Billyonaire: Dont waste your time processing tint permit. Just keep the 40k in your pidgeon hole, each time an officer stops you, give him 1k from it.Why spend 40k daily in bribing policemen when you can as well get new pairs of glasses with same amount. |

If the people in authority are reading, please note that there are some vehicles that are factory tinted. What should people with such vehicles do? Please I need an answer. |

chucky234: You got problem understanding written text? I think you are the who may have a problem reading & understanding written text. The IG wishes to remind Nigerians Unless you don't know your rights, no policeman can stop you if your car has a factory tint (which is usually not totally black & most times on the rear windows only). ALL Toyota Sienna vans from the 1st gen (98-2003 upwards) till date have factory tinted rear windows. Same for certain trim levels of SUVs & some other minivans & even saloon cars too. I guess those people should throw their cars away right? Tint permits (even when they were issued & if still issued) are not needed for factory tint windows. |

I think IG should try to specify the one to be seized. Most of d cars coming from America-SUVs are factory tinted. Is now saying we should not buy or use American brand of vehicles. How many vehicles are being made from his state?Dum.... Now I believe is time is up in that office and he soon be changed cos those legislators that use tinted glass vehicles will definitely chase him out soon.stpd man, instead of facing their rival enemy-Boko Haram, they wil be disturbing innocent citizens going on their normal biz.How many tinted car Boko Haram has used in their operation since or how many unregistered vehicles...mumu 1 Like |

To clarify: Use of tinted windows is legal only for the President, VP, Senate Pres, Speaker and their deputies (also Majority Leaders), Service Chiefs and Chief Justice. The law exempts FACTORY FITTED tinted windows. The Police and Local Governments give permits for FACTORY FITTED tinted windows. There is no permit that allows you to use non factory fitted tints. If you have a permit for factory fitted tints and you put on non-factory tints, then you are committing an offense. Up til now however, the police and FRSC have left motorists with non-factory fitted tints alone as long as they have a permit. But be warned, if your tints are NOT factory fitted and you have a permit, you are breaking the law, so if the police stop you, your either gonna part with some cash or have your car impounded and face criminal prosecution. How exactly do you prove to a Nigerian Policeman that you have factory-fitted tints? My guess is 'by greasing his palms with cash'. 1 Like |

mawwime: How exactly do you prove to a Nigerian Policeman that you have factory-fitted tints? My guess is 'by greasing his palms with cash'. They won't harass for factory fitted. At the time running up to the election in 2011 when they banned tints, i got stopped a couple of times and they wound my window down to check that my tints were factory. As long as they are factory tints, they can not be peeled off, that's the test |

erico2k2: As for the Unregistered vehicles, how about Mr A buys a car in Lagos wants to drive it to ABJ to number it, how does he go about it Ideally this should never be done. Check with the licensing office in Lagos first. I heard you are given permission for about four weeks. In the United States of America you would need to place the car in a truck to travel within or outside the city if your car is not yet registered. |
