1, I believe this is a waste of money, that money should be used to tackle the root cause of internet crimes in Nigeria which is poverty/unemployment.

In my opinion instead of monitoring internet activities, they should monitor the level of frustration among unemployment Nigerian youths. to tell provide the statistics of those who are likely to go into armed robbery, kidnapping, internet fraud and prostitution .

2, a $40m dollar investment in Nigeria would provide employment for youths in the country, reducing crime rate.

3, a little fraction of these funds should have been used to train and employ Nigerian youths in the police and army to monitor internet activities.


4, Nigeria is not ripe for such investment. countries that monitor internet activities are those who have provided the basic needs of their citizens (roads,Power,Water,accommodation,employment etc). then they decide to find out those few bad eggs that have refused to engage in a meaningful source of income and choose to go into crime and terrorism.

the Nigerian government has not provided nothing for the youths, and we all know that majority of internet users in Nigeria are youths. Is the government out to spy on the youths who they have frustrated, arrest them for fraudulent internet fraud and put them behind bars?

5, this will only work in a country that has a database of its citizen, a country that has proper house and street addresses. so even if they are able to spot an IP address, how can they map that address to a house location, when the houses are not properly numbered? What if the person uses an internet cafe to communicate over the internet, will the arrest the cafe because a terrorist sent a message using their IP ?
