Confirmed reports vids n pics show a full bus load of travellers meeting their tragic end as a bus crashes wit another vehicle,veering off the road and killing all on board.
It was learned that the Uduaghan-tagged bus was travelling from sapele to warri and the crash occured just this morning.
Sad,sad,sad times. May God rest their soul,Amen.

Secondly.. I know Nigerians.. They will rush to the rescue first. Its only when they see that it is a hopeless situation that they would settle for pictures. Because really, some stories are better seen than imagined.

If the op was able to open a thread on NL, then he can handle basic first aid.

For one, see how they lay on the scene, can't the op make them lay comfortably. Etc etc

First of all sir.... I am a trained and qualified paramedic.. The first thing we were thought is this; if you are not trained in basic first aid, do not attempt to carry out one. You will do more damage than good. The only thing the OP could have done (assuming he was at the scene, which I doubt as these pictures have been circulating on Blackberry since before this thread) is to check for pulse, check for sign of life and or consciousness. In the absence of any of these signs, he is to do nothing.


That scene is a crime scene. Tampering with it is a crime especially when you are not offering first aid.

Mr historian, Why must Nigeria wait for 200 years before having good roads and rapid response to accident victims?
With the level of human advancement now, no country on earth needs to wait that long.

You want a baby nation like Nigeria to start competing with G-8 Nations?! You must have the brains of a kindergartener.

Money isnt everything.. We have too many things that divide us as a Nation than those that unite us. As a Nation, we have achieved where many have failed. Not many countries in Africa would have survived if faced with the unique challenges nigeria is facing today..

That sight of that bus looked like it was a sure kill to me..

The top that you cant see wasnt cut open using the 'jaws of life' o!! Na the accident remove am!!

Anyways.. If I were at the sight of an accident like that, my training would kick in.. I will check for survivors, search for a heartbeat or pulse.. Administer CPR where necessary, call the Police, Take all necessary precautions before moving the bodies..

BUT AGAIN, this is Nigeria.. Since when did we start doing the right thing?!

Actually, Okija is 100% correct. If you're not trained, you don't render assistance. You keep the injured talking, reassure them, anything to keep them from slipping into unconsciousness. But you do NOT attempt to lift or move them. Back / spine injuries could prove fatal if they're lifted without stabilizing the injuries. The same goes for neck injuries.

I have no idea about Nigeria, but over here, if you lift accident victims whilst unqualified, you could get sued by their families. You could also face prosecution for tampering with an accident scene, which could become a crime scene, if the circumstances don't look right. Trained paramedics are exempt - they can assist AND remove the injured, whilst still preserving the accident scene.
