GOD OF MERCY

“And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”
(Luke 17: 13)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The ten lepers in our Focal Scripture asked Jesus for mercy. The Hebrew word that explains mercy is 'chanah', which means 'to stoop in kindness to an inferior'. So those lepers were simply asking Jesus to come as their superior and stoop in kindness to them.

Friend, when you ask God for mercy, you are simply asking Him to stoop in kindness to you, and you are simply invoking that part of Jesus that made Him accept to die for people He created. When you cry to God for mercy, you are simply asking Him to become a servant in your destiny.

Today, ask God to stoop in kindness and serve your destiny. Ask God to make arrangements for greater things to happen in your life. Ask God to open new doors for you. Ask God for big opportunities and destiny helpers. Ask God to take you to where He wants you to be. Ask God to show you kindness in areas where life has been unkind to you.

The ten lepers asked for mercy and they got healed. Their healing came through mercy. They may not have deserved it but it came through mercy. You may not deserve the things you desire, but God says, it will come through mercy.

When Jehovah is involved, mercy will push the resources of heaven into action to work for your good. Mercy will cause God to stoop and serve you.

Prayer : Lord, stoop in kindness to me, in Jesus' name!Amen
Enjoy A Pleasant Monday And A Testimony Filled Week Ahead.

WATCH WHAT YOU SAY

“And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”
(Luke 17: 13)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In Bible times, when someone was diagnosed with leprosy, such a person was pronounced unclean, and the person had to keep screaming 'unclean' (see Leviticus 13 vs. 45) to ward of clean people.

When the ten lepers saw Jesus, they did not scream 'unclean'; the cried for mercy. They didn't say what the law told them to say; they spoke differently; they changed their confession and got resounding results.

Friend, watch what you say. Be careful with words that come out of your mouth. Don't speak according to your negative circumstances; don't confess the negative reports of men; don't say what the law wants you to say; don't say what men want you to say.

Say what God wants you to say; declare God's word concerning you; speak in line with what you want God to do for you; speak in line with your positive expectations; let your words be consistent with your expectations from God.

When men think you should speak negatively, shock them by speaking positively; when they think you should speak in doubt, speak the language of faith; when they want you to reaffirm the bad news in the air waves, speak like a true citizen of God's kingdom.

The lepers changed their confession when they saw Jesus, and their lives were turned around. If you speak in line with the Jesus that is able to turn things around, then great and mighty things will happen for you and in you.

If Jehovah is involved, your positive confession will yield results.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to speak in line with Your word; I won't declare the report of men, in Jesus' name!Amen

SEIZE THE MOMENT

“And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”
(Luke 17: 13)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the ten lepers saw Jesus, they seized the moment and immediately asked for mercy. They were thrown out of the city, condemned to the misery of leprosy, but when they saw Jesus, they saw a chance for a better life and they took it without hesitation. They took their chance and they got healed.

Friend, God says, seize the moment; take your chance; take a shot at whatever you need to achieve; use whatever window of opportunity and make the most of it; don't disqualify yourself when opportunities present themselves; don't de-market yourself by doing things that have no potential to give you positive results.

The lepers took their chance and they got healed. God says, if you dare to take a chance, you will be divinely rewarded with resounding results. If you are willing and bold enough to take a shot at success, God will favour you and show you mercy.

If those lepers kept silent, just maybe they would have remained lepers and condemned themselves to a life time of regrets. If you do nothing, you just might be condemning yourself to a life time of regrets. If you fail to seize the moment, a time will come when you will rue your missed chances.

If you are wasting your own chances, remember, others are taking theirs: don't feel bad when they get results and you end up empty handed. Take your chance and God will favour you.

Ecclesiastes 9 vs. 11 says: "...the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all".

Prayer : Lord, give me grace, wisdom and courage to take my chances, in Jesus' name!Amen

LIVE A NORMAL LIFE

"And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed"
-Luke 17: 14

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus told the lepers to go and show themselves to the priest. They were not healed yet, their skins were still scarred by leprosy, their circumstances were yet to change, but Jesus told them to go and show themselves to the priests.

The priests were based in the city; lepers weren't allowed in the city, but Jesus ordered the lepers to go into the city. He commanded them to act as if things had become normal. He commanded them to act as if their problems had ended.

