Christian evangelism is having devastating effects on some parts of Africa. The evangelist have left no stone unmoved. They are now targeting the most vulnerable members of society - children.  Read and look at the following picture gallery and lament.  Something ought to be done fast.

Could these people be reading Exodus 22:18 -  Suffer not a witch to live.

I suggest we need education in scientific and rationalistic naturalism. Or some simple dose of common sense skepticism. As you can all see, supernaturalism is the root source of the problem.

Should we ban science n scientific investigations because some scientists abuse their positions?

Who was calling for a ban? Why do you see less of these in more "educated" and "enlightened" societies?  We should implement systems that ensure that such people are NOT so vulnerable to this sort of exploitation.  Education in rationalism and skepticism is one way.

I will agree wit u dat these sort of abuses are less in enlightened societies but don't forget that these same enlightened societies throw up their own kinds of abuses.

So for me the solution is not just increased thought and an abandoning of religion but a means by which man's creative drives can be sufficiently harnessed.

Absolutely. No society is perfect. But education and enlightenment helps eradicate some of the ills of society. Only 300 - 400 years ago they were burning witches in Europe and America (following, Suffer not a witch to live, Exodus 22:18). Today we do not see such act down our streets in Europe, but in other parts of the world.

I will not agree that evangelism is evil cos u Reverand evangelise so do we all. However wen religion is used to manipulate or deceive people into doing tins they shouldn't then it becomes dangerous.

I think a great deal of the 20th/21st century evangelism in various parts of the world has become big business rather than "saving souls". I think a lot of European missionaries were really concerned about "saving souls", as misguided as that may have been (as they did not know better).

However, today, the big evangelical crusades and ministries arereally concerned about lining their pockets. The smaller guys starting out in the towns and villages of Africa have not got the muscles to pull the crowds and audience as the big established ministries. So they resort to 419 means to exploit the naive and simple people. What a shame!

Funny u'd blame christianity on treating 'witches' wrongly. If ever there was advocasy for the possessed, it was carried out by the church (ever heard of deliverance?). Try to be a little less judgemental Tpaine. Nobody's using christianity to make money or 419. The gospel needs funds to be spread. People will definitley abuse every religion, but its not your place to judge them.

@Reverend,
I HOPE YOU HAVE THIS SCRIPTURES BELOW IN YOUR BIBLE.

ROMANS 10

14.  How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

15.  And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written,
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

Let us rebuke those that are not doing the will of God accordingly,
not to condemn the whole thing. THANK YOU.
