago, after spending 18mnths with dem, a more attractive job came in form of an IJP (Internal Job Posting). Only 12 of us (top performers in d erstwhile job) were shortlisted. We were delayed for more dan 8 hrs. Now dat i got d job, during training, i found out dat time wasting was a strategy (as well as placing d interview on a SUNDAY!!!).

Folks, pls more responses. I luv dis thread!!!!

victorD3: 1) My first interview was rather funny because immediately I noticed I was the only black dude amongst 30 whites I automatically knew I will be among the 12 candidates needed and so it happened.

2) My next interview was in Nigeria and the executive chairman was sleeping towards the final interview and the other 10 members of the panel had to allow him sleep wella before we continued. He was very important at that stage because he was the one to negotiate the salary as the owner of the company. I was to manage the Owerri branch of his company and he asked why I want to work at Owerri and answered " I heard owerri girls are very pretty". I got the job.

3) Another interview was for a state government in the south south region of Nigeria. It was a panel of 20 panelist. When we made our way to the hall and everybody were checking their names on the board since I came rather late I walked in and underlined my name. Other candidates on seeing my name and the foreign degrees attached in bracket started trembling obviously. Infact one of the chickens openly told me that he is wasting his time. On getting to the panel it was structured in the way that everybody for a particular position will face the panel at once. Whenever it was my turn to answer any question I was been addressed as London boy which automatically gave me an edge. We where 5 for that role but I got the Job cheesy

4) Another was with Nigerian Bottling Company as a procurement officer south west were I passed all the online test and oral interviews. On the final day to cross check my credentials the procurement manager who I was to work under told me he can't work with me but prefers the guy that came second because he feels he will do well with the guy. I told him that I am ready to build on the existing platform which he refused. He gave me 60k from his own personal cash which I rejected and left. A girl at the HR that was always calling to inform me of the good news felt so bad and latter told me that its because of their thief thief in procurement that they proffered a less educated and western fellow. They later called me for a lesser position but I refused.

5) I have another interview on 13th Nov in Abuja so wish me luck cheesy

Iykebestbt: A friend of mine narrate to me how he went about his own interview...it all started as a 10 man pursuit but only a slot was needed...they sat for exam which 8 persons did great...they sat. For the second exam and the number was reduced to 5....after an oral interview,5 of them were still head to head...so they invited them early morning the next day....while they were waiting for another exam or interview, the HR asked them "WITHOUT LOOKING AT UR WRIST WATCH, WAT IS THE NAME OF THE WATCH U ARE PUTTING ON?...everybody's eyes goes clocking!....only a guy got it write

He didn't make it....
mine was almost like that; except that when Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ HOUR came in after waiting for him for over four hours, he then asked "who wants to drink tea" only one girl out of Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ eight of us said she wanted, Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ HR told her she got Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ job and asked her to leave. Although I was called for Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ next stage to see Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ MD, but I did not get Τ̲̅ђε̲̣ job. This happened in June this year in a manufacturing firm at Ikeja.

The positions were for accounts, Engineers, biochemists Geologists, etc . Passed through three stages and d last stage was unbelievable and unexpected . One day i got a 750 naira recharge card number from an unknown number , i thought it was wrongly sent to me so i forward d number back to d sender and still called d number to know if it was a mistake or not d, person thanked me for being honest . A month later, d company called me , i thought it was for another stage of d interview, 16,819 people applied for the job but as at d 3rd stage we were down to 209 and d final stage unknown to us was d sending of recharge card number to test our sincerity and only 13 of us called or sent back the number . 13 of us got the job

They saw it in ma face that I don't do such but i told them oha, that, I do "quicky" with cool babes but no more ashy. Gave them series of experiences with ashi in the past, thou I cooked it up. They laugh me to scorn and I got the job. Ironically, these guys no dey bleep ashi. I think they only wanted to know how truthful i am.....