Friend, God says, act as if things have returned to normal. Drop your garment of shame and mourning even if your circumstances are yet to change. Don't bow to that sickness; don't lose your smiles because of unresolved challenges; don't pay too much attention to your problems and forget to live a profound life.

Bring back your smiles, confidence, self-esteem, poise, etc. Keep your head high even if the challenges that kept your head low have not all given way. Live as if your miracles are real already.

As they went into the city, the lepers were healed. They started to live a normal life, and things returned to normal. If you keep your head high and live a normal life despite your challenges, soon, your challenges will give way.

Psalm 3 vs. 3 says: "But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head".

Prayer : Lord, I choose to keep my head high and live a normal life despite my challenges, in Jesus' name!Amen

IT'S A MATTER OF TIME

"And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed"
-Luke 17: 14

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

As the ten lepers went to present themselves to the priests, it came to pass that they were cleansed. Their healing did not happen immediately they met Jesus; but in the process of time, their healing manifested. Time revealed their results; time revealed their miracle.

Friend, whatever God has destined for you will happen someday, it's just a matter of time. Your next level will come to you in a matter of time; your increase will come in a matter of time; your promotion will come in a matter of time; you will break your limits in a matter of time.

The miracles and breakthroughs you believe God for will happen in a matter of time; your prayers will be answered in a matter of time; the things you lost will be restored, your challenges will give way, the things that caused you pain will turn around for your good, and God says, it will all be a matter of time.

Cheer up, the days of pain and mourning will soon give way to dancing and celebration. The days of lack will soon give way to ceaseless abundance. Time will compensate you and work for you.

As days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months and months turn to years, God says, time will work for your good.

Prayer : Lord, time must give me results, in Jesus' name!Amen

DON'T WALK AWAY

"17. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18. There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger."
-Luke 17 vs. 17-18

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Whilst nine lepers got healed and walked away, one leper got healed and came back to show gratitude for what Jesus did for him. Jesus later went on to say to the Samaritan leper, "thy faith hath made thee whole".

Jesus pronounced wholeness upon the healed Samaritan leper who came back to him. So those who walked away were healed but not yet made whole. They got an initial installment of what God had in store for them, and they walked away, missing the remaining component of their miracle. Simply put, they walked away with incomplete miracles.

Friend, when you receive miracles from God and walk away, you are simply walking away with miracles that have not been sealed by God. When you receive divine intervention and you walk away without deepening your relationship with Jesus, you are short-changing yourself from having a complete package. When you walk away from God because your problems are solved, beware, a testimony without a divine seal may easily be tampered with by the enemy.

Instead of being counted among the nine lepers who walked away, be counted with the leper who saw the need to come back to the Giver of the gift he received. Let every open door, breakthrough, testimony, etc be a chance to get closer to Jesus.

Remember, wholeness was not extended to the nne lepers who walked away from Jesus, but it was extended to the Samaritan who came back to Jesus. Stay connected to Jesus no matter what you have received from Him, and He will extend wholeness to you.

Prayer : Lord, I refuse to walk away from You after receiving miracles, in Jesus' name!Amen

FORCED TO ADVANCE

"And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side..."
-Matthew 14:22

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship, so that they could move to the other side. Jesus wanted His disciples to move to a new location, He wanted them to make progress, He wanted them to advance, and He constrained them to enter a ship.

The word 'constrain' as used in that scripture means 'to force', 'to compel' or 'to pressure'. So Jesus forced His disciples to advance. He orchestrated their progress. They may not have planned to move, but He forced them to make progress.

Friend, hear God's prophetic word: God will compel you to move forward. God will orchestrate a chain of events that will push you forward. God will make divine arrangements that will move you to the next level. God will cause pressures to arise around you, and those pressures will move you forward.

You may not be ready to move, you may not have made any plan on how you will make progress, you may not even know what to expect on the other side, but God will make it happen for you.

Remember, the people that Jesus forced to move forward were His disciples. They were qualified to be pushed forward by Him because they were His disciples.

Your relationship with God is your passcode for a divinely orchestrated advancement. If Jehovah is not fully involved in your life, He may not push you forward; but if you are connected to Jesus, your advancement is sure.

