Probably the oddest scenario ever seen in the decade that the
transfer window has been in place. The Nigerian had been unhappy
at West Brom for much of January, with a move to QPR thought to
be of great interest to him.
With time running out on deadline day, Odemwingie took it upon
himself to turn up unannounced at Loftus Road in an attempt to
force a move to the Hoops through , despite no deal being agreed
between the clubs, with QPR officials having to ask the striker to
leave the premises to avoid legal action.
Harry Redknapp had held an interest in bringing the player into his
squad, but lamented "crossed wires" for the deal not being able to
be done, although he did manage to sign three players on
Thursday.
Odemwingie could now be in big trouble at the Hawthorns, with a
club statement claiming: "Peter has acted wholly unprofessionally.
He must now accept the fact he remains under contract for a further
18 months and has to focus on his Albion commitments."