Justosaus: first the interview started by 11pm and ended by 1.30am. The MD was dosing all the time and it got to a point that he got up and lay down on his examination couch to sleep (he's a medical doctor). After about 15mins i got up to leave but d sound of the door woke him up and he continued the interview exactly where we stopped(bargaining the salary)! I ended up sleeping in one of his empty patient rooms and left for home the next morning. Got the job, by the way...
This one really got me laughing lol...one would wonder if the interviewer was serious. Congrats!

Nice thread...

I will share my experience...

I was invited to Aiico for the first time in my life, and there i was with my friend, and some other people, the man asked a question to the first person, if you were told that you have just had HIV and you are still in the window stage, what would you have done if you realized the person you had sex with was Aan HIV patient, and to my surprise, the guy gave long stories...

The next question was given to the other guy where he was asked to differentiate between a blue/white collar job, you need to hear what a graduate said..

I was called for access bank interview after the man who claimed to have worked with aiico had his belt like those in the pyscho home, and we were so much, well, only 7 of us were called, i was called in for the first stage with a two panel interview, and wowed them, then i was called for the second stage and there it was, i made the interviewer cry when she asked me what my values were, (i can lie sha), but i just thought i could do pretty well at the interview, anyway, she gave me the job and i wasn't told to move to the third stage, you need to see me forming paparazzi for them, they would call me and ask if i was still interested, but i left.

Then GLO...UMM...Have you ever met sango wawa, that man is fresh, i handed my CV to him, and when i left his office, 2mins i was called in for the interview, anyway, i was shocked, i went home that day and to God be the glory went to borrow suit as usual, and i started my journey from ogun state to VI, when i got to CMS, rain started well and ended well on me, and there i was, they look at your attire, your confidence, and for the ladies, please find brazilian hair to borrow, this is no joke, they look at this, i was not given the job when i was shivering my ass out, i couldn't talk, my friend who was also there was not given the job, she didn't make her hair, that was their reason, you need to see the ladies asking questions, the company will run down if those kind of people continue there.

Then Sahara, well, people won't believe it, we were asked to look for white nokia 3310, you need to see people rushing to village to buy phone na, the next stage, we were asked to dress in a traditional attire and discuss on what we have worn, third stage, we were asked to dance azonto, at stage four, people didn't show up anymore, because they thought it was a joke, then they asked to tell if they had ever cheated before in their relationship, i mean they would let you wait till late that night, well, after so many insult and useless ideas these so called hr think they have, the job was given to some few persons.

And my last one, umm, there are plenty sha, but me i won't say the name of the company...so easy, and the pay is about 320,000k, yes oo, in naija, if you like believe it or not. I met the man at the plane, and we just talked, he was asking general questions and there he was just finding out my views to somethings, as plane land, he said i didn't realize i was on the plane, for stealing my attention, here is my card, i was like who are these gay people again, i didn't call the man with my shakara sef, but with my big head, i took my phone and called the man, he told me he was flying back to lagos and if i would love to accompany him, after all na woman i come find, as i through with the woman, i enter plane oo,..no jokes, and again as a big mouthed person my father taught me, i stole his attention, i didn't know i was talking to the ceo of the company and he invited me over, asked me to come see him at sheraton, o boy, which kind man i meet na, and he was with his PA, and some other white people like this, and me wey be sey e don tey wey i be wan talk my mind to these white people, i was shocked, they just gave me a contract to fill, and there it was, the job, a PERMANENT KID WORKING WITH SO SO SO...It will be well sha, someday i would love to do this for someone as well, if you can steal my attention, then you have a job...

For your first interview, you were taken on board for equal opportunity reasons.
For the the fourth interview, its so obvious the hiring manager knew who he wanted before the vacancy or just after the vacancy, its a case of man know man, very common in multinationals too. Knew someone who lost a chevron job as well. His case was similar to your NBC case.

Bro.. From my own view of those questions, If a 1000years is 1 day to God, Then i think God doesn't work with days, a million years will still be one day to him.

For that efficiency question, efficiency is not a ratio.. Efficiency is a percentage.

I stand to be corrected.
