The History Of Valentine by mydearfrancis(m): 10:06am On Feb 06, 2013
There was a priest name valentine. He lived in
rome abt 250 A.D. At dat time rome was ruled by
an emperor by d name of claudius. Claudius
wanted a big army. He thought men shld volunteer
to join. But many men just did not want to leave
their wives and girlfriends and sign up to fight. Dis made claudius mad. HE'D A CRAZY IDEA THAT IF MEN
WERE NOT MARRIED THEY WOULD NOT MIND
JOINING HIS ARMY. So claudius decided not to allow
any more marriages and he passed a decree
banning marriages. Valentine thought it was
ridiculous! (i think so too) Well, after emperor claudius passed his law. Valentine kept on
performing marriage ceremonies- but secretly. He
would whisper d words of d ceremony, while
listening for soldiers on d steps outside. One night
he did hear footsteps. The couple he was marrying
escaped, but he was caught and thrown in jail and told that his punishment was death. Many young
people came to the jail to visit him and threw
flowers and notes up to his window. They wanted
him to know that they, Too believed in LOVE. One
of these young people was d daughter of the
prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit him in his cell. They often sat and talked for hours. She
believed he did the right thing by ignoring the
emperor and performing marriage ceremonies. On
the day he was to die, he left her a note and signed
it: ''LOVE FROM YOUR VALENTINE.'' It was written
on the day he died, february 14, 269 A.D. Dear friends i want to you to know that LOVE IS A VERB
( a word describing action)! John 3:16 'For God so
LOVED the world'... that he did something! He took
an action! He gave his only son. St. Valentine too,
backed up his belief wit action. 1john 3v 18: '' My
little children let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed(Action) and in truth. If you
want to act VALENTINE's DAY remember the elders,
orphans, the sick... Forgive someone and prayer for
others. Remember, God is LOVE, and if u don't
know him u don't understand love(1john3v8)...
