Hello all. I am in need of a car, considering the fact that I am a student spending over 300 naira daily on transportation to school. Can any1 advice me on what car I can get? Some relatively cheap, strong and with great fuel economy. If possible, a brand new.

What's the terrain like in ur area?

Get d review of the following cars n pick one out of it.
VW Golf 3 (1995-1997)
VW Vento (1995-1997)
BMW 318i (1995-1996)

The above are rugged, cheap to maintain n parts are d cheapest in Nigeria. But if what u want is luxury n not minding to spend more time in auto-mech shop, then pick from d following
Toyota Lexus
Toyota Pencil Light
VW Golf 4 or Bora

My recommendations :

*VW Golf Mk3 (its a lil small though) but the running cost is reasonable.

*a 98-01 honda accord (USDM spec. also known as the 'baby boy') equipped with the 2.3L Vtec 4cylinder paired with the manual gearbox,stay away from the autos!

*a 98-01 european spec. Mazda 626 with the 2.0l inline 4 and a manual tranny .

* or a 98-01 camry with the 2.2l 4cyl (make sure u get a steering/pedal lock becuz its easily stolen these days)

Stay away from the following: VW passats (99-present) with automatic gearboxes,MK4 VW golfs/boras equipped with automatic gearboxes (run for ur life if its assemblied in mexico- these were sold in the north american market , the german built ones are better though), peugeot 406 (the D8s in particular, D9s are easier to live with but their parts are a lil pricey* the automatics are best avoided),AWD (quattro)Audi A6s with the 2.8L V6s & auto trannys (funny enuf they sometimes fall into this price range).

Exactly, but buy 1995 or 1996 model. The car was produced btw 1991 n 1999 but d 1995 or 1996 model is more durable n rugged. Tanx
