In a random sample of 400 high school teachers in a state the mean income s #20,054 and d standard deviation, #3750. Do these data suggest that the mean salary over all such teachers in the state s greater than #20,000?

Soln
Let d random variable be: X
The null n alternate are:
H(0) X≤20000
H(1) X>20000

On assuming d null
P(X ≤ 20000)
=P(z ≤ [20000-20054]/3750)
=P(z ≤ −0.0144)
≈P(z ≤ −0.01)
=0.040

This is significant @ d 5% level so we reject H(0) and hence we can say d salaries exceed 20000

***a.)generate the sample space of tossing a coin four times

B. State and explain four method of sampling

to generate sample space for tossing a coin ,

=> N(S) = 2 ^n

for single toss , => N(S)= 2^1 =2 .....( number of sample points )

=> S= { H ,T}

for double toss , => N(S)= 2^2 =4 .......(number of sample points )

=> S = { HH , TT, HT , TH }

for triple toss , => N(S) = 2^3 = 8 sample points

=> S={ HHH,TTT, HHT, HTH, THH, TTH , THT , HTT }

thus for four times toss , => 2^4 = 16 sample points ) ,

=> S={HHHH , TTTT, HHHT . HHTH , HTHH , THHH , TTTH , TTHT , THTT , HTTT , THTH , HTHT , TTHH , HHTT , THHT , HTTH }

ueskman: mathemgicians in d house, help with this o

A.)Fit a forecasting model to the following times series data

Year and production
1977 and 11
1978 and 13
1979 and15
1980 and14
1981 and15
1982 and16
1983 and16
1984 and17
1985 and 18

B.) Forecast for

i)1990
ii)1995

using least square method (LSM)
code the year

say 1977 ..................1
1978...................2
1979..................3
1980..................4
1981..................5
1982..................6
1983.................7
1984................8
1985...............9
.
.
.
1990............14
.
.
.
1995..........19

to represent your X

X : 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

Y : 11|13|15| 14 | 15 |16|16|17|18

XY; ...............................................

X^2: ...............................................

forecasting model "y = ax + b ( x=t )

a = (n£XY -£X.£Y) / [ n£x^2 -(£x)^2 ]

b= bar y - a bar x

( where bar y = £X/n & bar x = £X/n)

after computations put x=14 & 19 respectively in the model ..................( forecasting for 1990 & 1995 )

oya. finish up ....

hope this helps ...?

Q3.

using

z=( x-u)/ s.d

pr(x>65) =1 - (x-u)/s.d

z=(65-50)/10 =1.5

pr(x>65) = 1- @(1.5)

or pr(z>1.5) =0.5 - the area you got

use a calculator/ four figure table to check that

now number of eyes that are large out of 100 lot

= 100 * the answer you got above .

similarly

pr(40<x<60) = [(40-50)/10 < (60-50)/10 ]

=> @(-1)<@(1)

also check that with a cal.

then 100*the answer you got will be small

that's it

rest loading........ maybe later .