Prayer : Lord, force me to make progress, in Jesus' name!Amen

UNFAMILIAR MIRACLES

"And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side..."
(Matthew 14 vs. 22)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Before Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship, He fed the five thousand men besides women and children. Jesus performed a miracle of multiplication. In 2 Kings 4, Elisha performed a miracle of multiplication for a widow of one of the sons of the prophets. So it was a familiar miracle.

Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship, and He later walked on the sea. After sending them into a ship, what followed was an amazing, unfamiliar miracle. Like we earlier observed, the word 'constrain' as used in that scripture means to force or pressure. So Jesus set up pressure that birthed an unfamiliar miracle.

Friend, are you faced with pressures at home, in your marriage, at work, in your finances, in your career, business, neighbourhood, etc? Are you faced with pressures that are threatening to sink the ship of your destiny?

Hear God's prophetic word: the pressures around you will birth uncommon miracles. The pressures around you will take you higher in an unprecedented manner. When people harass you needlessly, their harassment will set the stage for God to favour you.

Celebrate the pressures around you; celebrate those behind the pressures. As pressure pushes you, you will be chased into goodness. Soak up every pressure that life has thrown at you. It's your platform for unfamiliar miracles.

Psalm 65 vs. 5 says: "By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea".

Prayer : Lord, may the pressures around me birth uncommon and unfamiliar miracles, in Jesus' name!Amen

CONFINED TO BE CONVEYED

"And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side..."
(Matthew 14 vs. 22)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Jesus' disciples got into a ship which conveyed them to the other side. A ship is an enclosure. So the disciples got into an enclosure in order to arrive at their destination. They were first confined, then they were conveyed.

Friend, if you want to be conveyed to your next level, you may first need to be confined. There are vessels you need to be confined in before you can be conveyed. Dare to confine yourself within the boundaries of righteousness, decency, decorum, high moral standards, humility, and other attitudes that will push you forward in destiny.

Confine yourself to the spirit of diligence, creativity, excellence, etc. Learn to work smart; learn the positive principles that will help you succeed in your terrain; be consistent and committed; confine yourself in anything positive that has the capacity to convey you to your future.

Jesus' disciples endured the confinement in the ship for the sake of their destination. The things you need to confine yourself in are not about today's convenience; they are about tomorrow's accomplishments.

Besides Jesus' disciples, there were multitudes that didn't get into the ship because they had no journey. Don't break your confinement because of people whose race in life is different from yours. They may not need any confinement/boundaries because they are going nowhere.

Stay in the boundaries you have set for yourself, and in a matter of time, your confinement will convey you to your next level.

Proverbs 18 vs. 1 says: "Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom".

Prayer : Lord, give me wisdom to confine myself in the 'ships' that will convey me, in Jesus' name!Amen

YOU WON'T STOP

“But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves…”
(Matthew 14: 24)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

At the middle of the sea, the ship in which Jesus’ disciples travelled was tossed with waves. The waves didn't arise at the beginning of their journey; it arose in the middle of the sea. The waves came to stop them from completing their journey. The waves wanted them to stop in the middle.

Eventually, despite the waves, the ship continued to sail. The waves couldn't stop the ship in the middle of the sea. The waves couldn't truncate the journey of the ship. Jesus’ disciples had a purpose for being in the ship, they needed to arrive at the other side of the sea, and the waves did not stop them. They didn't stop middle of the sea.

Friend, hear God’s word of grace: you will not stop in the middle. Your life will not be cut short in the middle. The destiny of your family will not stop on the way. Your greatness will not stop in the middle; your testimony will not stop on the way; your marriage, finances, career, business, ministry, academics, etc will not be halted by satanic forces. Your progress will not be cut short. No power of hell will truncate your movement.

Jesus’ disciples began a journey and completed their journey. God says, you will complete every journey you started; you will complete every project you began; you shall achieve everything you set out to achieve; you won't be counted among those whose journeys ended without results. Whatsoever your hands have begun, God will give you grace to complete it.

Jesus was involved in the journey of His disciples. He sent them to the other side of the sea, and He wasn't about to watch them sink in the sea because of waves. If Jehovah is truly involved in your life, then no demon of hell can stop you in the middle of your journey.

