1. Set up a Propaganda Network like the Biafra Propaganda Module.
2. Hire a world class liar like Achebe, tell him to prove to the people that you are the messiah and you are their saviour. You can also professed to them that you will die for them on the cross like Jesus.
3. Make sure you employ several underage soldiers like Oju-iku did during the war. You know election in ibo land is a hoax. You need to guide your votes or better still snatch ballot boxes. You can buy the type of guns oju-iku used to prosecute the war. I mean the ABA MADE HUNTER GUNS. This is for the protection of the ballot box snatchers.
4. Please don't try to do this in Lagos, you know Yoruba people are not GULLIBLE and will not allow you to lead them to their early grave because of your greediness.
5. Tell them you are a Jew. Ibos like Jews. They are the lost Jews of Africa.
6. Last but not the least, make sure you are a ped.oph.ilesmileysmiley... So that ibos will trust you more like oju-iku did.

afam4eva: I want to throw my hat into the ring and contest for an elective position. I think i can make a change by starting off by contesting for the chairmanship position in my local government, Enugu South LGA. It's not like i'm ready at the moment but i want to plan for the future. I chose to contest to become the LG chairman position because it's the closest government to the people. I want to make my LGA the pride of NIgeria and Africa. Infact, i don't mind being the LGA chairman for the next 50 years if the constitution permits as long as i can make my own little contribution in my local government.

Now, what are the things that i need to know and which party do you think is progressive and encourages young people like myself?

What's the minimum age to be elected in to such a position?

As an LGA chairman, how much power do i wield?

I'm currently working on my economic plan for my local government and i will also like ya'll to contribute and tell me what you think local governments need the most.

Thanks

You also said you were gonna run tracks at the next olympic games.

Just as a reminder on the functions of LGAs with Councillors being part of the legislative arm at that level. Supervisory Councillors are like Ministers/Commissioners.

The local government is the third tier of the administrative structure in Nigeria. There are 774 local government areas (LGAs) in the country. The functions of Local Governments, as spelt out in the Constitution, are as follows:

a. Consideration and making of recommendations to the State commission on economic planning or any similar body on economic development of the State, particularly in so far as the area of authority of the Council and of the State are affected;

b. Collection of rates, and radio and television licenses;

c. Establishment and maintenance of cemeteries, burial grounds and homes for the destitute or infirm;

d. Licensing of bicycles, trucks (other than mechanically propelled trucks), canoes, wheel barrows and carts;

e. Establishment, maintenance and regulation of markets, motor parks and public conveniences;

f. Construction and maintenance of roads, streets, drains and other public highways, parks, open spaces, or such public facilities as may be prescribed from time to time by the House of Assembly of a State;

g. Naming of roads 'and streets and numbering of houses;

h. Provision and maintenance Of public conveniences and refuse disposal;

i. Registration of births, deaths and marriages;

j. Assessment of privately-owned houses or tenements for the purpose of levying such rates as may be prescribed by the House of Assembly of a Stale; and,

k. Control and regulation of:

i. out-door advertising and hoarding,

ii. movement and keeping of pets of all descriptions,

iii. shops and kiosks, .

iv. restaurants and other places for sale of food to the public, and

v. laundries.

The local government councils also workhand- in-hand with State governments on issues such as:

a. the provision and maintenance of primary education;

b. the development of agriculture and natural resources, other than the exploitation of minerals, and

c. the provision and maintenance of health services.

Each local government area is administered by a Local Government Council. The Council comprises & Chairman who is the Chief Executive of the LGA, and other elected members who are referred to as Councillors.

The Chairman is normally elected, but can, under special circumstances, also be appointed. He/she supervises the activities of the local government and presides over all meetings of the Council.

All members are enjoined by law to meet, as far as practicable, the aspirations of the people who elect them. Committees, focusing on specific issues, play very important roles in the day-to-day business of the Counoils. They assist the Councils in decision-making and are usually required to report their discussions to the Councils.

A Local Government Council is the pivot of socio-economic planning and development in its area of authority. Being also the tier of government closest to the people, it is considered a most important facilitator of economic and social development at the grassroots.

From your name Afam I am assuming you are an ibo guy, so my advise is this.

Be ready to kill or be killed.

Be ready to join different kind of societies.

