The South African military is a disgrace. Despite their heavy presence in CAR, nothing to show for it. |

France, this is your colony. Why have you left it to be taken over by terrorist( oh.. No, rebels since they may not be Muslims)? Why haven't you sent your war plane as you did in Mali. You(West) may think that you are fighting Islam, but i wonder how you are going to succeed. |

Proxy conflicts funded by imperialist aggressors. Africa is still under the threat of neo-colonialism. 'How europe underdeveloped africa' by Walter Rodney should explain more. |

livethinme: Denying the presence of imperialist interference is implictly acknowledging ignorance in the role played by imperialism to reduce former colonies to dependent economies, subtly perpetuating her unstable development by forcing loans and grants to influence policies and tacitly encouraging frequent goverment change. It might interest you to know that the very first coup in C.A.R that toppled Jean Bokassa and ushered in David Dacko in 1979 was financed, planned and executed by French forces. Go figure! You know how much the arms industry is worth? These guys give both sides guns and stand back and watch these folks kill each other. You need to understand the industrial military complex must be fed. In foreign policy, you must delve into the past, otherwise it would be impossible to understand how the present came into being and what the trends are for the future. |

The thing is CAR army was a joke. If 200 SA solders could hold there ground how could the few thousand CAR army not. The fact is CAR was doomend to fall because her solders where cowards. This will not happen in nigeria any time soon. Nigerias army actually has heavy wepaons(APC, IFV, tanks) and air support. One Hind attack chopper stopped the rebel advance untile it was suot down. Nigeria has a lot more than one Hind. This type of reblion will not happen. Though there are other types. |

Okijajuju1:History and Geography curricula should be updated in Nigeria. Can't believe Nigerian new generations are so uninformed. Do you remember PanAfricanist Barthelemy Boganda ? He died in 1959. Do you remember Operation Barracuda in 1979 when Giscard sent French troops to overthrow Emperor Jean Bedel Bokassa ? Bokassa was on a trip to Libya. Later in 1981 when Giscard was running for president , there was a televised debate during which Mitterrand the socialist front runner asked questions about the " Central African diamonds". Those diamonds were given to Giscard by Bokassa. The issue went viral and Giscard lost the race to Mitterrand. The later was France's longest serving president in History . He ruled for 14 years. Also keep in mind Central African Republic has one of the biggest French military bases in the world. From there, they are at almost equal distance from East Africa, West Africa, North Africa and the Southern part of Africa. They can easily strike Nigeria if needed. |

mysticwarrior: Bozize was a treacherous general who seized power in a military coup against Ange Patasse a democratically elected president. Why should the South Africans shed their blood to defend his regime? |
Re: President Flees As Rebels Seize Presidential Palace In Central Africa Republic by mysticwarrior(m): 5:50pm On Jul 05, 2019 |
panafrican:I don't need to attack their home land for me to access and determine their capability, I judge from what they display in wars. South African soldiers were drafted to CAR for peace keeping and to protect innocent citizens from vicious rebels, but thier soldiers has been disappointing so far, they couldn't even defend themselves from the rebels and they fled, it is shameful. We have seen Chadian soldiers in action for peace keeping operations and they were given lots of credibilities for bravery. Nigerian soldiers spear headed Ecomog in Liberia, Sierra Leon, and Soa Tom and principles, Nigerian soldiers were also there in Mogadishu during the Somali wars in the early 90s. The might of the Nigerian army was heavily demonstrated in these places, under Abacha's regime Nigerian soldiers routed out large Liberian rebels fighters and drove them out of Monrovia. But the south African army don't have that kind of reputation, just look at how their soldiers are being slaughtered like chickens in CAR. |