Prayer : Lord, I will not stop on the way, in Jesus’ name!Amen

HIDDEN ISSUES

“But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.” (Matthew 14: 24)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus’ disciples were tossed about in the midst of the sea, the real problem was not the waves. There was a contrary wind that created the waves. Ordinarily, the waves of water in a sea can be seen, but the wind can only be felt but not seen. The real problem of the ship was an unseen wind; something that was not easily visible was behind the trouble in the middle of the sea.

Jesus eventually came into the ship and the wind ceased; the moment the wind ceased, nothing more was heard about the waves. The root of the problem was dealt with and the problem disappeared. The foundation of the problem was destroyed and the symptom disappeared. Jesus silenced the wind and the waves had no option but to walk away from the sea.

Friend, ask God to address the hidden issues behind your visible challenges. Ask God to destroy the foundation of every challenge in your family, marriage, finances, career, business, neighbourhood, etc. Pray against every unseen hand responsible for your troubles; pray against the root cause of every problem in your nation; pray against the root of pain, shame, disappointments, etc in your life and in the lives of those connected to you.

Ask God to show you the root of the stubborn challenges that are tossing your life around. Ask God to open your eyes to see the root of your challenges; ask God to open your eyes to see the hidden issues that are tormenting your destiny; ask God to reveal the source of your challenges to you.

If you focus on the symptoms of your trouble without dealing with the root cause, the trouble will remain. Fight your troubles from their roots and the troubles will disappear.

Prayer : Lord, reveal and destroy the root of every challenge in my life, in Jesus’ name!Amen

JESUS IS COMING

“And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.”
(Matthew 14: 25)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While Jesus’ disciples sailed in a ship, they faced turbulent waves which tossed the ship around in the sea. The waves were a challenge to the ship and Jesus’ disciples who were in the ship. The waves came as an opposition to the movement of the disciples. The waves came to truncate the disciples’ journey.

At the fourth watch, Jesus showed up and eventually, the wind ceased. The wind may have been turbulent, but the Master showed up. The wind opposed the movement of the ship, but Jesus showed up and the opposition gave way. The disciples may have struggled in the ship, but Jesus showed up and ended their struggles.

Friend, hear God’s word of grace to you: for every struggle in your life, Jesus is on the way. For the challenges that have made you shed bitter tears, Jesus is about to show up with solutions; Jesus is about to show up with solutions for every problem that wants to rock the ship of your life; Jesus knows all about your trouble, and will soon do something about it.

That trouble is not forever; God is about to show up to pull you out of it. God is about to pull you out of your health issues; God is about to pull you out of your marital issues; God is about to calm the storms that want to put your career, business, ministry, etc out of circulation.

The men in the ship were Jesus’ disciples, and Jesus was not about to abandon them to the waves and contrary wind that wanted to sink their ship. He rescued them expectedly because they were His disciples. If you are a true disciple of Jesus, He will show up when your storms arise.

God will not abandon you if you walk closely with Him; Stay connected to Jesus and He will show up to calm your storms.

Prayer: Lord, calm every storm in my life, in Jesus’ name!Amen

UNDER YOUR FEET

“...Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.”
(Matthew 14: 25)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus came to His disciples in the midst of the stormy sea, He walked on the sea. The waves and contrary wind were yet to cease, the challenge that wanted to sink the ship was yet to be taken away, and Jesus walked on the sea. Jesus walked on troubled waters, and the waters did not drown Him. The troubled water was under Jesus’ feet.

Friend, God says, every storm around you is under your feet. The wicked plots of your adversaries are under your feet; the satanic gang up and negative gossip against you is under your feet; the wishes of the enemy against you are under your feet; whatever the enemy wants to use and sink your ship is under your feet; the waves may threaten your ship, but God says, it is under your feet.

The storms in your life may threaten to consume you, but God says, walk on your troubled waters; you can make progress despite the harsh operating environment; you can be lifted despite the haters around you; you can be great despite the obstacles under your feet.

The waves and the contrary wind were not in Jesus’ favour, but they did nothing against Him. Hear God’s prophetic word: even if the storms are against you, nothing will go wrong in your life. Even if everyone around you is a hater, their hate won't reduce your destiny.

Arise in prayers and spiritual warfare; trample upon every storm that wants to consume you, and every wickedness launched against you; prayerfully tread on ‘snakes’ that want to bite you, and crush every physical or spiritual force that wants to sink your ship.

