the correct question is;
Simplify (x2 - 1)/(x3 - 2x2 - x + 2)

Solution:
(x2 - 1)/(x3 - 2x2 - x + 2) = (x2 - 12)/(x - 1)(x + 1)(x - 2),
!diff. of 2squares will be applied to the numerator while I factorize the denumerator(Long division cn be used after getting one factor)

=(x - 1)(x + 1)/(x - 1)(x + 1)(x - 2),

= 1/(x -2) Option D

Question (1) missing an item

Question (2):
if number is to be greater than 4000, then it can only start with any of 4,5,6 (3 ways of starting), i.e. 3 x....
second term can have any of the other 4 numbers, once first term is fixed (no repetition), then third any of 3, then fourth any of 2.
Hence, 3 x 4 x 3 x 2 = 72 numbers

The correct answer to Question 2 is 192, i.e. 72 + 120.

Firstly, you need to find two points say a and b such that if you put a or b in f(x) either f(a) or f(b) would give you opposite signs i.e either f(a) can be negative or f(b). But they can't have the same sign.
Let the interval be [1,2].
This implies that a=1 f(a) =-1
b=2 f(b) =5
Next find xo which is (1+2)/2=1.5
F(xo) =0.875
Since your f(a) * f(xo) <0 your new interval is [1,1.5]
Continue your iteration until your error =0.001
