Waec Penalizes Students Involved In Exam Malpractice by Koolyarns: 11:32am On Nov 16, 2012
The west African examinations council WAEC has sanctioned students involved in examination malpractice. According to the National President, All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Hajiya Fatima Abdulrahman, said 101,398 candidates out of the total number of 1,695,872 candidates who sat for the May/June 2012 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in Nigeria were considered to have been involved in malpractice.

“The committee has approved that appropriate sanctions as prescribed by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the examination be applied.

“The committee has approved that the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attract cancellation of entire results be cancelled, while results, in proven cases, which attract cancellation of subject results be similarly cancelled. In addition, some candidates will also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the council’s examinations for certain number of years,” she said.

She further stated that the names of the schools and candidates involved in Malpractice would be available on the WAEC website in two weeks time.
