OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR IBIKUNLE AMOSUN

Severance pay for political ex-appointees in Ogun State

Your Excellency Sir,

"It would be recalled that in 2011, Chief Alamu Alagbe died of Diabetes, while Dr. Bolaji Shofu died of kidney problem. He needed only N800,000 for treatment but did not have it. These are ailments that need constant and regular medication with available FUNDS".

NOTE: IT IS ALSO A KNOWN FACT THAT 17 OTHERS DIED FROM HEART ATTACKS, SUICIDE, AND SO ON DUE TO PRESSURE FROM THEIR CREDITORS, INABILITY TO MEET UP WITH THEIR DOMESTIC NEEDS, ETC...HOW MANY MORE MUST DIE BEFORE HIS EXCELLENCY SETTLES THEIR SEVERANCE?

It is almost two yrs of resumption of office sir, yet d payment the severance benefit of immediate past political appointees is yet to be made. The lack of funds no doubt is a major factor in the unfortunate deaths of the people mentioned above. Yet THE SENATOR IBIKUNLE AMOSUN LED GOVERNMENT IN OGUN STATE REMAINS THE ONLY STATE THAT IS YET TO PAY THIS MONEY, THE QUESTION IS WHY

The elderly amongst the political appointees are in dire straits. Most, if not all, are the bread winners with many dependants looking up to them. Several are over 70 years of age; when will they receive their entitlements? Others are suffering in silence due to the fact that they are short of funds and could not purchase urgent medication or sort out their families.

Mr. Yinka Ibidunni, a physically-challenged man has also been campaigning for the statutory funds to be released by Gov. Amosun , all to no avail. He even visited a lot of ministries at Oke Mosan last week, to solicit for d release of the statutory funds, WEEPING as he shouted and pleaded in vain. Even some of them have drop-outs as children because of lack of funds to finance their education.

Your Excellency sir, u ordered d payment of d ex-legislators in 2011, including those of the G-11, who threw Ogun State into turmoil in 2010 because u know they can collude with their sitting colleagues to frustrate ur government. These ex-appointees have no such power, but have the Amighty Allah who fights for d powerless.

On d 21st of December sir, so many media outfits carried d news that "indication has emerged that Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has ordered the payment of severance packages of all political office holders that served between 2003 and 2011 during the administration of former Governor Gbenga Daniel."

The order for the payment which was contained in a circular issued by governor Amosun himself to the state Commissioner for Budget, Mrs. Oluwande Muoyo instructed the commissioner to pay the allowances.

However, Governor Amosun was reported to have said that the decision was "PART OF HIS RESPECT FOR THE RULE OF LAW AS WELL AS HIS AVOWED DETERMINATION TO UPHOLD JUSTICE IN THE STATE" Vanguard, December 21, 2012.
(SERIOUSLY, IS THIS RESPECT FOR THE RULE OF LAW AND JUSTICE?)

But to my greatest surprise sir, none of them received a dime. Why must you continue to victimize these people for no just cause or due to ur perceived hatred for d ex-Gov. Some of these people are even supporting u as of now. Please have a rethink sir, and order d quick payment of d aforementioned allowances. Vengeance is mine says the Almighty God, why not leave Him to judge d ex-Gov and his top aides if truly he offended u.

Your Excellency sir, no body knows tomorrow, it might be ur turn sir, u have children and will have grand-children, how do u want the children of these ex-appointees to treat ur children in d future should they cross paths, knowing that they lost their bread winners, loved ones, or that their progress in life was delayed due to ur resolve to delay d payment? This also goes to d ur honourable Commissioners who have bn quiet on d subject matter.

This is just an appeal to the government to resolve this matter so that the senior citizens amongst them in particular, can pay for much needed medical care and others can adequately meet their financial obligations to their loved ones.

While applauding ur Excellency for the job well done thus far in ur quest to transform our great state, please endeavour to shun the politics of vengeance in our dear state...Ur perceived enemies today might end bn ur greatest political ally tomorrow !!!!

God bless Sen Ibikunle Amosun
God bless Ogun State
And God bless the Fed Rep of Nigeria.

Ogun State Conscience.