You and your wife cannot share the same bedroom anymore.

You cannot travel out for any extended period as you have to be on ground to be BATHING THE JUJU(ever wondered why most rich men or politicians can't stay outside naija?)Them get to dey pour libetion for the juju.

Be ready to prostitute with all the churches,especially the pentecostal ones.

Be close to all the Agberos and thugs plus hired assasins in your lga.

Recruit or join the strongest confra in your area.

Be ready to be fucking both old and young women seeking contracts in your office(the old ones always dey bleach)

On the lighter side I WISH YOU LUCK.

You can really achieve your dreams of becoming your local govt chairman and beyond. First, you need to have a vision. What will your local government look like when you are done with your term(s) in office? Secondly, you need to be courageous as a leader at that level. Your influence may not be far reaching, but with courage you can go far. Thirdly, you need a political mentor. You need someone with integrity to mentor you from now on before your dream becomes a success. There are still good politicians out there that can contribute positively into your life and vision. Fourthly, join a political party and start contributing to all there meetings. Until we start from here, we will not be able to bring the needed change we need for this country. I am working on something bigger too and hopefully one day we will meet at the big stage. The polity is getting better by the day and money will not count as much soon in this country when contesting for election. Your integrity will surely make you stand out. Put yourself together, dream bigger than what you can see right now and ensure that no one kill your dream. Yes you can make it happen through. God is behind you

@OP, For me, your ambition is not misplaced!
But realize it is like going to a casino, for now that is the reality of Nigerian Politics. You may come home with fabulous winnings and you may come back broke and empty handed. Understand that element of Uncertainty.
See,what will never be, will never be. And what will be, will be, if that is your path in this life, things will work out for your good.
So, friend, keep hope alive.
On a closing note, impact of heavy cash in Nigerian politics is real, Political Godfatherism is real, Political victimisation, assault and Assasination is real and last minute Surprise is real! Be a good student of History, there is so much history will be able to teach you as per your current ambition.

See you at your swearing-in ceremony! wink

I don't really mind a topic like this being on the front page, I prefer it to the dog's breakfast that emanates from the religious section and the romance section as well as the vomit that always comes from Linda Ikeja's number one's ass kisser.

To Afam; do you want to do it the ideal way or the Nigerian way?

surveyProf:

• There are about 14 wards in your LGA. Councillors earn about N232,000 every month in salary and allowances. Supervising Counsellors earn more.

Could this amount be correct
How many NLers make this amount monthly after working hard at a job or doing legit business
Why not put our skills, knowledge and strenght to the benefit of our people, at the LG level of governance, for a higher pay

Dear Afam4ever, i must tell you that i have an unyielding ambition to be a politician, though not a figure head type(councilor, L.G Chairman, Gov, and President) for they tend to suffer criticism the most, but a virtual leader(State& National houses of assembly or Party paragons). 1st. Rule of religious, public administative offices, or politics. Advice: 'Do not believe in what you say, and never say what you belive in'. 2nd. ' Better be feared than loved'(if you wish to live long). 3rd. 'Wear the velvet glove'. 4th. 'Learn to use both enemies and friends'. 5th. 'Let your only reason to disobey the contents of the constitution be to usurp power, in other cases, observe it'. Just a tip, in politics, the deeper and longer you get and stay, the deadlier you become. My professional and sincere counsel: ' Start practicing those rule from your family', win; you are good to go, fail; you better stay out.

Dear solomon, there is only one rule in politics(universally): 'Be a lion and a fox'. Follow one; you will come to grief. Politics world-wide is the same, it only depends on how good you hide your 'iron fist under the velvet glove'.

I know that Bro. But you know that is the universal or ideal way. I am talking the Nigerian way which as we all means:Standing for nothing & falling for everything, having the same morals, ethics and ideals of a commercial sex worker e.t.c.

I am very disappointed by the comment of most of you guys in here. Unfortunately, majority commenting are Nigerian youth. Someone has an ambition and some are there discouraging him.
This is the reason why over 75% of Nigeria youths re not ready for the change they yean for.
They re unwilling to take a step for the change.
They re afraid to take d risk for change. The youth are tomorrows leader, when will tomorrow comes. Afam pls, I wish you the very best in your future endeavours.
