In the Federal Republic of One Million Committees, another one has been set up by the Governor of Nassarawa State, TANKO AL-MAKURA. Well, it is not to address the poverty level of the state or do something to the illiteracy rates of the state, they are saddled with locating, finding and recovering over 10,000 cows that disappeared in the last communal crisis in the state. But pray heavens, how will that be done? Did the cattle rearers tag each cow with a GPRS transmitter ni abi kini?

Anyways, the governor made this known at a meeting with the leaders of the Fulanis in his residence in Lafia. He assured them that all missing cattle from the communal crisis that engulfed the Nasarawa South Senatorial District since June 2012 would be found and that the committee will be on top of the situation. During the crisis, many Nigerians lost their lives, property worth millions razed to the ground while thousands of cows disappeared (or let's say eloped or became refugees in their own land).
The Governor also said that members of the committee include soldiers (okay o!), policemen, members of the State Security Service and of course, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). He emphasized:

``The committee will visit every nook and cranny of the state to ensure that all the missing cows are found.’’

He also said that 200 of the cows have been recovered (okay, that makes an impressive 2% ba?) and they are kept with the traditional ruler in Kwandare and they should go there to identify theirs. Hmmmn. What say you?

Implanting sub-cutaneous identification tags, of the sort used in pets in Europe and America, will identify cattle instantly, and provide all details of ownership. The process of implanting those tags requires a modified syringe needle, and takes mere seconds per animal.

Check out this technology. Cattle thieves will never know that each head of cattle is identifyable with a tag only slightly bigger than grain of rice, hidden under the skin of the animal, and computer readable by the owner, who is the ONLY one with knowledge of the tag location on the animal.
