John Mikel Obi has been given a 3match ban has also been fined £60,000by the FA. The Football Association met today over the case of Mikel Obi and referee Mark Clattenburg when he accused him of calling him a 'monkey'.

Mikel pettioned the FA and he asked for a personal hearing after admitting the use of threatening, abusive and insulting words a towards the referee Mark Clattenburg after the match that was played with Manchester United on 28 October this year.

"The regulatory commission's independent chairman, Christopher Quinlan QC, emphasized that the independent regulatory commission accepted, as at the time he threatened the referee, the player genuinely believed that the referee had racially abused him. But for that factor the suspension would have been significantly longer'

"Subsequently the FA investigated the allegation that the referee racially abused the player and found that there was not a case for him to answer." The FA regulatory Commision Independent Chairman concluded

Mikel Obi will have to watch his team play from the bench.

I think the FA took such action because there wasn't adequate evidence to show that Mark Clattenburg made the alleged racist remarks against Mikel. The FA might also have taken such action in order to protect their employees (the referees) from other potentially frivolous accusations.

I'm glad the refs carrier did not come to an abrupt end afterall! He is such a reputable young man .... Given mikel a fine and match ban is no way comparable to ending a man's career dereby cutting off his family's means of livelihood. Gud oηε FA

what makes a ref reputable? do u speak english because u hear others are speaking? before u speak, it makes sense that you google the ref's name in line with his controversial decisions of which man u has been benefiting from.
whether we like it or not, the fa is corrupt and man u has their hands in it. the man u chairman is the vice chairman of fa. england has a case reported to uefa against serbia on the ground of racism. england went mad when fifa gave russia and qatar world cup hosting rights above them and they were saying russia is a racist country.
many players in epl are aware of this issues and the whole world is watching. england is just protecting their own and that is just it but all of us can't be deceived at the same time.
clattenburg no matter how victorious he may look knows his carrier is a controversial one and the whole world will always be on the watch out for him.
