THE Federal Government may have withdrawnthe operating licence of DANA Air. A Director in the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), who does not want his name in print, confirmed the withdrawal of airline’s Certificate (AOC).
The source, however, did not give reason for the Ministry’s action, but disclosed that the decision was conveyed to the airline by the Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nnamdi Udoh.

We learnt from the airline Saturday that one of the batteries of the MD 83 aircraft was faulty and the captain statutorily notified the NCAA as required by law.
Based on this, the Minister called for the withdrawal of the airline’s licence, a situation that would further compound the airline’s woes, less than three months after it resumed operation.

An official of DANA said the Minister has invited the airline management to Abuja for a meeting scheduled for Sunday at 11am.
This is the first time the airline’s licence would be withdrawn.
Its operations were grounded after the devastating crash of June 3, 2012 in Iju Ishaga, Lagos.
But spokesman for the Minister of Aviation, JoeObi, said it was not true that the airline’s licence was withdrawn.

Spokesman for Dana, Tony Usidamen, was yet to confirm the development as at press time.
Dana’s Lagos-bound plane had, on June 3, 2012, crashed into a heavily populated area a few minutes to the airport.

The outcome of the investigation, which was released last month, confirmed that the inability of the pilot to turn on the fuel pumps led to the failure of the two engines and the eventual crash of the plane, killing about 160 people.
Subsequently, the airline was grounded following public outcry over the incident.

No mind them.
Make Dana do make them pay the bribe finish then their lincense will be reissued to them. The Minister and Avaition authorities are upset that the management of DANA Air are yet to pay up the agreed bribe some after they lifted their suspension.