Luke 10 vs. 19 sums it up: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Prayer : Lord, every challenge against me is under my feet, in Jesus’ name!Amen

KNOW JESUS

“But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”
(Matthew 14: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus’ disciples saw him walking upon the sea, they thought it was a spirit. They had a vague picture of Him. They had no distinct perception of their Master. They were close to Jesus, but it seemed that their understanding of Him was not precise enough. They knew Jesus, but when He walked on the sea, they couldn’t recognize Him.

Friend, God does not intend that you see Him as a spirit that cannot be reached; God does not want you to see Him as a vague person who cannot be effectively related with; He does not want your knowledge of Him to be hazy; He does not want you to relate with Him without having a good recognition of Him.

God desires deep intimacy with you; He wants you to know Him personally for who He is; He wants you to know Him in spirit and in truth; He wants your knowledge of Him to be insightful and clear; God wants you to know Him as a person who has feelings and wants attention too, just like everyone does.

Know God as One who can share in your grief; know Him as One you can confide in through prayers; know Him as One who cares about your struggles and pains; know Him as One who is interested in who you are and who you become; know Him as One who loves you and cherishes His relationship with you.

If you treat God shabbily, be careful, He won’t be impressed by your shabby treatment. If you have no time to speak to Him, and if you care less about spending time alone with Him, you are making a grievous mistake that can take your destiny down the drains.

In Philippians 3:10, Apostle Paul said: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death”

Prayer: Lord, help me to know You more, in Jesus’ name!Amen

TAKE YOUR CHANCE

“And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”
(Matthew 14: 28)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus’ disciples saw Him walking on water, they thought it was a spirit, but when Jesus identified Himself, Peter requested for a chance to walk on the waters. Peter saw a chance to walk on water too, and he took it. Others may or may not have seen the chance, they may have analyzed or talked about it, but only Peter took the chance.

Friend, God says, take your chance. When you see an opportunity, don’t analyze or discuss it, don’t hesitate, don’t find out who is interested or not, don’t always try to see if it will work or not, just take your chance and you will be distinguished. Open your eyes to see opportunities, and when you see them, take them and God will do the rest. Seize your God-given opportunity speedily.

Peter didn't wait till the next day before taking his chance; he swung into action immediately and he walked on the water while other disciples watched. Be prompt in taking opportunities; if you waste time, the opportunity may pass you by, and someone else may even take it while you watch from the sidelines.

One enemy of progress is procrastination. If you postpone actions you should take immediately, you may end up a spectator in life, watching endlessly as other people take their chances and make progress. You may end up watching several success stories unfold while you have none, if you slack in taking action.

Peter took his chance and Jesus did not refuse him. If you dare to take your chance, God will play His part and cause you to succeed. If you do nothing, or if you just analyze and talk about opportunities, just know that you are making yourself a spectator. Take your chance and God will distinguish you.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to take my opportunities with speed, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Enjoy A Blessed Monday.

DIVINE PURPOSE

“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.”
(Matthew 14: 29)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal scripture, Peter stepped out of the ship to go to Jesus. He stepped out of his comfort zone in order to get closer to his Master. He moved towards divinity. He was Jesus’ disciple; so he moved in the direction of his purpose. He made a movement towards his purpose; he stepped out to follow Jesus.

As Peter stepped out, he walked on the sea. He walked towards divine purpose, and he achieved something he ordinarily couldn’t have achieved. No other person was ever recorded to have walked on water in the scriptures; so following Jesus and focusing on purpose helped Peter to accomplish something supernatural.

Friend, in your pursuit of divine purpose, you will accomplish supernatural things that people around you can't accomplish. If you continue to follow Jesus, you will eventually step into higher grounds that your human efforts would not ordinarily bring you to. If you continue to run after God’s will for your life, God will bring you into mighty, amazing experiences.

Peter may not have set out to walk on water, but as he followed Jesus, he walked on water; he accomplished what he never even planned to achieve because he was running after Jesus. Get set: as you run after Jesus, you will achieve mighty things you may not have planned to achieve.

No one would have known if Peter had the capacity to walk on water, if he didn’t dare to follow Jesus on the sea. If you don't follow Jesus and pursue your purpose, you may end up unsung: people won’t know what you could have been or what you could have done.

Pay attention to Jesus, pursue divine purpose and eternal relevance will be your portion.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to follow hard after You; keep my eyes on divine purpose, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Enjoy A Splendid Tuesday.

DON'T FORGET

“29. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.”
(Matthew 14: 29, 30)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Peter first walked on the waters, it was because he heard a word from Jesus. Jesus asked him to come, and he walked on the water. One word from Jesus laid the foundation for his exploit. Peter walked on water because Jesus commanded him to do so.

The moment Peter saw that the wind was boisterous, he feared and began to sink. He lost sight of what was responsible for his initial success, and failure became his lot. He forgot the instruction that helped him to conquer initially, and what he earlier conquered began to conquer him. Peter forgot his success secret and failure came.

Friend, don’t forget your success secret. Don’t forget the things that helped you achieve success in the past; don’t forget the sort of preparation that helped you succeed in your past assignments; don’t forget the prayers and seeds that birthed your past miracles; don’t forget what you did differently that opened doors for you in the past.

Don’t forget the promises of God that changed your story in the past; don’t forget the messages you heard that comforted your soul and made your faith strong. Whenever you lose touch of what you could easily and readily achieve in time past, look inwards, there just might be something you used to pay attention to that you have begun to play down on.

Remind yourself of your success secrets, and God will cause you to succeed again and again. If it is positive and worked for you in the past, remember it and it will help you succeed again.

Prayer : Lord, help me not to lose sight of the things that helped me succeed in the past, in Jesus’ name!Amen

FOCUS ON JESUS

“29. ...when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink...”
(Matthew 14: 29, 30)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus invited Peter to walk on the water, Peter stepped out and walked towards Jesus. The waves in the sea were still on, the wind was boisterous, the turbulence was yet to abate, but Peter had enough faith in Jesus and walked on the water. He heard Jesus' instruction and it drove him into action.

Peter later paid attention to the boisterous wind, and he became afraid and began to sink. He paid attention to what wasn't working in his environment, and failure beckoned on him. His success came when he listened to Jesus, but the moment he focused on the wind, he feared and failed.

Friend, when you pay attention to God’s word and God’s promises, you will succeed, but when you focus on the negativity in your environment, it will usher you into failure. If you pay too much attention to what is wrong in your environment, you might miss the chance to fulfill your potentials. If you don’t focus on Jesus, the negativity around you may distract you from success.

Peter had negativity in his environment, and fear came into him and took his eyes off the mark. Be careful when the enemy makes you pay too much attention on negativity. He would take your eyes off the mark, and possibly instill fear into you to stop you from achieving what God has empowered you to achieve.

Remember, the wind eventually bowed to Jesus. Focus on Jesus and stop giving too much recognition to the negativity around you. If Jehovah is involved, no negativity will stop you.

Psalm 34 vs. 5 says: “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”

Prayer : Lord, I choose to focus on You; no negativity will stop me, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Enjoy A Blessed Thursday.

CARRIED BY GRACE

“30. ...beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him...”
(Matthew 14: 30, 31)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Jesus had invited Peter to walk on water; Peter had enough faith to take that step, but in a matter of time, his faith was mixed with doubt, and he began to sink. His faith helped him begin the journey of walking on water, but it wasn’t enough to see him through.

When Peter doubted and faltered in his faith, Jesus reached out and caught him. Peter’s faith may have been too small to carry him, but Jesus stretched forth His hand to save Peter. When Peter’s faith failed, grace flowed from Jesus to stop him from sinking.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you shall be carried by grace. When your faith is not enough to carry you, grace will carry you. When your ability is not sufficient to help you succeed, God's grace will come through for you. When you can't please God enough with your faith and when your faith is not enough to attract God, grace will speak for you and cause God to please you even when you can’t please Him enough.

Faith is when man decides to please God; grace is when God takes it upon Himself to please man. When grace speaks on your matter, protocols will be broken, God Himself will qualify you and shut up the naysayers, the things you can't work for will come to you because of grace, and even things that should disqualify you may be swept aside by God.

Grace will stop your family, career, finances, etc from sinking; grace will stop your haters from sinking you; grace will make your journey to greatness easier and simpler; grace will do for you what you cannot do for yourself. Grace will speak for you.

Prayer : Lord, let grace speak for me, please me with Your grace, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Enjoy A Fantastic Friday.

Driving into a fuel station for a refill. The car has a fuel tank capacity of about 60 liters. While the pump attendant filled the tank, a motorcyclist also rode in to the second pump. Before I knew it, the motorcycle was full and the rider rode off while the car was still at the pump.
I got there before the motorcyclist but he left before me. It suddenly occurred to me that it would be absolutely silly of me to think "I got here before him. How come he is leaving before me?" Why? Our capacity is not the same.
The truth is there are times in life when we are stuck at the pump of divinity. Those who came in behind us have gone ahead of us; those who learnt from you seem to have outran you; those who graduated years after you are now the ones calling the shot and it seems as though you are stuck.
Could it just be that your capacity is bigger than theirs? Could it be that your own assignment needs longer preparation? Could it be that your character is being formed for the task ahead?
You do not know what you need. Only the One who designed the journey knows what is important. Why don't you hold on?
People will often say my mates are doing this.....
my mates have done that .....
my mates have this...
My mates are now....
But I'm still here doing, having, nothing
It is important to know that you spent nine months of formation in your mother's womb alone and you were given birth to alone even if you're a twin. Therefore never classify anyone as your mate.
God's dealings with/in your life is never an estimation of what is happening in the life of your friend or colleagues. God's dealing in your life is VERY PERSONAL and unique and should never be an estimation of physical and tangible things.
Take your gaze off other people's path and concentrate on the race, speedometers are different. You WILL earn your own medal. Good morning

FROM WARFARE TO PRAISE

“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,” (Matthew 2: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture announces Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem of Judah. Among other things, Bethlehem means ‘house of war’; so Jesus was born in an environment of ‘war’. Jesus was born in a place of battles; Jesus was born in an environment that was synonymous with warfare.

Bethlehem was in Judah. Judah means praise. So the ‘house of war’ was in a location called ‘praise’. The ‘warfare’ was connected and had a direct relationship with ‘praise’. What looked like a place of battle was connected to a bigger locale of ‘praise’. No matter how big the house of war was, it was still located in the environment of praise.

Friend, God says, every warfare that comes your way will be a platform for praise. Every battle that comes your way will end in praise. Every battle that has lasted in your life is just God’s way of making your praise and thanksgiving more interesting and more appealing. When men think they have done their worst by setting up wars against you, just rejoice, your praise is coming.

Whatever you warred about, you will soon praise about it. When your bitter tears flow, just remember that tears of joy are on the way. When the battles of life leave you with scars, always remember that the scars will add to your praise. Your warfare is tied to your praise; your battles are tied to your praise; the battles against you are raw materials for your praise.

No matter how big Bethlehem was, it was just a part of Judah. So even if the ‘warfare’ seems big, the ‘praise’ is definitely bigger. No matter how big your battles are, your praise will definitely be bigger.

Prayer : Lord, my warfare is tied to my praise; my praise shall exceed my warfare, in Jesus’ name!Amen

YOU HAVE A PLACE

“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,”
(Matthew 2: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus was born, Herod was frightened and troubled. Herod probably thought that Jesus came to contest for his physical throne; he thought that Jesus’ kingship was by the order of men; he saw Jesus as a rival; he saw Jesus as one who came to take his place. He thought that Jesus had no place.

Herod did not realize that Jesus was the King of Kings who did not come for a local throne in Israel. He thought that Jesus came for what he (Herod) could see; but he didn’t know that Jesus came for a throne that is not made with hands. Jesus had a bigger throne and a bigger assignment on earth.

Friend, there people who fight you because they think you are their rival and have come to take their place and occupy their throne. Some people estimate you based on what their eyes can see and what their minds can perceive. They erroneously think their throne is your hope and target.

God says, Herod’s throne is not your throne. You have your own throne and your own space in destiny; you have your own opportunity, your own spouse, your own greatness, your own relevance, etc; you have your own place in life; you have a throne that God made specially for you, and you don’t need any other person’s throne. Your God-given purpose and assignment in life transcends the thrones that eyes can see.

Don’t break your head on account of earthly thrones; you have a heavenly throne, you are seated with Christ, you are a child of destiny, you are bigger than whatever people around you are struggling for. What is yours is yours, and no man can take your place.

Prayer : Lord, my throne is reserved, I have my own place and space, in Jesus’ name!Amen
